This guy looks like a bagger: Ross Porter Playin MA 2 Nice.
Current rating 906. Played well at his last tournament but hard to say how well without throwing the scores into the ratings template. He lost to MTL by 11 throws over four rounds on courses where par 3 was good amateur golf. Those might be averaging out to 920 rounds. If those rounds were in the database he might be 915. Hard to say.

what? fridays skins?
Here are my predictions for the top.
1. Sean Gough. You can expect at least two very solid (970-1000) rounds, and the other two will probably be under par as well. Sean has the finesse and patience that is needed to tackle a beast like Richmond Hill.
2. Tom Holbrook. This is my Dark Horse, and he is not playing ADV, he's playing ADV Masters. If you want to beat Tommy, you had better shoot on average 2.25 down per round, if not, you'll find out why they call them masters. Experience and course management is key and a little local knowledge goes a long way.
3. Brad Smith. Brad would have ranked higher, but sources have it that Nathan Kellar is holding Brad's favorite man thong hostage until after the tournament.
4. Ryan Pickens. Pickens is a wildcard. He likes to lay low and end up on the lead card in the last round. If he is on the lead scorecard in the last round, his psychological warfare will reek havoc on the tired and weary.
5. Donnie Murphy . Donnie is as smooth as silk, and four rounds is just enough to pull him to the top of the field. Solid driving is key for Donnie to be top four.
6. Ross Habif. Putting and up shots are essential elements at Richmond Hill , and Ross has the experience and the consistency to keep him well within striking distance. If Ross kicks his mini and throws his hat less than five times, he'll be playing skins downtown.
7. Josh Jolley. Josh cans more 30 plus footers than most I've seen. If Jolley gets into his zone, watch out!
8. Chad Kawaminami. AKA Obe One Kenobi brings a 10-Time KC Aviar that has rattled the chains from places that would make your grandma cream in her knickers. With his deadly accurate putt and buddha like mentality, the dark side doesn't have a chance.
9-15. Out-of-Towners. Maybe I give Richmond Hill more credit than I should, but I seen "power players" (example: Cam Todd) have really tough rounds. Long narrow fairways, sloping greens, and an abundance of elevation changes combined to make double and even triple bogeys a common occurence. Bryant, Umbarger, Blackwell, and Yahn should finish well.
Intermediate Division
1. Kevin Vinez. If anybody has local knowledge, its "All day" Vinez. A deadly putter and a huge arm makes Vinez a tough mountain to climb.
2. Zack Gates. Zack has been coming on strong with several sub-par rounds. Mentally and physically he has what it takes to get through four rounds at Richmond. Course management is key.
3. Nathan Kellar. Nathan will probably be wearing Brad Smith's man thong. If he uses plently of Gold Bond Powder, chafing should not be a factor. His drives will intimidate his competitors, forcing them to over throw.
4. Kirk "Dirdy" Neilson. The XD Putter can be scorching hot in the hands of Dirdy. Huge drives. If they stay in the fairway, he'll pose a probelm for all in his division.
5. John Thelen. The side-arm is key. John is another local who is no stranger to sub-par rounds.
Advanced Masters
Tom Holbrook will walk away with this division. Second is a toss-up. Don Wallace and Robbie Dunn will have their hands full with Ghosthorse.
Womens Division
Janet Kawaminami brings Tai-Ching into her form, giving her the consistency that will land her at the top of her division. Libby Gillette also has a flawless form that will keep Janet on her toes.
Skins
9 skins. Ryan Pickens
3 skins. Tom Holbrook
2 skins. Sean Gough
1 skin. Janet Kawaminami
1 skin. Kevin Vinez
1 skin. Brad Smith
1 skin. Donnie Murphy

this has become the ultimate bagging tournament... and still, I don't make the list....
I placed 9th last year and a little worse the year before, and the only hole that caused me trouble was 8. I think I was like 5, 6, 4, 5 in 2003.
It woon't bother me this year, and my course management on the long holes will prevail.

