Hello all :) I just moved to San Antonio just over 2 weeks ago and I'm planning on playing in this tournament. I was curious if anyone near the course has a place for me to crash for the tournament and if there are any pics of the course online somewhere where i could get to them and get an idea of what the course offers?

If you are planning on attending this event, you need to sign up quickly. There are less than 30 spots left since we are capping it at 120 players. There are pictures of the course on a few pages back on this same thread.

The course is looking great. All but 2 holes have been mowed and weedeated. All of the tee pads have been painted.

Well, 12 more days and only 13 slots left!!!

If you thought about playing, now would be a good time to sign up. I expect these 13 slots to be gone before the end of this week. Don't drive down on Aug 11 if you haven't reserved a spot, unless you have talked to me. More than likely your drive home will be soon thereafter unless you want to be a volunteer helping out at the tournament.

DON'T MISS OUT!!! SIGN UP TODAY!!!

We are now on Waiting List only....which means, a few players have reserved their spot, but if for some reason they must drop out at the last minute, we will go to the waiting list.

If you don't see your name on the list, you can get on the waiting list.

This is going to be a blast. The Open division winner WILL take home at least $1,000 ++++

See you there!!!!!!!!!!

Chris it is like this, the Final 9 will count for your score. We will also have $25 per hole as a side game on that Final 9, with a $50 skin for the last hole. The way I see it, it will make for a more exciting 9 since there is more on the line. Much more decision making will need to be done. This is just something to make for a more competitive 9 holes.

I hate to tell you this, but if it takes you girls 5 1/2 hrs to play this course from the Blue tees, then you might want to consider a different game. :D:D

it is like this, the Final 9 will count for your score. We will also have $25 per hole as a side game on that Final 9, with a $50 skin for the last hole. The way I see it, it will make for a more exciting 9 since there is more on the line. Much more decision making will need to be done. This is just something to make for a more competitive 9 holes.

I love the added twist! Much more to lose/win. Plus, as it stands right now, DGTV will be there to see it unfold. ;)

Wow !! 3 rounds of 27 equals 81 plus a crazy & im sure long 9, that is alot of Disc Golf. 18 x 4= 72. Hey I am all about throwing some discs, I just wonder if ill have anything left, if I was to make the Final 9. The winner of this event is going to earn his money. The Final 9 is going to be long and difficult.

We will not be playing hole 20 on the normal course for this event due to flow issues.

Here are the distances for the 8 temporary holes.

Hole B: 250 ft. Creek OB
Hole C: 285 ft. Guardrail and street OB
Hole D: 270 ft.Parking lot, paved ground, backyards OB

The ADGA will cancel our running acepot next Sunday in support of the PIAS Open in Crowley. We will have a mini for those that can't play the tournament. However, we will only shoot at the ace money collected that day. If nobody hits the ace during the round we will throw a ctp for the cash. Good luck to everybody in Crowley next week, I know it will be a fun tournament.

I think that Open/Adv will play two rounds from the reds (longs) and one from the whites (1500 feet shorter).

I think that every body else will play whites and blues (shorts) -13 usually wins the mini.

You got it right Chris....Sat. Open/Adv Red/White and all others Blue/White, Sun. Open/Adv Red all others Blue. For those that don't know the course, you will soon see that the White and Blue tees will play pretty easy and the rounds will flow well, with all the spotters. It will be a Great Time.

White Tees are 1500 feet shorter than the Reds
Blue Tees are 1400 feet shorter than the Whites.

Hole 20 will not be played and we will have 8 temps to make the loop from 19 to 1. The temps are going to be pretty short, with the exception of Hole A which is wide open.

A - 490'
B - 250'
C - 285'
D - 270'
E - 245'
F - 260'
G - 300'
H - 310'

Unfortunately Nicole Cazares will not be able to play in the tournament. She injured her right hip during soccer practice yesterday (Thursday). I have been putting heat and ice on her hip and giving her Advil. She really wanted to play so we went out to a field around 7:00pm this evening (Friday), so she could throw and test the hip. She threw fine but her hip hurt every time she threw. So my wife and I decided to pull her out of the tournament. We don't want to take a chance on making the injury any worst. Nicole was very disappointed, but wanted me to wish all of you good luck.

