Ok, first let me apologize for not getting the paperwork turned in by October Like I am suppose to.
I am about 75 percent done with it as of now and will finish it up tomorrow. [high priority]
To make a long story short. [not really]
The Carrollton Open takes a lot out of me every year. You have no idea what goes on to run a tournament of that size. No one has stepped up to the plate to be an assistant TD for several years now. As it is, I have to beg someone from Tyler to help.
Maybe if I paid someone I could find them, but that is not what this tournament has been about.
Ok, so the Thursday after the tournament I cash out all the checks and credit card receipt though my store. I leave very late Thursday night and open up again the next morning and left on a camping trip with my family to east Texas [the last time I played disc golf too]
On Monday morning I go to the bank to deposit some personal cash. I figured I would buy out all my big bills and deposit all the small bills from the tournament bag.
It was not there.
I look though my truck and it was not there.
I go back home and look though my tournament stuff and it was not there.
I go to the store and search my office and it was not there.
In fact I tore up my office at the store, my desk area at home, my truck and the garage.
At this point I still had to pay off Innova for 2900, the T-shirts for over 1000, the PDGA for over 1000, DGA for 400 and some smaller bills like the restrooms for 240. Oh yea, and the 700 I promised to the charity [Boy Scouts]
The only money I had was 3000 from Titledisc [luckily I did not have it on me] and a few other places I had stashed a little tournament money like Sunday disc sales and drink sales.
basically I had to come up with 2500 to pay off tournament debts. It was a good think I had the Alex Clark tournament coming up. I usually make a few bucks for the Carrollton open and was able to come up with another 500 for disc sales. [I spent 973.36 and came home with about 1510]
To pay off this debt, I had to push off paying the PDGA, T-shirts and the Charity as long as I could.
I was also very depressed because of it. I started working as a day driver a few days a week along with managing at night to make a few bucks. [I was using tip money to pay off disc golf debt]
To top all this off, this year though the end of October, My store has LOST 21,000. I have only paid myself 25K in that time so my net earning at the end of October was only 4K for this year.
I guess you can figure out what else has been going on, I have been getting disconnection notices from the phone company, electric company and gas company. Then my landlord want to be paid too.
All this has more to do with minimum wage increases, highest cheese prices ever and now flour prices.
I have had to revamp my menu, cut back on the employee schedule and re-evaluate my advertising.
So I have been at my store more hours per week than I care to remember.
I did stop the bleeding a little in November, I finished the month with 200 more than I started. I have not finished December yet, I will do that tonight.
So anyways, I told myself I was going to get all the disc golf junk that had been stuffed into the garage. I was looking for my calculator when I found this blue bag in the bottom of my disc golf stuff.
It was the bag I thought I lost back in September. It had 3500 in it. I still am pretty sure I lost a money bag with about 1000 in it, but at least the bulk of the tournament money was found:D [This was a bag that I put all the bills to be paid in, I had another white bag that I had on me that Thursday night]
I can now pay back all the money I borrowed to pay off tournament debts and have a bunch left over for next years tournament. This also means I can pay myself back the tip money I used to pay off tournament debts and can pay off some personal debt.
Today is a good day :D

SWEET!
so glad to hear you found (most of) that money, man. For someone who puts so much into this tournament every year, I was devastated to hear about what happened. Not as devastated as you were, I'm sure... but I definitely felt your pain.
titleDISC will be sponsoring the tournament this year and I may even sit out to co-TD for you if you need it. Hell... if you want, I might try to step up and do enough of the work so that you can play :D
Anyway, this is great news! Can't wait for the 12th MJCO :)

Sounds like a mircle, and to those who DON'T ever staff or TD events, get a life and quit the whining. It isn't very attractive.

I want to be the first to suggest we play GBelt backwards basket to basket for the tourney!!! :DBackwards makes that course WAYYYYYY better.. come on backasswards :D:p

Jan 12 2008, 02:34 AM
oh man I second that. GB backwards is quite an impressive course when compared to the original. You give up the concrete pads though... and the 3 alternates and tournament HQ would get in the way a little bit... but you could definitely make 21 holes work out there with a layout very similar to what we play when we go BELTBUSTER :). 16 of them should stay basically the same with some provisions for allowing plenty of room around each basket. the other two would be similar plus the three extra holes would make for an awesome course.

For all those concerned, the paperwork for the 2007 Carrollton Open is turned in. All fees have been paid.
Sorry I did not get this stuff done right after the tournament.
I feel better knowing that is one monkey off my back.
Now for this next year. I don't want to push it off till the last minuet again. Those that want to help, please contact me NOW.
I will be very busy between work [bills come first] and the Ron Paul campaign [I am a DFW area leader and captain of my City/Precinct.]
I need to be contacting all the voters in my precinct to find all the RP voters. I also need to find some other Precinct Captains for the rest of my City.