I count 3 folks that accepted cash at a PDGA event that are taking atvantage of the float rule this weekend. Mooky, Super Dave and Matt Peckham. I would like to ask them a few friendly questions. I've been fortunate enough to have played in a group with them in the past and I think that they are really good guys.
Do you think that the Urban Skins and MDGE are completely separate events (as the PDGA competition director Chapman alluded to)?
This is a PDGA Amateur event. Do you feel that amateurs should be playing for cash skins a PDGA tournament?
How accurate and up-to-date do you feel the PDGA Players Rating system is?
Since Cash Skins is the reward of this tournament, do you feel that it is fair that some pros are let in to the to MDGE and some pros are kept out?

Thanks!
Do you think that the Urban Skins and MDGE are completely separate events (as the PDGA competition director Chapman alluded to)?
I think they are separate events. Marshall Street uses the highest player ratings to choose their ace skins players. Their Birdie skins players are based on a round played before to calculate the top players. I think that is how they do it. So their Ace skins contestants are chosen simply on past performance at PDGA tournaments. Scores are really what counts though, and those who shoot low scores on the course on Saturday (by division, right) get a chance to play in skins. Since the tourney should fill, this doesn't allow any non players a chance to qualify for the skins since there will be nowhere for them to play on the course, and it would unfair to paying players to have casuals on their cards...
This is a PDGA Amateur event. Do you feel that amateurs should be playing for cash skins a PDGA tournament?
They are playing to promote the sport after the event. I feel each should be paid something for their participation in Skins, it's good for the sport, and James has done a phenomenal job building the sport up to the point that the town will allow such a cool event to happen in downtown Asheville. I hope nobody walks away skinless.
How accurate and up-to-date do you feel the PDGA Players Rating system is?
It's kinda up to date, I think this is the first rating update that has had a major problem. There are players who probably would be out of Int, and even some that may be out of adv if the Feb update held. What can you do?
Since Cash Skins is the reward of this tournament, do you feel that it is fair that some pros are let in to the to MDGE and some pros are kept out?
I think that the term pro and am here is cloudy. I think the PDGA has made player ratings the focal point of divisional play. so it's now sub 955, sub 915, etc. whether people took cash or not, they are still competing with players within their player rating, and this allows a lot of players who can't compete in the pro division and quit to better reintegrate into playing tournaments. It's all good. I've made a wopping $42 in Pro winnings, oops, I forgot the $135 in Pro2 I won last year.... I'm in that range where I choose to play based on my desire, my bank account, and my schedule. I was going to play the HOF Classic this weekend, but my pusfinger has sidelined me this week. I had already sent my money in for Asheville, or I might have played The Crosstown instead. But I enjoy the Asheville tournament every year, and feel I am just starting to learn about the town. I can't skip a year if I have the chance to play, especially if it's the last year for Richmond Hills.

