I've paddled the Guadalupe from just above Cuero all the way down to where it dumps into San Antonio Bay as recently as last June.

I ain't skeered! Me and that ol' river are pretty good friends.

I've paddled the 262-mile Texas Water Safari (marathon canoe race from San Marcos to Sea Drift) numerous times (best finish was 78 hours in a Standard Canoe, racing with my brother).

I've paddled the Guadalupe from just above Cuero all the way down to where it dumps into San Antonio Bay as recently as last June.

I ain't skeered! Me and that ol' river are pretty good friends.

thats sounds like a lot of fun!! you ever do any fishing on the way down?

scoop
Aug 10 2007, 11:01 AM
Not during the race. It's an all-out paddling race. We paddle for about 21 hours each day, and sleep for about 3 hours. Since we have to carry all of our gear, supplies, and food for the entire race with us, there's no room for stuff like fishing gear anyway.

One of the check points is at City Park in Victoria, but no time for disc golf.

However, I do quite a bit of kayak fishing on the San Marcos and Blanco Rivers. Having a 4 or 5 lb bass pull you around in your boat is a lot of fun.

Heck, didn't they just keep adding holes for PIAO last weekend, and that turned into 3 rounds of 27 in 100+ heat. All in an effort to make room for open players who didn't sign up when everyone else did. :o

What is a ghost card?

deoldphart
Aug 18 2007, 06:49 PM
A ghost card is like 1 B, start players on all 18 pads, and then inseret a group between i and 18. Example, 1 tees, then 1B, and then after the players on 18 finish, they get in behind 1A. Advantage, more players in, disadvantage, implants an aotomatic 15 min wait, to stop by you car and get your favorite beverage.

I don't want to speak for Erron, but usually with these types of things, the number of people in your division is a factor. For example if he is expecting fivesomes, and there are 4 women and 15 adv, then preference might be given to a woman on the list to make it 5 rather than to the adv guy who will make it an odd number, even if the adv guy got on the list before the woman.

There you go chris, poking the bull. He has to feed on granny apples to make it fivesomes. Maybe there will be a worm in one of them apples. :p

I just got off the phone with the Local in Gonzo. Theres good news and bad news.

Bad news... There will not be wild hog on Sunday. I'm really really really sorry about this...

Good news.... They came up with a keg of Shiner for Saturday and The park was mowed yesterday...

I'm gonna start lookin into options for lunch on Sunday, anyone know of any good spots around the park?

I know not everyone has been to Gonzo before. Just get on I-10 like you are going to Houston, then turn right at the Gonzo sign.

Or for those of us coming from Houston:

I-10 West

Exit TX 97 (Gonzales / Waelder)

When you get into Gonzales, turn left onto 90A, then right on Spur 146 (St. Louis Street).
The course is on your right once you turn on St. Louis.

It's kinda like Pre-K arts and Crafts but harder and if there is ANYthing that isn't perfect you have to redo it. Oh well tonight is party night at Bayou Oaks. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

That's the thing it isn't about how smart you are but how well you are at crafting.