Second round tee'd off at 350. 7 cards had pased on hole eight that I was spotting when I left at five.... so it could be a minute before everyone is in. Thats funny. :)

Even though the final 9 was out of control this was a great tournament. Big props to Brice, Tom, Doug, and the rest of the Crowley crew for all the work they put in. That pay out was sick, $380.00 for 4th. First place would not have got $300.00 if you know who was running it. Look forward to next year and a two flight tournament.

congrats to miles making his first true lead card, even if it was short-lived.

congrats to me for destroying the all mighty discboomer and returning to the status of "master of the universe"

and congrats to gilbert cosas for scoring the all-time worst score on a single hole with a Quadruple circle 10 .

Yes the scores are finally up!!! Well after a day of sleep, which I hope everyone that played got, I would like to say a few words about the event.

First and foremost, Doug Fritz is the MAN!!! For those of you that don't know it, Doug spent all of his last week at the course mowing so the course would be in the pristine condition it was in, then he was constantly running people and water all over the course so everyone would always have fresh cold water to drink. His tireless efforts are what allowed everyone to stay hydrated in this very long, hot and fun weekend. THANKS DOUG!!!

Next, there was Brice Longerbone, without his persistent effort to find and capture sponsors for this event, then this would have been just another B Tier in Texas. Brice's dad is very happy this event is over, so now Brice will go back to work :D. (He did continue to work until late hours of the night so neither his job nor the tournament were neglected). BIG THANKS TO BRICE!!!

And I have to thank my wife for sitting in the trailer and taking care of everyone who wanted to go home while I was out on the course keeping score for the final 9. Without her, my job would be such that I would not even get to see any golf.

Last but not least, I want to thank everyone who played and endured the high heat, long and extremely exhausting rounds of golf. I know there were several that could not bear the heat, I am not sure I could have. I am hoping that everyone had fun. Most everything was pretty smooth and flowed well.

So thanks to all, and I will look forward to next year.

And speaking of next year, I want to assure you that there will be MORE MONEY ADDED, we will have 27 permanent holes and 9 temporary holes that will allow us to have 2 flights and 4 - 18 hole rounds. We will still have a cap, but it will be closer to 200 or maybe not, we will see. After all, if what the Mayor of Crowley tells us comes true, he may help us to get 36 permanent holes. Only time will tell.

Crowley, the new best course in the DFW area?? I certainly hope so and would like to hear some other thoughts, but only from those who have played it. :D Everyone else, just sit back and listen to what is said, maybe someday you too will go and play the new and improved Crowley.

That is all for now and I'll see everyone at Twin Oaks, the next best B Tier coming.

This tourney was one of the best I have been too! Thanks to all who helped out!

As for the best course in DFW, once it has concrete teepads on every hole, and becomes a 36 hole complex, I could see it being second best. But in my opinion, nothing tops the Mighty Z.

Good tourney, Tom. I was happy to give Doug my CTP throw. I wish I could have given him more... many of us wouldn't have made it through 81 holes without his hard work.

As for the best in DFW? I don't think it will beat Cedar Hill, even with 36 holes... but it could definitely get into my top 5. Some of the Hill holes are brutal in the heat, but I can imagine they are much more fun to play when it's 30 degrees cooler :). A little work to eliminate the dangerous plants (man those things burn) and maybe a few teeboxes revisited... along with a redesign of a couple of the temp holes... it just might make #2 on my list. Even without any of those changes, it's a great layout from the white tees. Some of the reds are a bit extreme for a fun round, and most of the blues are too weenie for any type of round. The whites are a lot of fun. Of course, those are generalities... some of the blue tees became more fun with the longer baskets, and some of the reds are well-laid out... anyway, that's my feedback.

See you guys next year... make the players party on Saturday night though :)
