He told me after TX States he was going to play Open and not accept the cash as a way to get ready for Tulsa. I think it would be in his best interest to play against players that are better than him as a way to prepare for what Worlds will be like. It was fun,and Waterloo Discgolf Club made some $$$$$.
$4 of every registration fee went to Waterloo DGC. But this should not be a surprise revelation to anybody --- it was clearly stated that this fee would be deducted (as well as the $4 per entry to EDGE) on the entry form, and on the very first post on page one of this thread.
So WDGC, which does a tremendous amount of work and good on behalf of the entire disc golf community in Austin, added about $600 to their operating budget from entry fees. Good for them, as I have little doubt that the money will be put to good use.

well, ya take 8 bucks out of a 41 dollar entry, and then take out the players pack of about 15, and you've got less than 20 left for payout. at first glance the numbers seemed small, but they are 100% right on.
Austin people, that was a perfect tuornament! congrats to the incredible crew that makes austin golf some of the best in the world! the course was fantastic... really liked the new longer holes. and the lines areexcellent - no questions about OBs at all. any those lines really dont make the course much tougher. maybe a little teenie weenie bit, but even a shot that is just "decent" doesnt bring those lines into play.
great job AUSTIN!!!

If you want to complain about the $$$ move to Utah where 968 golf and 3rd place in the 12 person open division gets you $295. 1st got $625 and based on the ratings Olse would have beaten him. :D
Also for you old guys 1st in masters got $525 for 972 golf in an 11 person division.
Utah disc golf tourneys are awesome. Seems to me they had all am payouts donated to the tourney. Almost all of the money went to the pro payout. Utah Challenge at Solitude is a must go to if you want a chance at big money. Just look at last years payout. This isnt official, but talking to the TD, it looks like top three will make at least $1000.

its hard to say, especially cuz i didnt really take much notice of what the other divisions were doing score-wise. i went 62-56-56, which i am thinking will end up around something like 920-950-940. but that is just a big uninformed guess.

Thank you all for supporting E.D.G.E. and Austin area disc golf!
Overall, this bein' my first T.D. job and all, I think everything went pretty smoothly.
I'd like to thank the Staff, again, & again! Great job guys. This event could not have been what it was without you!
Great weather, friends, & fun!
The technological gods were not with us this weekend, but we, somehow, got through it.
I knew there would be questions regarding the AM payout (back in January), and wanted to post the breakdown Sunday morning. However, there were technical difficulties that became a priority.
Here's the breakdown:
MA1 paid a $41 entry. $4 of that goes directly to E.D.G.E. (as advertised), $4 to the club (as advertised), $3 to the PDGA (as always), and we took $12 out for the almost $40 players pack. That leaves $18 per entry for payout. With 39 total MA1 players, that leaves a grand total of $648 to pay out. The PDGA payout tables (which we followed) go deep and flat. All of that combined with a lower entry fee (do to the new PDGA maximum entry tables) resulted in the payout you received. We could have also deducted $ spent on trophies (not cheap and very awesome trophies I might add) and park fees, but we did not.
I'm not going to breakdown each division here, but I hope this helps ease the frustration (and you should now be able to do the math for the other divisions).
My personal opinion is that AMs get trophies only, and shouldn't come as a surprise to those who know me. So, El Chile, you should actually feel very glad for all the AMs!
:D
As for the Doubles Results, I will try to get them up tomorrow, but have to re-enter scores do to more technical difficulties.
There were 2 raffle prizes not claimed, and I'll post those winning #'s tomorrow as I do not have that information with me right now. (the basket has been claimed)
Thanks again to all! See ya on the course! (wow....I'll actually get to play again :))

