7th Annual FlynHighDiscGolf.com Pecan Park Open
Lone Star Series Qualifier
PDGA B-Tier
Hosted by Team Disaster

Tournament Information
Team Disaster is proud to present the 7th Annual Pecan Park Open, April 1st and 2nd (PDGA B-Tier Pro and AM). The Open will once again feature four rounds on the beautiful Nacogdoches, Texas courses of Pecan and Pioneer Park. Following the tournament we will have a six-hole Pro/AM skins match featuring the top 4 Pros of the weekend (lowest score regardless of division), the top 3 AMS of the weekend (lowest score regardless of division) PLUS the BIG RAFFLE WINNER! The Open is once again a full PDGA B-tier.

FlynHighDiscGolf.com Lone Star Series Qualifier
Playing in this event qualifies you for the LSS bonus added cash at the Texas States National Tour Event on April 22nd and 23rd.

Registration Information
www.TitleDisc.com (http://www.TitleDisc.com) registration will be up in the next few weeks. In the meantime, you can pre-register by mailing your name, phone number, pdga number, address, your divisions name and amount, ace pot ($5), non-pdga fee ($5) if necessary, and a check to: John Edwards, 6014 Sanford, Houston, Texas 77096 (make checks payable to John Edwards). Advanced Men - $48
Intermediate Men - $38
Recreational Men - $33

Non-PDGA Member Fee - $5

Skins!
The format will be alternating shot. This makes for some very interesting putts for our AM skins match participants. Starting on hole one the Pro member of the team will shoot first and it will alternate every shot after that. If the Pro putts out, the AM will drive on the next hole. Once a hole has been WON or PUSHED there will be no more shots from the other teams.

We will use safari holes.
The format will be best-shot doubles. All score ties to determine skins participants will be broken with sudden death playoffs. Each of the six holes will be worth $25 each (cash to Pros/merchandise to AMS).

Volunteer and Sponsorship Opportunities
Anyone who wants to help out either day, we can always use an extra hand! Be sure to ask one of the TDs what you can do to help. If you would like to volunteer or sponsor, shoot me an email for more information. uncdrummer@hotmail.com

Big Money Doubles
Friday afternoon doubles will be offered starting at approximately 4:00 PM. $15 per person ($30 per team) for AM divisions (Advanced, Intermediate and Recreational Men and Women). $20 per person ($40 per team) for Pro divisions (Open only). 1/3rd of the field will cash, and you will collect payout on Saturday.

By entering a Team Disaster disc golf tournament you agree to abide by all the rules and conditions of each event. The decisions of the tournament directors will be final. The tournament directors reserve the right to refuse entry, or disqualify players for infractions to these rules and laws. All PDGA rules apply along with any conditions detailed at each players meeting. Hey, at least this one's up on www.titleDISC.com. (http://www.titleDISC.com.) I may play, but I think I'll take it a little easier Saturday night. I guess '03 was the last time I played this one, too. I do love East Texas in the Spring. :)

I can't wait to play pioneer with no mud!!!!!!!!!

Feb 22 2006, 10:53 AM
Why in the heck would you think there will not be mud this year? Has something changed with those holes?

jeterdawg
Feb 22 2006, 11:04 AM
Flesner's got a point...it hasn't rained much over the last year. However I think Gimp is right. Most of the mud out there on Pecan and Pioneer is left over from when cave men played disc golf on them.

[Let me apologize in advance to any Geico cavemen that may be offended by the previous statement.]

[bump]

Take note -- I am in AND have signed up for the ace pot. And if I take a cut of at least 1/2 this one, I'll go ahead and pre-pay ace pots for the rest of my life!

This event is on a sweet date...we're going to come back and take Monday off, then go to Opening Day of hopefully the best Rangers season ever.

Gimp, is there a hotel deal? The hotel from last year doesn't seem to be as cheap as it was last year...

Anyone from DFW want to get in on sharing a ride/hotel room? Two of us are going and will probably stay at the Comfort Inn near Pioneer Park. We are planning on leaving very early Saturday morning if just the two of us go, but would be open to Friday night if others went with us. We'll get a two queen bed room and bring either sleeping bags or share beds.

