As far as I know Tulsa is still under a burn ban although I think grilling is still ok. I don't know about fires in the shelter with the fire places. Hopefully we'll get some rain before then but if worst come's to worst you can always eat a bunch of beans, bring a lighter, and fart a lot.

Not only that but this year I believe have we received permission to "Go North" on the long course which I assume means over the edge on the north side into big rock territory. We'll have to wait and see what our alternate course planners have come up with, but judging from the trash can full of empty beer cans I saw out there the other day, you might want to bring a parachute.

Oklahoma burn ban (http://www.state.ok.us/%7Eokag/redflag/govban.pdf)
Ok.....a few barks from the dog.
Burn ban is on: :(
The way I interpret the ban is grilling is ok as long as it's done over a non-flammable surface. But building a fire (as in the two fireplaces at the north shelter) is not ok. I just talked to a lady at Chandler and she said grilling was not ok so she may be confused. I wasn't going to sit there and argue with her. The two grills at the south shelter are within 5 feet of flammable material so I wouldn't use those but if you do please do it responsibly. If anyone wants to bring a grill that is fine. Make sure you set it up on a non-flammable surface but be reminded that the lady said no grilling. I think she may be wrong but the last thing you need after a long day of disc golf is to have the fire department douse your expensive steaks down to 50 gallons of city water. Worst then that you might end up having the county sheriff show up with one of those "smoke smelling" dogs.....if you know what I mean. Grill at your own risk and don't burn down Furdog's Mountain.
Food:
The original flyer said free dinner for all entered players. If you noticed on the revised flyer the entry fees were dropped and that free dinner is no longer there or the responsiblity of the TD's. Look at it this way. More money toward the payout. If you must have free food go find Bud. He'll probably be burning something. I was going to donate a box of hot dogs for grilling and put some baked beans out there but now after talking to that lady I don't want to deal with the grill. I want to party like everyone else. So I've come up with a pizza option thru Mazzio's catering. Large specialty pizza's will delivered at a specific time in the evening. The cost will be 9 bucks for a specialty. Single topping & three topping pizza's are cheaper but I would rather stick with the speciallies so it will be easier to order over the phone. I'll check on the price of the medium sizes. If you want a pizza note what kind on the entry form, pay 9 bucks when registering, and I'll contact Mazzio's at 10am and they'll deliver them in the evening when we specify. I'm thinking approx. 6pm. Nine bucks for a large specailty pizza is not that bad but if you still have a problem with it then write the password "Jerry Garcia Blast" on your entry form and I'll cover you for a dollar off. Sorry if this pizza idea upsets anyone. Look at it this way. It's pizza. It goes good with beer and it's shaped like a disc so you can throw it. :)
Camping Fee:
As Connors stated earlier we have been informed that the camping fee is $5 per person per night so the flyer is currently incorrect.

Wow - I just caught up on this thread and man has it been interesting.
I personally am looking very forward to this weekend at Chandler Stock. I know that anything that MC and FurDog work on together will be golden. I think it will be fun to see how it all works out.
We (Conner and I) are planning on camping Friday night and I can't wait. I am wanting to play a round of night golf with him and we will probably put our money in as a team for the doubles. Yeah, we will have no chance at cashing but that is not what it is about for us and cahsing is not what it is about for me during the Sat. and Sun. rounds either. It is all about the personal challenge. How well can I manage the course to shoot the best score that I possibly can. If I cash I cash, if I don't cash I don't cash. I have not cashed in an event but left feeling really good about my game and myself - that is why I play. I have cashed in events and thought you know I should have played better and felt like I really did not deserve the payout. I play to give the competitive side of me something to do. - for me that IS fun.
I am looking forward to being able to play with different people. That is not a bash on the poeple that I usually play with or the players in the Open division. I just think it might be nice to take this opporutnity to play a tourney round or two with some people that I have never been able to play with before. I just hope they will let me. I hope I am not the guy that gets left on a hole all alone because no one wants to play on my card. I think that would throw me back to that sad place from 4th grade when I went in front of the class for a spelling bee with my pants unzipped.
Wow - I guess I felt like giving tonight - probably more than anyone wanted but ohwell.
MC and FurDog - Keep your heads up this is going to be a great event all of your time and effort that you have already put into this weekend is appreciated and for all of the time and effort that you still have to give that is appreciated as well. Most people do not understand how much TD's put in before they even show up to the event.