SuperGirl and I had a great time at this years COTO. The course was great and so were the people. Nicole will definitely try to play again next year. She was very happy with the way she played. After a bad first round of 82, she was 11 strokes out of first. She then came on strong shooting 71, 70, and a final nine of 31 to finish 2 strokes out of first place. When she saw the scores posted at the park, she noticed that she beat 2 of the rec men, and her final nine round was better than one of the rec men. This made her day and convinced her that one day she might beat me.
The only thing she was disappointed in was that the rec divisions (men and women) did not get ratings for their rounds. She really pays attention to her round ratings to measure her improvement and compare herself to other junior girls and women players around the country. So she was disappointed when she saw her rounds were not rated. Therefore she asked me if I could estimate what her round ratings would have been had the rounds actually been rated. So I came up with the following estimates. I know they are probably way off, but this is the best I could come up with. If anyone can think of a better estimate, please let me know.
The rec women and rec men played the same tees as everyone else except for holes 3 and 7. The best estimate I could come up with was by guessing what she would have shot from the regular tees for those holes. On hole 3, she could easily throw over the creek. Since the creek is not very wide, she could throw over it using an approach shot (rather than a drive) and be fairly accurate (especially if she was lying up rather than shooting at the basket with her first throw). Once over the creek, the approach to the basket is relatively short. So I a guessing that playing from the regular tee box on hole 3 would add 1 stroke to her score. Therefore I will add 2 strokes to her estimated score just to be on the conservative side. However the real difference is probably less than one stroke (for example, if she played the hole 10 times from each box, she might average 3.5 from the short tee and 4.2 from the regular tee).
During the final nine she threw from the regular tee on hole seven. She landed in the middle of the fairway about 30 feet away from the temp 7a basket (she missed the putt). From there she would have been in a great position to throw at the basket had she been playing the regular hole seven layout. So I am guessing that playing from the regular tee box on hole 7 would have added 1 or 2 strokes to her score. Considering she is capable of reaching almost every hole on the course in 2 strokes, I would predict that playing hole seven from the regular tee box would add less than 2 strokes to her score. In other words, it would take her less than 3 throws from the regular tees to reach the spot where her 1st throw landed when throwing from the short tees. But I will add 3 strokes to her estimated score just to be on the conservative side.
Therefore if I add 5 stokes to each round (2 for hole 3 and 3 for hole 7), her estimated scores are 82+5=87, 71+5=76, and 70+5=75. If I compare these scores to the closest adv womens scores (using a 9.5 rating points per stroke factor), I get the following ratings:
Round 1 - closest adv womens score =81 with a round rating of 742.
Therefore 85 81 = 4.
4 * 9.5 = 38.
742 38 = 704.
SuperGirls estimated round 1 rating 704.
Round 2 - closest adv womens score = 75 with a round rating of 794.
Therefore 76 75 = 1.
1 * 9.5 = 9.5.
794 9.5 = 784.
SuperGirls estimated round 2 rating 784 (this would have been her highest rated round ever)
Round 3 - closest adv womens score = 76 with a round rating of 761.
Therefore 75 76 = -1.
-1 * 9.5 = -9.5.
794 + 9.5 = 770.
SuperGirls estimated round 3 rating 770.
If anyone can think of better estimates, please let me know. I want to show her my estimates tomorrow.
Once again, we really enjoyed the tournament and hope to be back again next year.
Thanks..Rick

On Saturday during the tournie we came upon the second bridge (the scarier one) and we noticed a baby bird had fallen out of its nest and was laying on its back in the dirt barely breathing. My cousins boyfriend picked it up and carried it in the palm of his hand for the rest of the round. I had made a smarty pants comment about "well thats nice of you to love it while it dies".... Good news, the little trooper bird made the trip back to San Antonio and is still alive. I know it sounds silly for those of you who didnt see it, but I cant believe that little thing is still living.
I dont know what they have named it, or if they have but I think it deserves a good one.
OH AND THANKS PATTY, MITCH AND WATERLOO!!!! Great tournie.
And Sweet Lou.....yes TWICE :)

OK,
I just re-uploaded the list, and everyone's PDGA # should be there.
There will still be some changes to those who didn't finish, etc., but I wanted to be sure the #'s that should be there are there.
No, Seewhere, your name was not on the either of the tickets. No names, or I wouldn't need to announce them, now, would I? ;)