Mar 10 2006, 11:53 AM
We did not have a hotel deal last year. I will see what I can find in the next few days.

atxdiscgolfer
Mar 10 2006, 09:58 PM
you can camp at Lake Nacogdoches, I am supposed to move that weekend and I have clients coming in from California supposedly. If I renew my lease and they cancel I will be there, $1500 ace pot at Pecan and Pioneer-someones getting paid. :D

I take 290 to 21 and such. It has more four lane roads to pass the slow pokes. Chile goes up past Whacko and then takes a right. My only advice is to avoid 79. Too many two-lane highways where it is difficult to even drive the speed limit.

What is the expected turn-out for the tournament? Has it filled in the past? I am already registered, but was wondering what to expect since this is my first time at this tournament.

Mar 27 2006, 01:14 PM
2001- 73
2002-134
2003-108
2004-102
2005-102

Oddly enough the last two years have had the exact same number of Pros(23) and the exact same number of Ams(79).

2005-102

Oddly enough the last two years have had the exact same number of Pros(23) and the exact same number of Ams(79).

And we're sitting at 50-51 right now. Wouldn't be surprised to see 80 before Friday and then hit around 110-120 by tee off.

Now then, you players reading this not already signed up, prove me right! :)

Mar 27 2006, 01:34 PM
Cool!! I love both of the courses and have never shot particularly well on them, but of course it has been almost 2 years since I played either one. This is going to be a great weekend!!!!!

jeterdawg
Mar 27 2006, 01:35 PM
I think Tony is right. We should hit around 120. About the same as the past few years, plus increased hype due to large ace pot. I think there are a lot of tourney players out there that haven't played in this one yet who don't know what they're missing. I know it's a few hundred miles away, but I would think the Bowling Green event might draw a couple of players away, plus the JDGF event at Z-Boaz might do the same since Nac has a traditional good DFW pull.

As long as advanced has 25 or so players, at least there will be good competition there.

Mar 27 2006, 01:43 PM
I beleive (i would have to check with Gimp) that the titledisc regs are above last years at this time. I beleive there to have been 60ish total pre-regs last year going into Friday. I think Tony is right on for about 120 players this year.

Should be a good one and I dont think the acepot can possibly go unhit out there.

Mar 27 2006, 01:45 PM
I still think it could be bigger than 120 with it being the last LSS qualifier before states and tons of added cash to grab at States, esp. in AM. two very fun courses and a great city to hang out in Sat night at the players party.

It is not too late to pre-reg and get the free shirt as well. Let me know Vinnie 832-279-8084

Mar 30 2006, 02:55 PM
The city said they would take care of the grass, lets hope they had a chance. CFles you are playing this event now?

Mar 30 2006, 03:08 PM
Through the effort of Mr. Rick Bannister from FlyNHighDiscGolf.com we have a small group of local sorority girls that are going to caddie. It will be on a first come first serve basis, $15 per round with tips accepted, so be there early to secure a caddie...

The TD staff will not be handing this, all the money will go directly to the caddies.

Mar 30 2006, 03:09 PM
Titledisc will close sometime EARLY tonight so get your entries in asap. We will be taking entries the day of the event as well through 9:00, but get there early and help out the TD crew if you are going to register the day of.

If Susan is nice she will also take registrations at Friday doubles, but you better bring exact change :)

suemac
Mar 30 2006, 03:24 PM
Yes, for those who will be out Friday afternoon, I'll be taking registration.

Help us, help you, and sign up Friday if you can at Pecan Park when paying for doubles and such.

Please do try to have correct change or even better, write a check.

I had to go back and reread that. I thought you had typed in Lips accepted

$15 per round is a little high. Are you sure it is not $15 per day?

Mar 30 2006, 04:09 PM
Have you ever known any "cheap" greek gals?

It goes against everything they aspire to be. :D

Mar 30 2006, 04:12 PM
Yes its expensive, but there will only be 10-14 of them, so I am sure someone will take them up on having a caddie... We shall see...

jeterdawg
Mar 30 2006, 04:12 PM
Just out of curiosity, does a round only mean a round of disc golf? I could see where $15 could be a bargain...

;)

Otherwise for $15 a round they should include a 12-pack or so.

Mar 30 2006, 04:14 PM
PS Gimp, did you get my email? JT said you needed those maps and that we were possibly shifting around some of the holes so as not to play through the mud...

I think that it's part of the course! Plus since there hasn't been much rain, they shouldn't be any worse than before...but whatever you decide is cool.

