For those interested in a great warm-up event for the FriZZak Open, come to Renny Muleskins (http://www.charlottedgc.com/renny_muleskins_06.htm) on Sunday, April 2nd.

With lots of cash added, you have the chance to win back your entry fee by 6 to 10 times. These are absolutely way better odds across the board than any PDGA event you will ever play.

We'll be playing a combination of 24 holes so you will get a chance to play every hole on the course (well, at least every fairway). You can't beat this as a warm-up event!

Wonder if anyone played today. Wow was it windy! I was playing with a bunch of middle schoolers throwing 130g Sharks, and man, they stuck with it for 9 holes. in 40 mph winds. Lots and lots of negative yardage throws. That TeeRex was doing well into a straightup headwind though. Got to get a lot of putting practice today, I need it too, my short game is atrocious, but I just put money down so I could get a basket in the front yard, so watch out in a few months, I may find my short game just yet!

Hey FriZZaks - I got no response on the Charlotte FO thread. What do you think of this idea? Are there plans for doubles Friday PM?

Are there any plans for doubles on Friday? If not, I'll run it.

Here's my proposal for a low stress round on a high stress course (who needs stress in a warm up round anyhow?):
* 4pm
* $10 Random grouping with Local/visitor pairings as much as possible.
* Gold course
* One Mulligan per Team per hole.
* Payout (per team) is $3 for every stroke below 75.
* Remainder (if there is leftover money after all is paid out) goes to 4 cash CTPs. (left over $$ gets divided by 4 and paid out to CTP winners)

This a a fun and low stress payout method since you are competing only against your own score. We played the "$1 per stroke under 55, leftovers to CTPs" format at Cam Yards this winter and it worked out great.

Whadya think? It is a proposal that could easily be tweeked (or scrapped).

before blasting off with this idea (or a modification of it) I would want your OK since this is "all FriZZaks all weekend".

FRIDAY DOUBLES!

Here is the plan:

This is the place to be for a low stress round on a high stress course (who needs stress in a warm up round anyhow?):

* 4pm sign-ups start, 4:30pm tee (sunset is at 7:45pm)
* Random grouping with Local/Visitor pairings as much as possible.
* $10 per person ($20 per team)
* Gold course
* One Mulligan per Team per Hole.
* Payout (per team) is $4 for every stroke below 74.
* Remainder (if there is leftover money after all is paid out) goes to 4 cash CTPs. (left over $$ gets divided by 4 and paid out to CTP winners).
* If people want to peel off and check out original holes (even throw a drive on them), they can.

This is a fun and low stress payout method since you are competing only against your own score. We played the "$1 per stroke under 55, leftovers to CTPs" format at Cam Yards this winter and it worked out great!

If you shoot a theoretical best score of 54, your team will make $80.
If you shoot a good score of 64, you double your money - your team will make $40.
If you shoot fair score (remember this is doubles with mulligans) of 68, you make $24.
If you shoot a 69 you break even. Any score higher than 73 does not cash.

If the average score of all teams is 69 or better, CTPs will be worth $0 (and the payout will be adjusted appropriately)
If the average score of all teams is 71, CTPs (4 of them) will be worth $2 x # of teams. (this is my bet as to what the average will be)
If the average score of all teams is 73, CTPs (4 of them) will be worth $8 x # of teams!
SoCTPs could be worth a lot if people do not score well!

CTPs will be on holes 1 (2nd shot), 2 (2nd shot), 6 and 8.

It certainly wouldn't hurt.

Especially with a "ghost card".

19 groups on 18 holes at one of the slowest playing courses around. We are in for 2 very long days.

I am going to go out on a limb and say I am going to be exhausted Sunday night.

Well, heres the thing...Not only does the 1 round sunday get everyone home in time for dinner, but it also makes the possibility of spill over holes a reality. If we get a break because of weather or a super slow round, we will call an end to the day and finish the holes you played, were playing.
Also. The speed of play rules and standards will be strictly enforced at this event. I encourage all players to warn and stroke competitors for slow play...This is not a putting green; ITS RENNY> ...Ten a.m. sharp is the start. Be at your hole or hope you're on the bottom of the card.

Obviously, thanks to all the FriZZaks for a very smooth and well run tournament. I've always said that the best TD's are players that play a lot of tournaments, b/c they know what to do and what not to do - and this was proven this weekend.

Thanks to Wit and Lisa for putting me up like usual!

As always, thanks (or curses depending on how you look at it) to Stan for his sick mind, incredible work ethic and desire to get this course to where it is now. Guys like him (and Trip who is taking over) are irreplaceable!!!

And thanks to Schweb for showing me all kinds of goofy thumber releases over the years - they came in handy here and there!

Forgot to mention that the 25 minutes with the car off discludes the 40-50 of total stoppage, and hour to hour and fifteen minutes it took to travel 5ish miles. Shouldn't have stopped for Wendy's, would have only hit your 10 min. jam.

Awesome event. I finally played a few cleanish rounds on the gold. had I shot better on the shorts, I might've had my first over $100 cash. Big thanks to all the workers, both course and event. There are a lot of people behind the scenes at these events, and even I have no idea all of the man/woman hours involved.

Glad Sjur sold his left manhood for the decent weather. It was almost worth it.

Enjoyed playing with Brad Benton, the unknown phenom. He cashed in his first pro tournament this weekend... 12 years after his last tournament. I saw this guy hit some huge putts on Saturday. Hope to see him at some more tournaments, perhaps even at a tournament in Gastonia when they get a course.

I enjoyed playing with my groups. Got 6 birdies on the shorts in Feldberg's group... and he still beat me by 4. Then busted out a couple huge shots from the longs with sidewinders. That was probably the highlight of my day. That and not getting any double bogeys on the Gold course today. I can't recall the last time I did that. Which probably means I never have.

Thanks for a fun weekend, Friday till Sunday night. Hope all enjoyed it.

Matt

I like "The Carpetbagger Open". The North invade the South. A challenge is set forth to get as many non-local pros to attend, to experience, to testify to, the greatness of Renny.

Once they come, they may never go back. We allow a $10 discount for out of state pros (NC or SC) to allow the challenge to expand to more pros with a desire to come to Renny for the challenge, not just for the cash. Hopefully it will not fall on Bowling Green Weekend.