Jose. I know from grade school experience what it's like to be the last one to be picked. It's kind of humiliating when teams are being picked and the captains are spending five minutes deciding on whether to pick you or the fat kid. Fortunately for me Dave Wise was the fat kid at my school so for the most part I was always picked second to last. ;)
As long as Wise is around you will not be left alone. :)....
As course pro , if you want I will teach you some of my famous dog shots like:
"The Tree Wacker Flip Flacker"
"The Road Skipper Branch Fling"
"The Fur Comet"
"The Picnic Table Two Finger"
and of course
"The Five Foot No Chain Flop".
It's going to be fun for everyone and I'm glad you and Connor are coming.

Cris - I thought you were on call. MC said we can play as many times as we want so I couyld play once with both of you - Conner and I will not be able to get ot the park until around 8p so any golf I play Friday night will have to be with lights.

I know of one Int. guy that is worried about playing against Advanced players. I told him, this event is a good way for top advanced players to play against the Pro's to get an idea of where they might end up- since it is not sanctioned it won't hurt them if they cash. And it's the same entry fee- so why not, right?!
The normal ADV will probably play pro
The normal AMS will be the top ADV
The normal Recs will be cashing in the flight system
The normal Drinkers will be drunk :D

Wammy - that is a good way to put it. It is hard for me to understand why people are afraid of playing against players that they "perceive to be better" than they are. I need to keep reminding myself that people play for differnt reasons and that one of those reasons is to see how much they can win each weekend.
I hope your friend still comes this weekend and hopefully they will realize they can play with "players that they perceive to be better".
Can't wait to leave Arkansas and get back home and off to FurDog's Mountain.

I heard that Furdog got booted from the park for nude disc golfing? Something about outraging public indecency.
I hit hole 9 last year at the tornado but i only got like 115$ because it was split 5way's

I think that is amazing that there was only one ace this weekend during tournament play. I think I only heard of one other ace for the weekend and that was T-Dogg's on the same hole on Friday.

Martin Norris is a freaking STUD!! !!!
I've never seen a person knock out scores and scorecards that quickly. Other people who helped with scoring was Tom Townsend, Thong Le, Devan Owens, Furdog, Chris Wagle, Mel Stacye and probably some others I don't remember right now. It seemed like random people would hop in the RV and just start helping, it was so freaking cool to have all these cool people offering their services.

After debating with Tommy T, "the dude" and Furdog about who deserves the most fun award we narrowed it down to 3 people:
1)Steve Naegle - Who partied like a rockstar all weekend and once again got sharpied up after passing out...this time someone sketched out a vulgar "male private part" leading from the bottom of his eyeball to the side of his mouth. Steve woke up in the morning and went home to get cleaned up but he had to miss his 3rd round. Just so happens Brad Zimmerman showed up on Sunday morning to play some casual (thanks for the brokeback mountain poster, Brad :D) Brad was kidding aroudn and offered to play golf for Steve. I thought it was a great idea so Brad grabbed Naegle's scorecard and played the 3rd round. Somehow Steve jumped 4 spots on the leaderboard when the 3rd round scores came in  :D
James "General" Patton - You could hear this guy all over the park the entire weekend. From what I heard he was the most requested golfer to play golf with and according to Devan there are unmentionable stories that made The General a finalist (Devan, I need to hear these stories).
Big Dave Nicholson - Let's see where do we begin? Friday night I call Big Dave to ask if we can use his frizz basket. When he answered the phone he was at home sick and sounded like a talking mule, he agreed to bring his basket out on FRIDAY NIGHT and even offered to pick up another one if he needed too. That night Big Dave was not camping out but he managed to party until 3 in the morning. Tera drove his big arse home and he made it to the course in the morning with time to spare. Saturday was when Big Dave solidified himself as a contender for most fun. After Tom Townsend and I set-up the kegs we got back over to headquarters and saw Big Dave and Brian Erwin wrestling on the grassy knoll next to the keg. Dave had Brian is a head lock and then Brian got out of it and jumped on Big Dave, Brian then turned Big Dave (gallery of about 50) on his back and began slapping his azzzz, oh man it was comedy. Not more than a few minutes after the wrestling match Big Dave gets talked into doing a keg stand. About 4 dudes get him upright over the keg and Zach Lund began pumping the beer into Big Daves mouth. The keg stand lasted for about 10 seconds until the dudes holding big daves legs dropped him. Big Dave literally face planted on the concrete and his shoulder was bashed into the side of the fireplace (it looked like it freaking hurt). He jumped up and shook it off and continued to party. Later that night Big Dave is playing night golf with a bunch of guys. Somewhere on the back 9 he somehow twisted his ankle, fell to the ground and his knee hit a rock and that's when the blood began to flow. After the round his ankle was swollen to the size of a softball and his knee looked like a 5 pound strawberry. Big Dave wakes up Sunday morning and he is understandibly in pain and is considering not finishing the tournament. He decided to play through the pain and guess what? He finished tied for 4th place.
WINNER OF THE 2006 CHANDLER TORNADO MOST FUN AWARD WAS:

Wow, What a party! Fur dog, little moose and commish.Thank you sooo much for such a great time at the 2006 Tornado. All of you did such a great job,I truely want to say to you and everyone Diane and I came in contact with THANK YOU for making us feel so welcome this weekend.I can't tell you how much it meant to us.It just shows that disc golfers out of all sports still have love in there heart and are truely good human beings.Through the years Diane and I have made many good friends that will last a life time.I'll have to say that my decision to retire was a very hard one.I will say that all to admins of the TDSA and The Worlds admins are all class acts and do things behind the scenes that take alot of their personal time and effort, Something that I had very little of these days. Do to my work load and job stress in the last few months.Real life came in and slaped me down for a few months and is allmost getting back to normal.I can't tell you how much stress was taken off my shoulders stepping down from my posision. As an admin for the TDSA I wasn't really doing my job thing like TDSA meetings and the worlds councel, And it started to bug me, Not only as a TDSA admin,But, Also as a man.If a man says he'll do something he should do it.And I wasn't doing it.People think that running a 100 - 300 people tourny is hard,Dude try setting up and running the worlds, there are countless hours of hard work and devotion involved.so if some admins are getting alittle short right now,Please understand that this 2006 worlds thing has been on their shoulders for months now and I'm sure is getting pretty heavy. Then I came in and said I retire! I'm sorry for the short notice but I really fought with this for months prior to retiring.and said to myself --- or get off the pot.I just could not continue at this time in my life.and as it turned out every thing went without a hitch at the 2006 Tornado.Diane and I would like to thank all that stood behind us during this time in our lifes. It was so rewarding to us both to have everyone coming up to us and saying all the nice things that were said. Thanks to all who wished us a happy annivesrary and to all who said job well done in the past. Not one person had anything bad or negitive to say to us.We felt so loved and happy, something we havn't felt in months this weekend filled us with so much love and happiness we can't tell you thanks enough times. We are very pleased Fur dog and Marie will be running the Tornado now.It could not have been given to two better people.Scott and Marie will keep all of the traditions alive that all the former T D 's have started,And I'm sure will have alot to give from theirselves.Scott appeared excited to run the Tornado next year and will continue to show everyone a great time. Scoott and Marie did a great jobs on the t-shirts with so little time to get r done. And so did THE COMMISH. Thanks guys for a job well done this weekend. And Thanks Tong for all your help and every body who helped with this great weekend.Your in good hands with your new TD's at Chandler, And nothing could make Diane and I happier. We look forward to seeing everyone there every year.Chandler as you all know has a very special place in our hearts,After all, we got married at Chandler Park. Thank you Diane and John green.