****, that's a $10 per round jump from what it used to be. Good thing I'm building myself a new cart for this weekend.

Mar 30 2006, 05:25 PM
Maybe we can talk them down to $10 - It will prob. be worth it. Are you sure it was only $5 a round a few years ago???

Yes thank you for sending the maps!

Hello, hello to any Austinites heading down tommorrow. Wanted to caravan, drive, or split a hotel room. Any takers? Call my house, 512-443-7942. I think Kansas is leaving tommorow for sure, but if anyone else wants this weekend to cost a little less, let's get it together.

I know that the muddy holes can be a pain, but what is the Pioneer park without slop??? If you are lookinf for a discussion, my preference would be to play it as it lies. However, if you need baskets, Tyler can round up enough for you.

I think it was $10 (maybe $15) a day a few years ago, but it's been a while since I've been out there. I've got to work this weekend, so I'll miss it again this year.

Mar 30 2006, 07:03 PM
Wow two people say play the slop... Interesting as I have had many MANY complaints about it over the years which is why I am thinking of changing those holes around a bit. The only thing it would "mess up" imo is hole 14 which would be split. I kind of like that hole in the AM divisions. 12, 15 and 16 would be gone along with 14. Anyone else want to weigh in fast before I decide? I need to call Jeremy to line up the Tyler baskets that were offered for this project (thanks Mr. Powers for offering as well).
12 is the island hole and 15 is the hole that shoots down the hill into the trees and 16 is the hole that shoots back up the hill.

Does anyone know how deep the much is this year????

Bring in a bunch of hay to create a walk path and area around the basket. If you park it cool! If you don't, you get muddy feet.

BUt if you still want to change them up, I'ld be willing to offer some design suggestions Friday after 5pm.

I would bet the caddies are not going to be too cool with the idea of messing up their shoes either.

While I'm on the subject. I remember the greek caddies costing $20 a day (which included the tip). Not many came back Sunday, cause they all ruinened their shoes Saturday.

Mar 31 2006, 11:39 AM
Was actually $20 (tip not included) for the weekend. Gotta love the wayback machine :)

Mar 31 2006, 11:43 AM
Not many caddies going to be there so if you want one find Rick Bannister EARLY... BTW THANKS Rick!

No idea on tourney records since all that was lost when apo dropped the tourney...

Thanks for the offer on helping with design, but I wont even have left Houston by 5:00 today :( That is why Susan is running doubles. She will be looking for a qualified volunteer to mark the tee boxes.

The hole changes include the total elimination of 12 and 15 the splitting of 14 and a hole playing to 16s baskets :)

Would anyone be willing to mark Pioneer Saturday morning that has a clue about tee box placement?

Mar 31 2006, 11:43 AM
Gimp, I got in touch with George Avery, he will be bringing the stuff up for me. I'll see about making it out there Sunday to help, doubt it, but we'll see.

Mar 31 2006, 11:44 AM

Yes, flags are in my car, and I'm headed that way within the hour.

As for a little mud, come on now, who's got virginal cleats anyway? You got to pick up a little mud to take back home anyway. :D

jakewalsdorf
Mar 31 2006, 11:55 AM
So are you going to change the hole layout? was a little unclear.

Gimp - if you simply need boxes flagged, I'll do Pioneer this evening. Don't think I'm playing dubs, and Sonny Boy wanted to walk through Pioneer as he has not played the course yet.

I'm leaving work now. :DReach me in route at 409/771-3212

Mar 31 2006, 12:05 PM
Come on now Fuzzy how many times do I have to tell you I don't have room for them in the truck lmao :o

I will be screwed if he does not have em to me by 7:30 or so Sat. morning.

Course changes on Pioneer after 11 you will not play 12 but move to 13

Hole 14 will become two holes

Hole 15 will not be played

there will be a new tee to hole 16

"old" hole one will come back near new hole one :D

Yes, Tyler is bringing the two needed baskets - THANKS!

Mar 31 2006, 12:15 PM
Well, it's the only option. If he cant get there by 7:30 sat but can get them to you today then I am sure you can find one of the 130+ people that are there to put them in there vehicle til morning...lol

Nice try at trying to get me up there though ;)

New Discraft EPS Surge to the person who guesses closest to the total attendance without going over - one guess per person and you have to have your guess in by Friday night at midnight. Yes you have to play the event to be eligible for this contest :D

"Big Money Doubles
Friday afternoon doubles will be offered starting at approximately 4:00 PM. $15 per person ($30 per team) for AM divisions (Advanced, Intermediate and Recreational Men and Women). $20 per person ($40 per team) for Pro divisions (Open only). 1/3rd of the field will cash, and you will collect payout on Saturday."