Whorley has become a real popular guy. Then again he won't let the issue die.
Now to other issues. I don't remember Richmond Hills real well, but I think shot selection was key. Is a 250'-300' straight putter shot(rhyno) going to be handy? And how about a powerful thumber? Or an accurate thumber. I gots both. What kinda baskets do they have? I hear the Poison Ivy is real bad, any suggestions. And discnapper (http://hometown.aol.com/msf0526/img_0215.jpg) struck again. I'm not one of the three you mention, but have played with or know all three and they're definitely "good guys"..... but I'll respond to your questions anyway.
Do you think that the Urban Skins and MDGE are completely separate events (as the PDGA competition director Chapman alluded to)?
I feel they are separate events, although they are definitely linked to each other. IMO, It's a great example of working the current system.
This is a PDGA Amateur event. Do you feel that amateurs should be playing for cash skins a PDGA tournament?
I think it's a great way to create excitement for the AMs and fill up a tournament that might not otherwise fill up. Even though only 4-8 people will actually get a shot at the skins, it's the possibility that makes it fun.
How accurate and up-to-date do you feel the PDGA Players Rating system is?
It's not 100% accurate as it's hard to keep up with newer players whose skill levels advance quickly (their ratings may be lower than they should be). Plus new players who only play tournaments on their "home" courses may be rated higher than their skill levels actually are. But I can't think of anything that could be done to improve the system, with the exception of more frequent updates.
Since Cash Skins is the reward of this tournament, do you feel that it is fair that some pros are let in to the to MDGE and some pros are kept out?
Fair or not, it's the rule that exists.... and one that allows this to be played as a sanctioned tournament. We all agree that it would be best if there were no conflicts and these tournaments were on different weekends. BUT it's not fair to the AM's in NC to not be able to have a tournament because of an NT event 250 miles away.... particularly one that most people playing the MDGE wouldn't play in either way.
My hats off to everyone involved in putting on what looks to be a great tournament. Whether or not I get the opportunity to play for any skins, I still expect to have a fun weekend of disc golf in the mountains of NC. I look forward to getting together with a lot of old friends...... and meeting some new ones.
RD
Poison Ivy! It is very young and very potent at the moment at Richmond Hill Disc Golf Course. Be carfeful where you put your bag, especially your strap or Quads. Large vines with lots of smaller, hairy looking vines is poison and is currently full of pollen. So don't touch trees unless you look first. DO NOT WEAR SHORTS! If you are allergic, a bottle of Tech-Nu ($6.95)will come in very handy. Wash any exposed skin after each round with Tech-Nu and you will be fine. You can get Tech-Nu at any drug store. Ivey Block (4.95) is a preventative lotion., and Ivey Stat (24.95) is the absolute bomb! It will remove poison ivey within two days. Even though it cost $25.00, it is worth every penny.
there are going to be 2 more dropping the crosstown to play in this.
Who would that be?
Does anyone else find it rediculous and ironic that pros are leaving one the largest purses in the sport to play an am event to make more money???
For most people rated less than 955, the chance at winning much (if any) money at the Crosstown is quite slim...... BUT the chance of getting in the skins is slim too. Only the leader in each division gets in on Saturday's skins (which means only one person in that large & strong advanced field gets the opportunity to play for the skins on the first day).... and then the top 4 overall get in on Sunday (which most likely will be the top 4 in advanced.... though somebody in another division could sneak in and take one of the spots).
The chance of playing in the skins has definitely generated a lot of buzz about this tournament, but the reality is that only a few people will get a chance at them. Regardless, it should make for some exciting disc golf that weekend.

Whorley: "Completely separate" is not the rule. The rule is "ancillary." An ace pool is not completely seperate nor is a cash CTP. Check it out: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=ancillary.
Not rated
Not for points
Not counted towards place of finish
Not funded by tournament entry fees
Not counted as part of the event value
Not reported in any way on the TD report
More ancillary than an ace pool given that an ace counts toward your score, place of finish, rating and points.

is sanctioning really pertinent as to whether evan rides shotgun?
So if I want to run an am only tournament, and I tell the PDGA that I'm giving away $$ to the top three players, if they can birdy a 200' hole after the tournament, there should be no problems with sanctioning it. Part of me thinks this tournament stayed sanctioned only to prevent really shafting the crosstown.

make sure your a certified offical that knows how to interpret all the rules disc golf. As we have seen with the skins and prize money for ams, finding scape goats and ways around things to make them work for you is very important
tbender
Apr 20 2005, 04:36 PM
You mean loopholes.
Scapegoats are people like your doubles partner who missed the 50' schule putt you left him with in alternate shot. (You in general, not MTL :))
the "I" was hypothetical. As I undertsand it though these are the conditions:
attach cash purses to the end of am tournaments. take the top three players and let them play sudden death for the money, or a host of other scenarios. The only stipulation seems to be that the money comes from a private source (i.e. not reported to the PDGA) and that you play at least one extra hole.
so its plausible that two players going in to the last hole are tied for third, or whatever the cut off, one misses a putt the other doesn't. That missed putt represents an "opportunity cost", thanks econ 101, of however much money was available in the "post tourney" $$.