Apr 25 2006, 07:08 PM
Well I just woke up and what can I say. What a great weekend we had for disc golf. First of all I'd like to apologize for the fact that I brain farted and forgot to mention the following people at the awards ceremony for their contributions and help this weekend and if I forget anybody I'm sorry. Most of them are mentioned on the back of the t-shirt but I think they all deserve some recognition here on the board. They're all heros to me.
First of all...... Mike and Julie Connors . This event would not have happened if Mike had not stepped up to run it. He was the # 1 man all weekend and he and his beautiful wife Julie (working on her birthday weekend) did a fantastic job organizing everything. This was his first time running a two day event and as far as I'm concerned.....it rocked. Thanks Mike for bringing the RV and giving the volunteers a semi quiet place to work. Also, thanks for bringing up the golf cart. Even though it was a pain getting that thing into my truck it sure made it a lot easier to get around to put out CTP flags and such. A lot of people may not realize it but due to unforeseen circumstances which I'm not going to mention here Mike only got about two hours of sleep on Saturday night. When I first saw him on Sunday morning he looked like a ghost. Still on top of that everything ran smooth on Sunday. Thanks again Commish. Your events are sweet.
Martin Norris .......I tell you this guy kicked butt on the scoring. He showed up Friday night to set up. Then he spent most of the day in the RV having to deal with not only the scoring but with people constantly opening the door asking questions. When he left to go home on Saturday night he had all the cards grouped and ready to go for in the morning. And when the final cards came in he knocked them out in record time. Just another "behind the scenes" guy making things happen like he did at the OK Open and the Duncan Hillclimber. Thanks Martin for helping to make this event shine. :D
Dan Bougher ......Who made the trophies and not only that, brought out a heavy engraver so the trophies could be personalized with the winners names. That's way cool. I've never seen that at an event before. Thanks Dan.
Volunteers.......You know I volunteered to help run this thing but almost every time I asked Connors what he wanted me to do someone had already stepped up and completed it. I started feeling lazy even though I didn't want to be lazy. Tom Townsend (who also was a sponsor) helped all weekend with score cards, beer keg runs, and at one point, drove a lost junior in the golf cart to his assigned hole. (How cool is that experience for a junior?) Thong Le (who almost ran over Bud Johnson with the golf cart) ran home, passed out and forgot to pick up his pizza. I'm saving it for you buddy. Aaron Swaggert for staying late and helping load the kegs and get the golf cart into my truck. Marie for helping sell t-shirts and running back home to get things I forgot. Steve (Sharpie Canvas) Naegele and Cindy for staying late to sweep and clean up around the shelter. I'm sure there were many others that Connors knows about. Thank you all. :)
Alternate Course....... Joyle Deering, Juby, and Skywalker What I did get to play of it looked great. Thanks guys.
Jay Slack .......Very cool glass dude. Some players couldn't wait to use their players pack right away. ;)
Sponsors......We had a few cool cats who contributed some cool stuff. SDGA, Tom Townsend, Carla Bocox, Bob Reiger, Jose Mendoza , to name a few. Connors might have the names of a few more. Gary Nail threw in some QT gas cards and took some pictures. I can't wait to see them. Wayne Forrest threw in some cool stuff. Thanks Wayne for stepping in on "Ring of Fire". Thanks Mitch Mac for getting it started and I apologize for pulling you out but Wayne is the king of the ROF speech. I started to donate a case of motor oil but I think Wayne has the copyright on that. I promise next year Wayne we'll let you actually play in the ROF. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Pat Standingbear and the Tulsa County Parks Department You know it's really a gift for us disc golfers to be allowed to camp out there. I hope everyone understands that and realizes that privilege can be taken away. We raised $190 in camping fees for the parks department. Actually it will be $210 once I throw twenty dollars in for the two nights that Marie and I spent there. If for some reason someone camped and purposely did not pay, then please don't show up next year. The more money we raise for the parks department the better. If you can't afford $5 bucks a night to camp at such a beautiful park then maybe you should stay home and camp in your back yard. :p
Let's let them know that we disc golfers appreciate this gift, show them that we are good people and good for the park, and not take their kindness for granted. That includes cleaning your camp area and leaving it the way you found it. Chandler is not set up for camping. In some areas there is only one trash can and just because it starts to overflow doesn't mean we should just toss our trash on the ground and leave it. Bring trash bags and if you forget then ask around and we will find you some. I haven't talked to Mr. Standingbear yet but I hope every disc golfer remembered to clean their camp. Connors noticed a few that could have used a little more attention. It's possible that it could have been a non-disc golfer that snuck in and camped undetected. Anyway just remember that it can only take one complaint to shut the doors on this event so make sure the complaint is not about you or someone you brought. Thanks again Pat.
I'd like to thank the 83 people that showed up to play and enjoy the lazy daze on my mountain. As the new course TD out there I have a lot to learn and volunteering to help Connors run this was a good way to get experience for next year. Thanks again to everyone that showed up and helped carry on the tradition.
Now.....I got a question.
What is the deal with the OKC camp? I walked thru there about 12:15 on Saturday and it's all crickets and hoot owls. :(... Then I walked over to the Stillwater camp and they're all up partying, floating air biscuits, and singing "Koom by Yaw". Do the Stillwater people have more spirit or what? :o... They even served up a marshmallow "glob" that was very tasty. I can only assume that it was the great cooking by Joe Ed that put all the OKC people to bed early but then again maybe it was the keg that we dropped off. Someone tell me it wasn't so?