Susan will not be taking doubles entries until around 4:00 so leave her alone to practice before then :D

-11 Joe Torres
-7 J.D. Ramirez
-7 Vinnie Miller

-4 Jay Reading

-2 Dagon Owen

Those were the only scores I heard, there very well could be others scattered in between those.

149 total - There were some errors in pool assignment reporting. I'm sorry for the mistakes... The courses listed above are correct and there will be added time for everyone who has bad information to make it to the correct course in the morning. The 8:30 start time will likely be 9:00 after everyone gets to the right course.

I think 1st prize in INT needs to be a PDGA membership :DThat dude beat me in INT at GCCS Finale like 3 years ago by like 5 strokes to take first. Maybe you could hold the PDGA membership fee out of his acepot :D:D

I know the PDGA has flattened payout etc but can Gimp please post how these payouts are done. Where was the $250 added put? 1st place Open seems very low for the amount of entry and the number of players.

Last week in Ingleside there were 12 Pro's paying $40 and 1st place was $350, 2nd $220. This had the same added $250 as a B-tier.

Not trying to start anything but I am sure I am not the only one asking the question. It is also good feedback for the new PDGA payout schedules?

Go get em Joe Torres :D

Relax there Gimp. As I said I was simply interested and was not the only one.

I have played 2 Pecan Park Opens and loved it there, and have won my fair share of money and skins.

Thanks for the stats. That is great because you can give the numbers, unlike some others that want to hide them. Good job.

By the way that tournament in Ingleside had nothing to do with me, I was simply a player, so bite me. :D

As I said I was to be there but my LAF commitments got in the way this time. Have fun.

Chris

GOOD TIMES!
Had a great time....thanks to momma Norma! She is awesome.
Thanks Rob for running the skins...you did good boy!
I hope the T.D. staff is not playing the upcoming N.T.
I want to thank Jerry Power.....That feller was having a good time.
And if you guys need some help....don't be shy ASK FOR IT.
Texas's N.T. better run smother than NACH did.
Scott you took on some tuff questions and you handle yourself very well. John thanks for your drive to make something happen in Texas. Now lets do it right!

He did fail to mention that the team that got 3 skins had a combined age of over 90. (Thanks Vinnie for the carry)

You guys be kind...Gimp had 3 of his regular v-teers back out at the last minute at an event that far exceeded expected turnout.

I am being kind...this guys worked hard with what they had!
I know what it is to be a T.D.,and I am the first to tell someone don't come here complaining unless you have a solution.

Apr 03 2006, 12:48 PM
I wasn't talking about anyone in particular not being kind. I just know how sometimes these threads can take a terrible turn and I feel guilty as one of the v-teers that backed out on him :(

Thanks Rob for running the skins...you did good boy!

Yes, way to go on running the skins well Rob this part of the event went MUCH smoother than last year. Can someone please list what teams took the skins holes. Rob? Vinnie?

I hope the T.D. staff is not playing the upcoming N.T. Texas's N.T. better run smother than NACH did.

There will be PLENTY of non-playing staff at the National Tour, which has absolutely nothing to do with the Lone-Star series except that the added payout from LSS will be paid at States. The National Tour will have tons of added cash and will far exceed NT standards. There will also be one of the best players packs I have seen. Im not sure what the parking lot chat circles will find to complain about this time.

By the way, feel FREE to ASK a head of time or at the event if you want to know about added cash etc. Last year we added $150 and it was all in the skins. We had a nice pro field so I though it would be nice to bump that up over $250 and make it a b-tier. Nowhere was it advertised that this event would exceed B-tier standards on the Pro side. Im still not sure how $291 added to pro including the skins, plus shirts for the pros who sign up early is something to complain about.

There were more mistakes made at this event and bad luck scenarios than any other event I have run. I believe starting at Pioneer because of the recent rule change on the pavilions by the city (you could never reserve them before, they were first come first serve) was a set back. I was also very disappointed in myself for not getting the written OBs on the map correctly and for some misinformation on the starting courses for Sunday morning. One change for sure next year will be longer lunch breaks. The scores can not get into the system any faster than I can get them in there and I absolutely HATE that people had to wait to get their hole assignments longer than advertised.

