No matter if you play or spectate, it is worth the trip just to see it and watch the players. I had the BEST disc golf experience of my life over the last week.
As well as Tulsa does tournaments, there is nothing that compares to Rock Hill. It is the gold standard of disc golf. I just wish I had made the cut, missing by 3 strokes was hard to take. Three strokes on that course is nothing more than a fart. For instance on the last round I watched a 1030 rated player take a 13 on hole 17. :o

I think I had 1 triple bogey but no single hole score higher than that. My last round of 76 wasn't too bad considering I went OB 6 times that round.

I had a total of 6 birdies :(, 30 pars :D, 9 bogeys and 8 double bogeys and one triple.
I'm not unhappy with those numbers. ;)

Now I just need to find a way to get another crack at it. :D

Well. You can always do what Taylor Sears did and actually try and "QUALIFY"...... :o:eek: /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Furdog...dude.

You must realize that you are so not the person to make that post as you are, pretty much, the personification of the opposite end of the universe from Rock Hill.... :o

I know Little Red.

Minus the cost of driving there, how much did Taylor have to put up just for a chance to qualify?

twoputtok
Oct 08 2007, 11:27 AM
it was $50 for the first try and $25 for any additionals. Some people tried 5 times.

Yup. $50 and then $25 after that...he spent $75.

Your point?

No point other than I guess if they don't have a full field based on paid registration and exemptions, whatever is left over is open to anyone who has the money and interest to try.

I don't know how many spots that would be but I imagine that not every state sends a representative. Therefore if Dave is willing to take the chance he could always drive up there next year and give it another shot.

They hold open at least 5 spots for Monday qualifying, regardless of the number of registered players.

After Monday qualifying, they ended up having 5 players competing for the 4 remaining spots all tied at 64. The playoff took 14 holes on Tuesday morning. It had the feeling of the final lead card, it was very tense for those players. The amazing story behind this was the guy from Finland that traveled 4,500 miles just to try and qualify and he made it through the playoff. :o

My best round was a 67 in practice and it took a 64 to qualify, I highly doubt I would go just to try and get in that way but I would drive that far just to be a spectator, it is worth it.

Here is a new trend I saw out east. So when you finally see one here you'll know what to call it.

DONK!

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip. It is something special. I talked to Taylor briefly yesterday and he was very happy with his trip as well.

The course, players, staff and cash make this event what it is. It really does make you feel special when you are at the player's meeting and then you walk out to get your star. It also makes you feel special when they call your name on hole 1 each day and people clap for you even if you are teeing off at 8:30a.

How did everyone do with the first hole after hearing your name?

That's good.

Looks like MC finished hot. How much did everyone win on the handicap game. Who won the putting contest, Coda repeat?

Nice playing MC. If you don't head to the Frizz this weekend, we have a heck of a one day tourney brewing here in Arkansas this Saturday.

Thanks for the props, Heath...I would head to your tournament but the only reason i'm hitting the frizz is because one of my wifes best friends is going to be there.

I'll admit that's not exactly one of my better angles. :D

You'd had to been there to understand what it was I was looking at. My disc went to the back right of the green and you had to look under some tree limbs to see where it hit. The spotter ran over to it and it seemed like minutes went by before I got a ruling. It was probalbly on a few seconds but then BAM! GREEN Flag. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

The other reason I was so happy is that was my second drive and it stayed in by less than a foot. :o:D
Circle 5. ;)

Wow - the USDGC is here again and we have a great group of Okies/Arkies over there in Rock Hill representing us.

Devo had the very first tee time and is playing well.

Good luck to all and I hope they play well and enjoy the greatest event and week of disc golf that there is to ever experience.