Furdog and Commish, we all had a great time. The payouts were great and the entire experience was fantastic.
Any chance of getting the scores posted???
Thanks again for stepping up and setting a great example.

... man , and I thought I was long-winded ... :o
.
... now it's my turn ...
.
... added thanks to FurDog for getting John's comments in here , and I know that John & Diane can still view the threads "anonymously" ... first I'll aim at you guys :
.
... props to you John Green ... for your past , present , and future ... isn't part of Diamond's "Brother Love's Travellin' Salvation Show" about "a Revival" ? ... cuz that get's a little "twilight zone" scary ... years ago (when you attacked the Mack) , the annual tournament out there was on life-support ... not much in attendance , not much going on ... somebody kick-started it -and- the "Halloween Hootennanny" Harley rumbled to life ... you cut your teeth out there , you honed your skills , and then your "Show" went "Travelling" a little southwest to Chandler ... that annual event had "stumbled" as well ... with frequent TD changes and other situations that caused an Event at Chandler to skip over some years here 'n' there ... did I mention "Revival" ? ... hooking up with Zooc and rubbing elbows with County Parks bosses , you cooked up something that Rick Neil "could never get to fly" in all his years : Overnight Camping in Chandler Park ... unprecedented ... 115 , 140 , 173 ... need I say more ? ... you set 'em up the right way ; and ran 'em the right way ... although this may sound like a "butter-'em-up" deal ; it is not ... this ain't panderin' ... just callin' 'em like I see 'em ... which is easy , by the way ... after all : I've attended every Event that John has ever run ... and it's not like we've always seen "eye-to-eye" on everything ... we've had differences , sure ... that's what Men do ... you stand up for -or- speak out for what you feel is right ... like if your "too-short-Course" is getting attacked -and- defending it is not the "cool thing" to do ... or defending your format or payout when nay-say-ers come about crying ... I think John & I both never worry about what the "cool thing" is ; staying more concerned with what "the right thing" is ... and worry not , I don't think John & Diane are gonna grow stale on the shelf ... justa lotta "The Real World" that they needed to take on "full-time" ... it happens to a lotta good people sometimes ... they both know full well what it takes to set-up & get-thru Events like this ... and yet methinks that "down-the-road" , they may have more "Revivals" in store for us all :) ...
.
... and speaking of the "set-r-up" and "get-r-done" routine that Event TD's go through ; how 'bout ol' MC and SS ? ... diving in on short notice and tackling that Job ... getting done "what-was-needed" -and- "when-it-was-needed" ... big props to both these Guys ( and assembled Staff ) ... even when some of the help tries to "stay low in the background" ; I always notice "the background" ... and know full well what it means to an Event ... and as far as the "Twin-TD's" credentials ? ... you got your Above & Beyond ... ( I don't know which one's which though ) :D...
.
... after all : I've been to every Event that Mike has ever run ... and can also say : I've been to every Event that Scott has ever run ... :D
.
.
.
... 'nuff said ...

Looking at who finished where and how everything played out as far as the divisions - I would say it was a very successful breakdown. Only one person (Am winner really played out of division) and 11 ladies in one division is awesome. I really think I am going to use a very similar division breakdown when "BUBBa" comes around at The Bunker after worlds.
I even got a chance to play with Linda Chandler in the second round and I really enjoyed it. That is the second time we got to play together at Chandler.

I got to play with Linda also, and that round Jose speaks of I was lucky enough not to get kicked off of the card. It was a great time getting to play with Jose, Linda, and Cris.
I am looking forward to next year already. Just 362 more days /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

SWEET! It would get my 1000% support....Any tourney that wants to pay AMS out in a flight system will get my 100,000% support. Flight Sytem payout eliminates sandbagging soooo GOOD!

Josh played some good golf, this was his first tournament in a very long time...From what he told me, he played the best golf of his life last weekend so in my book he deserves credit for the W.

Wayne is the king of the ROF speech.
Wish I could have been there guys, I know you had a great time. Maybe one of these days when my kids are older....
Ummm...ahem. I love Wayne Forest. I know few people in DG who are finer people than Wayne, if any. BUT...
I guess we'll see who runs ROF at the Okie Doubles this year. :D
Hope to see you soon, T-Town

Sorry about running off without leaving you a disc with the scoring on it, but to be honest I didn't have one. And that machine doesn't have internet. I will bring the laptop and a disc to the meeting tonight so I can cut you a copy of everything if you still want it.