John thanks for your drive to make something happen in Texas. Now lets do it right!

Honestly, Vinnie, we are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Even with the mistakes, I think this was a fun, well run event. If I had not been playing (I do scorekeeping for those that do not know), NOTHING would have run any differently. There is no more time between rounds if you play or not play, and it was not like I was sitting around relaxing during lunch lmao. A HUGE pick your plastic payout in AM, a large chunk of change in pro, a significant raffle and a skins match ran very smoothly after the 4th round. The courses were mowed and we were not forced to tromp through the mud on the lower Pioneer holes (thanks again for the baskets Tyler boys!), maps were in hand for everyone to find their way. We had great weather and a hospitable police force lmao

All the LSS sponsorship money and raffle money goes directly back to the players. Look above to see the retail cost of the merchandise given away. The only events where there is advertised added pro cash that Team Disaster runs are Pecan Park (taken over when it was dropped by APO) and States where a large crew of volunteers gives their heart and soul EVERY year to make a great event happen with everything going back to the players.

(This part is NOT directed directly at Vinnie)

I just dont get where people get lost on how Team Disaster events are run. Most of the players have played a Team Disaster event or two over the years. Things do not change from event to event. Some things get added here and there as we grown. It was unfortunate that most of our other volunteers could not make this one, but all you can do is do the best you can do. For the bumper chat circles, here is some food for thought

- If you dont like the way these events are run, and you are not the type to want to help, shop around and find some events you do like and patronize those. Anonymously #$*&$! in the parking lot will not change the way TDs run their events.

- If you are the type to want to volunteer to make events stronger, volunteer to help do a significant task at the event, volunteer to raise money for whatever division you would like to have added cash or prizes added to (I will honor your request to put it where you want it), or even start and run your own event. It can be very rewarding running your own event when things go well.

- Sack up and ask what is going on. Do it before the event for any little thing, ask DURING the event for MAJOR things, send an email to me after the event (uncdrummer@hotmail.com) volunteering to help, offering suggestions etc. Call me if you dont know how to type (832) 279-8084. In all honesty getting the second hand information through others is very hurtful and cowardly.

I hope most people had a great time at the event. I apologize for the mistakes I made, trust me it was NOT fun being the TD this time

I hope the T.D. staff is not playing the upcoming N.T.

Texas's N.T. better run smother than NACH did.
Scott you took on some tuff questions and you handle yourself very well. John thanks for your drive to make something happen in Texas. Now lets do it right!

NICE Jake - You were such a joy to deal with this weekend - a real pleasure taking your complaints. Your hint that I was not interested in hearing you cry should have been when I walked off, but no you had to complain more before the next round. Thanks buddy...

You were the 2nd card off the course partially because we spread people around to keep things moving. I suppose slower divisions should be not allowed to play. Or maybe I should have made your division full of cards of five, we would still be playing

Here is a little food for thought for you since you decided to pile on - try playing yourself off the bob card if you want to have leader card treatment

No need for me to pile on Gimp, appears to be more players then me who want to say something.

A joy to work with A? Next time I will not ask how I can help laying out extra holes for you before the event.

My complaint seemed to be a simple request but you used that simple request as a source to vent. But as I thought about it more I still didn't understand why you would take the last card of 3 ADVANCE masters players and place their card behind the 4 player rec. women card. Did you think they would hold up players behind them. 3 players? LOL

But I get it now. Beware Players. The order of which you bring your card in is how the cards will be let out; so don't dilly dog around handing that card in.

I'm posting this situation because in all the years I've played masters, I've never heard nor experienced being disconnected from your divisional group for the sake of flow. Well, Mr.TD, I'm here to tell you, go back to UNC and study Hydraulics. Cause that #$*&$! couldn't flow down hill.

The placement of cards seems to be something that challenges Gimp at many events. I've been in your shoes too many times Jake, so I feel your pain.

However, I do think that overall, things went well. Just think, it could have been much, much worse. Didn't we all leave at a reasonable hour?

And more and more I've come to realize we've got some "cronic complainers" in our ranks who are just not happy unless they are stirring the pot.

