My parents invided us on a 7 day cruize at the end of may. They are paying for airfare and the cruize, we just have to pay for everything else, so not many out of town tournaments for me this summer :D
Waterloo is still high on my priority list though. McC note challage for me as soon as I know.

Jake, Patty Justice is the head honcha for COTO. If you gave it to Dave, make sure he gets it to Patty.
I wouldn't worry about losing Pease before COTO, if we even lose it at all. Nothing goes through city government that fast. Besides, I think I saw a blind salamander living in one of the poles, so the course might be preserved for eternity. :D

Nah, I smacked that salamander with an errant throw and some tree hugger saw it. They got pretty busted up over the whole ordeal of the cute little blind salamander being smashed and said they were reporting it to the city council at the next meeting session. I asked "what is the big deal by creaming one little lizard" they replied that salamanders have rights too! So everybody can blame me if the course is lost forever! :D

Just a reminder that your help is needed this Saturday, April 22nd; 9 am 1 pm.
Specific to disc golf, there will be 2 events going on during: Austins Its My Park Day.
1) The Waterloo Clubs work day at Pease Park. Items to be done include: painting the new bulletin board; prepare/cleanup a couple of alternate boxes; some brush and tree trimming (especially on #15); and trash pickup Come help clean up and improve the disc golf course and get it ready for the big Capital of Texas Open in May. Snacks and drinks available. Please bring work gloves, loppers, shovels, and rakes.
Be careful to select the Clubs project when registering as there is another project at Pease Park too by a different group (removing non-native plants and some erosion control on one of the hillsides and they are going to have a short disc golf clinic afterwards J Gotta love it!)
2) The South Austin DGAs work day at Mary Moore Searight. They are going to replace some benches, clean up the course, remove graffiti, and more. Lunch will be provided. Golf afterwards.
Projects will be going on in lots of Austins parks. You can see a full list of projects by going to the Austin Parks Foundation website: http://www.austinparks.org/ItsMyParkDay.html
Heres how you can help: go to the site above and register as a volunteer on one of the projects; then show up on the 22nd and help improve a park. Oh, and help spread the word and get other golfers and friends to come help too. Even if you dont pre-register, just show up at the park on Saturday morning and help us make a difference.
However, if you pre-register by Wednesday, there will be a shirt available for you in your size from Austin Parks Foundation, plus youll help us gauge how much drink and snack to have available.
This is an excellent opportunity to show that disc golfers care about our parks and that we want to maintain and improve them.
I also saw a park cleanup project at Bartholomew. It is not specific to disc golf, but Im sure theyd love some disc golfers to help, and cleaning up the creek is certainly something that will make the course nicer. If you go, be sure to let them know you are a golfer and that you are there because you care about the park.
Thanks,
Waterloo Disc Golf Club

Hello everyone,
The player list will be updated this afternoon, and will have everyone I have info on up to today. Please let me know if youre not listed & have entered, and verify your division.
Lunch will be available both days. One day will be on us, and the other will be $5 for everything. More details to come
There will be an awesome raffle that will include a San Saba basket as well as lots of other cool stuff!
Dont forget about Doubles on Friday. Flex tee off starting at 1:30 ($20.00 per team..pay at the park).
We have TWO beer sponsors for COTO this year! The Real Ale Brewing Company in Blanco and New Belgium Brewing will each be providing kegs for our weekend enjoyment.
Finding Hotels (in the downtown area) with Prom & the State UIL competitions going on has not been easy, but heres what we have:
Suburban Lodge
2501 south IH35 Austin Tx 78741
512-712-9920
They were only able to block 10 rooms for us. Two of those are already taken, so, there are 8 still available.
The rate is $49.99/night
Each room has: 2 queen sized beds, a kitchenette, I-net access, & cable.
Please reference the Capital of Texas Open when reserving one of the rooms. It may be easiest to call Mitch at 512-563-6482 and get a confirmation # before you contact the hotel.
Entries are flyin in! Sign up TODAY on titledisc to secure your spot.

I would hope not, there is only 5 in open and plenty of other divisions only have about 2 or 3 cards of players and not many out of town players at all much less out of state. TD's should start capping divisions so that players get to play with a decent amount of people, I really feel sorry for the open players I would hate to know that I only had to play against 4 or 5 other players. I played a tournament last year that only had about 9 or 10 people in my division and I wont go back there again to play against 1 other card.
Pros are notorious for trying to sign up the last minute.....no reason to punish others because of it.
Though it is disheartening to have such small divisions....
Whatsa TD to do....

small open field
lots of OB
kegs=drunk golfers and lots of circles
calculators used for scoring

This info tells me two things:
1) Maybe the MPO's are the one's that don't like the OB string/paint.
2) MPO's definitely need to rethink their registration strategies.
james_mccaine
May 15 2006, 03:45 PM
I heard that the string was simply going to be used to define existing OB, rather than make the course more challenging/interesting. Therefore, theory #1 would have to be reversed. That being said, with the exception of me and a couple of other unnamed people, that issue is probably not important, even though it should be. :D

Will the Pro women play a final or just the first round on Sunday?
justice
May 17 2006, 09:26 PM
All divisions will have a final, but there will be a 'cut' after the 3rd round. Basically, everyone in the $ will play a final 9.
