No, if you give up your spot it goes to the next person on the waitlist or someone would have bought all 180 spots and sold them all on Ebay.

There is probably something in place in the tournament standards that prohibit this from happening. If I was the TD, I would not allow someone to register more than once for a tournament, or even in multiple divisions.

It amazes me how the lights come on for everyone...when we go "out of the box" with some scheme to generate more money.

as far as selling your spot on ebay...we would not acknowledge your doing so...you signed up for the tourney...if your not playing...the next player on the wait list gets in. Except if you happened to sell it to the next person on the waiting list...probably pretty difficult to pull off with an auction.

Why doesn't this work with what we are doing? We were up front from the beginning that we would be reserving two spots for ebay purposes...so everybody that is on the wait list now...is there because they procrastinated..and we know that the WVO WILL SELL OUT...it did last year...

Mark,

If you are the seller for these two WVO spots, you can track the number of people actually watching your auctions.

Log into ebay with your user ID and password, click on "My eBay" at the top of the screen, then click on the "Selling" link. The window that opens will show you the total number of bids as well as the total number of folks watching the auction.

I beleive you all should be concerned with, "who will win the best campsite award!" Currently Camp Ohio holds the trophy. (the black truck nutz)

Regarding the "best campsite award", does the WVO Camp Evaluation Program account for the quality (and/or presence) of fine tequila within the campsites? If so, I believe the judges might consider designating one or two individuals to conduct the census... :D :D :D

He (http://www.sharkysshots.com/albums/userpics/10002/cvmonthly312060018.jpg) did not. However I would offer this sliver of hope JB said he would use the money for paw paw supplies so maybe. ;)

I am, however, totaly biased. Although, I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally.

Aug 16 2006, 10:14 PM
Don't be confused ... the best campsite award is completely separate from tournament performance. It seems Camp Bugly set the standard when we won the First Annual Best Campsite award two years ago. I don't believe we are eligible any longer as Susi prohibits professionals ... only amatuer campers are allowed to compete

I get your drift.I will always be reminded of my actions 3 years ago or maybe 4 .
Just bought a brand new screened tent 150.00 still in the box when I got there.come back from round 1 to a totally destroyed mound of debri.Tent gone ,sleping tent gone ,all clothing wear soaked and wet,all belongings under tent gone destroyed,so instead of staying I decided to go home.I know there were plenty of people half my size offering clothes to wear,a place to sleep and food to eat.I was a just a little #$*&$! off that all this had happend to me and only me what luck....Its definitly something that I will always remember.
For the record I have been there for the end for the past few years even though I have not cashed yet...The people that I ride with are trying to get paid so they can get on the road for 5 hour drive ahead us..
I have a suggestion do like biscoe does,Noone will get their money until everyone is in and all scores are tallied if you cant wait give me postage and Ill send your money.

is there any water provided on the course

Drinking water? Yes, there are coolers placed around the courses and are refilled as needed.

Rain water? Depends on Ernesto

Swimming water? Take a dip in the Whippin' Post Spa (clothing optional)

fire water? Visit camp MD and sample their vast array of Mexican Fire Water.

Bottled Water? WE'd be glad to put some in a bottle for you.

Mineral Water? Drink the pond water...that is loaded wit vitamins!

Ground Water? I really have a difficult time accomplishing this, the mortar and pestle keep getting wet.

spring Water? How's about some SUMMER water?

Sea Water? I see water all the time, but when I open my eye in the pool water it stings.

does that effectively answer your question?

Answered quite well actually. I appreciate it.

Perhaps I'll have to teach a new recipe to camp Maryland concerning firewater while I'm out there.

Unless something has changed since Monday, my understanding is that Brock has cancelled the gig. Trapasso called me the other night to make sure I was coming up with my vintage skins, so it will be Team Mike and guests providing the jams all weekend.

I know this may sound absurd, but is anyone staying in room. I have called the hotels and Inn's in all the surrounding towns, and they are all booked.

My camping gear is still drenched from MSDGC and I just don't think I have it in me to camp in a hurricane. My hands are still pruned from last weekend.

Anyone know of a place to stay?

Jeannie - it may be a long shot but I rented a cabin for a week this summer and I noticed that they do weekend rentals

I put a call into them to check on it but their number is

Berkley Springs Rentals - 866-682-2246 or 304-258-5300

give them a call and I will post my finding when they return my call.

WVOmorningwood
Aug 31 2006, 11:09 AM
Just spoke to Suzanne at Berkeley Springs rental and she says they DO Weekend rentals and they have several large and small cabins still available for this weekend...the large cabins sleep up to 8 people so you may need to find some friends to sleep with!!!

It may taper off by Friday night. It will all depend on how Ernesto fairs after hitting the NC mountains. It has unexpectedly gained strength in the last few hours and is expected to hit the NC coast tonight. They are calling for 6 to 9 inches of rain here in SE Va., but not as much in WVa.

Keep an eye on the forecast and prepare accordingly.

between 7 and 9 inches of rain in VA today according to the news...how about keeping the tradition of a Sunday/Monday tournament instead of moving it to Saturday/Sunday.

It just makes sense this year, doesn't it???

Seriously...can we consider this?

I'm hanging back in good 'ole Laurel getting ready for the early morning trip out to paw paw and discover my umbrella is missing so I mosey out to the Sports Authority and puruse the golf umbrellas (they actually still had some) 62 inch or 67 hmmm, larger should be better with this rain, but manuevering the 62 incher on the woodshed may work out better.... I bought them both of course. :DYeeee hawwww see you soon.

You gotta love holidays. I'd be hating life if I had to be at work in cubeland today after a long weekend at Paw Paw. The fair-weathered disc-golfers that did not come out this weekend due to the weather forecast on Friday missed a really great time, as it wasn't nearly as much rain and wind as predicted, the tournament was run in top-notch fashion, and the players package/dinner was excellent.

My favorite moment of the weekend came on the pro's next-to-last hole of the final (woodshed 18) when Skinner was standing over his second shot, getting ready to go, when a dog wandered out onto the fairway right into his line about 25' away from him. Well, he graciously backs away and the gallery attempts to get this dog out of the fairway, but the dog just sorta stopped and didn't move. Well, turned out this dog had a little #2 business to take care of and he decided to remedy the situation right then and there. Everyone started rolling, Skinner included. After the minute or so of comedy, he stepped back up there, put one thru the tree-gap besdie the barn, and skipped it past the basket. I'm quite sure there is video out there of this.

We had our share of excitment before, during and after the rounds. Let see what reprocussions come out of our instances...