As for the NT, we've got TONS of extra volunteers lined up to make it one of this year's best events! So, don't use PPO as an excuse to hide behind for not supporting the NT. (apples and oranges) Just come see, I don't think anyone will be disappointed in how this event will be conducted.

Gimp, just for the record, the first time I read the payout I was wondering why they seemed so low. I though maybe there was a mistake too.

But then I guess that is what is going to happen with low entry fees.

You know I really wanted to be there this weekend, but on a good note, I caught the biggest bass I have ever caught. I caught 4 bass to be exact. I learned how to fish with plastic worms this weekend. Even my son Dallas caught 2 bass, both were 16". then to top it off, Sunday we played Athens and Crawford (well the holes we could find at Crawford)

I have a suggestion for the skins match. How about rotating who tees off first. For example, let the pros tee off on hole 1 and then let the ams and Jerry tee off on hole 2, and then flip-flop back and forth. What this will do is to eliminate the inequity of having the pro hit a three footer to push, while the pro that would have hit the two footer doesn't have to finish, and can then tee off the next hole.

Just a suggestion. I am one whiny spectator. ;)

Tee assignments changed EVERY round because of players dropping and not letting me know. There was no reason to have an empty hole when we had 149 players on two courses. Team D events have always spread divisional fields all the way back to the very beginning (30+ sanctioned events I believe). I do the best I can to spread it so we dont have backups or leave at an unreasonable time. I believe ALL eight assigned courses flowed and finished within a reasonable time. No matter HOW you slice the field, someone is going to have to play behind the slower divisions.

I did not vent on you the first couple of times you talked to me right after the round. Yes, I did indeed vent when you came up to me to complain AGAIN right before two mins of the next round. I thought it was more important to get the round going than to take more time to rearrange the holes because of a player who wanted a more favorable hole assignment from a low card. The sheets had literally just printed within the past few mins. Im sorry that it was your card this time.

BTW I did thank you for your help in the players meeting and it was greatly appreciated. I also apologized after the fact to you and I thought the issue was dead Try showing some class next time by not piling on and venting YOUR frustrations for not living up to your own playing expectations. Are you saying the Rec ladies should not have played or they can play just as long as it does not get in your cards way during a competitive round? They obviously did not play too slow because your card finished very fast. I cant create another player to make your card a foursome either. Should have I made the leader card a three and made the bob card a four?

BTW you know good and well that I can not recreate hole assignments for all the rounds as they change every time.

Some complaints are legit and I apologize things did NOT go perfectly.

Gimp, just for the record, the first time I read the payout I was wondering why they seemed so low. I though maybe there was a mistake too.

I paid deeper in this event because of the new PDGA guidelines. I am not and likely never will play pro, but I personally think we are paying too many places now. I recommend that Pros write the PDGA if they do not like the new deeper flatter payouts. In Pro 100% of entry fees minus the B-tier $3 and the LSS series $3 +the added cash was the payout.

I never get to watch the skins because I am busy making the tournament happen, but the point of the format which is a little odd and very unique in my opinion is to add pressure. The AM teeing off against three pros for instance and making the amazing shot. It all just depends on how you look at it. I would love to hear other thoughts on the format because we can certainly change it.

Vinnie - I do have a valid issue and I tried to fix it or at least understand it Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon. And was hammered by the TD, labeled a whinner, and generally insulted.

This is not the place? (Well dealing with the TD face to face was not either)

I'm just wondering why a group would be disconnected from their division.

If this is common practice throughout the PDGA community of TD's then let's see it and I will be able to move on and this thread can be graced with the props it deserves.

Istart:
1. The courses looked great.
2. The weather was great.
3. The people that attend this event are great.
4. The town is a great place to host a 2 day tournament

Plenty others, my head is still foggy from the issue I'm whinning about and the lame attemp of explaining I got.

I think the Skins format, the way it is, is the most exciting. If it wasnt for that format I may not have gotten to see the 60+yr. old skins winner bang the putt for like 4 skins when he played with Olse in the GCCS Finale. Also we wouldn't have gotten to see Keith bang the miracle shot that won him a Jim the skins. I wasn't at PPO last year but I believe the most talked about thing was Robbie out blasting the pros on the Final hole by a 100+ feet.

The format is a keeper in my opinion.

