Will they just cut the check and send it without me doing anything?
That's how it worked last year when I wrote and sent the checks not picked up.

Female Pro of the Year was Valarie Jenkins
I will side-note that Val is having a dominating year THIS YEAR and is an awesome person and player.
Des Reading, however, in 2007 in which the award is supposed to be representing broke records and somehow was not validated for such an incredible year.
Undefeated in eight National Tour Wins
21 wins in 32 tournaments (cashing in 1 of 2 playing Open)
1 Major win (Players Cup)
12-3 verses Valarie in head to head in 2007
In a sport where we don't make much money sometimes the awards are the special moments that make it all worth while. They are recognition amongst your peers of a job well done.
Now that Worlds is over, I hope this is not forgotten.
I couldn't agree more with the sentiments expressed here - Val is an awesome person and now a 2-time World Champion but the award is supposed to be based on what happened LAST YEAR and the statistics should speak for themselves.
Voters: you got this one completely wrong. Female Pro of the Year should have been Des Reading.

I've been getting some emails regarding the Worlds ratings. If some look wrong to you, it might be true. The online software that produces unofficial ratings was never designed to handle pools and shuffles very well. This combined with the complications of handling 900 players on 10 courses meant that several of the rounds do not have the proper course scores and layouts tied together to produce accurate ratings estimates. This will all be sorted out for the official ratings calculations posted in September.

Thanks Woj. We could try that maybe for field events like putting, long drive or EDGE skillshot. I think this interactive blogging works better when the sport venue doesn't require the observer to move around outdoors. I would think that having the photos of holes like I did for play-by-play enriches the experience more than just the text blog like this site? Still though, I could maybe see doing it at the IDGC where we could have wireless internet outdoors and the starting holes close to the building.
Actually if one of your main gripes is the photo thing, if you check it out in action you can insert photos that can be checked out at a viewer's discretion. Really neat stuff. It has a lot of nice features. If you could embed it in a forum post it'd be sweet.

She may have hurt herself with the way she behaved on video at 2007 Worlds.

How awful of someone.

Apparently, only 65 people of the 222 who received ballots voted for all of the awards which included touring players and State Coordinators.

second.
Maybe this is pointing out the flaw in the voting system. Voting should b done in January.

The earliest a ballot could be produced is around March 1st since the prior year stats need to be compiled and they aren't ready until early February. In addition, many of those who might vote have not yet renewed in January.

Why does it take so long to compile the stats.
I thought the memberships overlapped(they should). So if you are a member for 1 year, you cant vote for who you thought was the best player during your membership?

That's pretty weak. Is that the typical percentage?

It takes until the end of January to get all of the TD reports for the prior year both for December events and all of the stragglers that have been tardy for 6 months or more. Then the yearend ratings are done. Then, getting Worlds invites calculated takes priority. I'm just saying March 1st is realistically the earliest voting could start where the voters would have complete prior year info.

Came across this summary of the local coverage of Worlds 2008. Great job Larry and crew.

thanks joe for the heads-up. that's a great site for the all the news releases and some whacky disc golf with the Mayor of Kalamazoo!

Marshall Street Disc Golf Championships series of DVDs) did, indeed, bid to produce the DVD for Worlds.
Not according to Brian Graham. Media Active was the only bidder.
If MStreet did put in a bid and lost, thats a shame. They are the only producers of a quality discgolf dvd to date.
have you seen the St Louis open video?

Thanks, Mark. I think the My Worlds project came off pretty well; the overnight turnover surprised a few folks early, but by the end of the week most folks knew they'd have their DVDs the next day. JohnnyB and I enjoyed shooting the Am field, and of course our behind the scenes crew headed by Jerry Brown was invaluable.
Now if they'll **** up the water hazards for a few hours, I'd like to go play the Albion course...
See you soon.

Also any idea when regular payout vouchers will be sent?
Is there any way of finding out if a disc was ever found after we left? I lost two discs that I would love to get back.
I lost a champ glow disc out in the open field... the moon was too bright to see it glowing :)
I also lost a first run yellow ESP force on hole 5 at Meyer Broadway.