Apr 03 2006, 02:56 PM
What do you not understand about my explanation? There is no way I would have hammered you online if you had not piled on online. And lets be fair here Jake I was VERY nice and gave some VERY real hints that I did not think your complaint was legit when you complained before anyone else was off the course after round three. When you put your foot in your mouth AGAIN before round 4 right before two mins just to I guess make yourself feel better and go off on a TD running a 149 person division, yes I called you on it because it was BS. Nothing could change when we are calling two mins.

There was an empty hole and I filled it for flow purposes with the division where the most players were crammed in the least amount of holes.

Now back to MY question Jake. Rec ladies are fine as long as they are not in front of you right. So if you were on the leader card and the bottom rec ladies card was in front of you, you would have no problem with that right? I still believe this is about JAKE and not about hole assignments

Players watch out for this MEAN TD who will go off on you at the event LMAO

This issue is not about rec. women playing the sport. This issue IS about NOT following a known and practiced layout of card sequencing(sp). Your trying to mask my issue by playing the women card. As far as who plays behind them in the layout seqence(sp); that statement tells me right there of the problem. You don't know!!!

When have you ever heard me complain about anything or be MEAN??? As my friends who know me can contest, I'm a mellow guy who has love for everyone. Why I'm so #$*&$!? I brought the issue up Sunday morning and voiced my dismay cause I thought it was an oversite. Who would disconnect divisions like that? I figured you would fix it by the afternoon round. Wrong I was. See, I go to these $300 mini vacations to see family, friends and to compete with the competion of my division. When the card I'm on gets pulled from the rest of the com (18 players) card seqence (sp) I was simply playing (in view) with only 2 others.

I can understand if people don't show, and holes have to be filled.

I can understand when odd numbers of players in a division cause cards with players in different divisions.

But what I don't understand is pulling the last card of a division out of sequecial (sp) layout and putting them on hole 15 not hole 5 where they should have been because they handed thier card in late Saturday. Or better yet, because of flow. I guess I don't understand your reasoning.

Scott, you are right about most of your remembrances of the skins at the finals last year. It was a 60+ year old man (now 62) that was playing with poor Mike Olse. The only difference was,it was Mike's drive and my upshot for Mike to putt it in for the four skins that day. You were also right about this old man never forgetting the experience and how he got in that situation. He will also never forget the positive attitude of Mike and his classiness and especially his amazement when he found out he was paired with 61 year old recreational player. It was great. I find it amazing someone would even still remember this moment except for me.

I don't know what the hand a card in late comment is about. No cards were turned in late during the entire tournament. I dont believe the PDGA mandates where cards play on the course. If they do that is a rule that I have missed and I need to change the way I do things. When the course is full you are not always going to be behind a fast card. These rounds finished up very fast with only one minor backup at hole 3 on Pioneer which is unavoidable.

I am sorry that I changed your hole Jake and that you had such a bad time. If I had it to do over again I would still plug a card in on an empty hole since I had extra time Saturday night. There was no time to change it around between rounds even if I wanted to, and your complaints right before the two min. warning are not justifiable no matter how you spin it. I apologized to you the day it happened that I got irritated at you about the last complaint. I had taken your complaint while collecting the cards and made the decision not to slow the tournament down to change it around.

Every decision at a tournament is made with the INTENTION to keep competition fair and all the players happy. Most of these decisions will make at least one person mad. The decision to move the last mm1 card made you mad, but I am sure the REST of that pool was pleased at finishing a little bit early.

I sure wish I was getting railed for one of the things I feel I actually messed up instead of an issue like this

Disc golf is supposed to be fun and many times people take it WAY to seriously. This issue should NOT have affected you as much as it did. Once again, please accept my apologies.

Gimp, thanks to you and your helpers who run these tournaments. Jarred and I always have a blast. Jarred put up some great rounds there, didn't he! :DVery proud of him! I think there was some confusion on Jarred's card that last round but I think they got it worked out. I just go to whatever hole I'm assigned and play golf. I could care less about anything else! Well, except for my cruddy putting!

That was really, for real, my last Intermediate tournament. So you baggers with higher rated rounds than 906, MOVE UP!!!

i agree with Jerry. Gimp works hard to put on good tourneys and does his best to take care of all the players. I have played on a card with him before behind some slow players. It didn't bother me this much. I don't see how it could bother you this much if you were on the DFL card anyway. Come to think of it I don't remember playing any PDGA tourneys without having to wait on the card in front of me.