No, turned pro when there was no turning back. Figured I could play Pro2 as that was doing pretty well at the medium to large tournaments, but come 2005 they've changed the rules on us. Now, those of us that jumped thinking that Pro2 might exist, giving yet another tier that pros AND ams could play in, were snubbed and offered play pro or am under 955 ratings. OK, if that's what the PDGA wants to do, so be it. I'm sure that things will change next year, and pros will be able to play as ams only if they are wearing green socks, and address all TRUE ams as "your mediocreness". Or something like that....
All the ******** about people playing up or down should just be squashed. The PDGA made the rules, we are following the rules, and while we opted to step up to pro for life last year, the rules have changed, and with those changes, we have choices. I am happy with the new options, even though I thought Pro2 wasn't given a fair shake. I'm able to play all sorts of tourneys, and it's saving me money, so I don't get frustrated when my rating flattens and the cash dries up. I'll be having fun next weekend, gimp finger and all.

that's true, and BS mentioned the same thing. but theoretically, if AMs were only playing for medals or trophies, the entry fees would be significantly less. players could enter a tourney for $15 instead of $45 and use that extra $30 to buy plastic. theoretically.
don't some tournies offer a "Trophy Only" option so people can pay a smaller entry fee and only get a trophy if they win? i thought that was a good idea.

---------------------------------------
WE ALL ARE, UNLESS PROVOKED. :D
---------------------------------------
Do you think that the Urban Skins and MDGE are completely separate events (as the PDGA competition director Chapman alluded to)?
---------------------------------------
THEY ARE SEPARATE EVENTS, IMO. THE SPONSOR AND JAMES ARE THE ONES TO DECIDE HOW THE SKINS FIELD WILL BE CHOSEN. WE MAY NOT AGREE WITH HOW THEY CHOOSE, BUT IT IS THEIR MONEY. IF I WERE A SPONSOR, I WOULD WANT TO HAVE THE BEST GOLFERS AVAILABLE FOR THE SKINS. HOW ELSE DO YOU CHOOSE IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS WHEN ALL YOU HAVE ARE AMS AVAILABLE?
---------------------------------------
This is a PDGA Amateur event. Do you feel that amateurs should be playing for cash skins a PDGA tournament?
---------------------------------------
THE SKINS ARE AFTER THE EVENT AND SEPARATE, SO IT IS NON-PDGA AND DOES NOT HAVE TO ABIDE BY THE PDGA AM/ CASH RULE.
---------------------------------------
How accurate and up-to-date do you feel the PDGA Players Rating system is?
---------------------------------------
MY PLAYER RATING IS ACCURATE. LOOK AT MY THREE YEARS PLAYING PRO. NOW, FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT PLAYED MANY EVENTS, IT MAY NOT BE THAT ACCURATE. I'M SURE YOU COULD MANIPULATE YOUR OWN RATING IF YOU WERE A LOW DOWN DIRTY ENTITY WITHOUT ANY MORALS.
--------------------------------------
Since Cash Skins is the reward of this tournament, do you feel that it is fair that some pros are let in to the to MDGE and some pros are kept out?
-------------------------------------
FAIR REALLY DOES NOT MATTER. THE PDGA SET THE FLOAT RULE. UNLESS I AM ELECTED LEADER AND DICTATOR OF ALL DISC GOLF, WE'LL HAVE TO PLAY BY THE RULES AND DECISIONS SET BY THE PDGA, EVEN IF WE DON'T LIKE THEM.
---------------------------------------
IMO, THE PROS PLAYING IN ASHEVILLE ARE NOT BAGGERS. DO YOU REALLY THINK WE SPENT THE LAST YEAR(S) PLAYING LIKE CRAP SO WE COULD BAG SOME SKINS NEXT WEEKEND? GET REAL.

Baggers or no baggers they go by the ratings. My rating is only 931 so I guess I have no chance against such a great golfer as you. I personally think the float rule is chit. Just because there is a bigger tourney going on the "in betweeners" will be coming to Asheville. The people that have already turned pro should consider it a challenge to take on the big dogs, especially if they play those courses regularly. Didn't you decide to donate when you moved up? Change your mind for filthy lucres sake..pimped out for a few dollars, how sad. Myself, I have 4 kids and don't think I'll ever have the time it takes to practice to go Open. I've won my last 2 Adv tournies should I move up? Not hardly. this is all in good fun anyways. I don't care who shows up, it won't change the way I throw nor you most likey. But, I do hope I beat the ones who are taking advantage of the float rule, just cuz I'm a competitive person, and they are "better" golfers according to the PDGA. I hope I've provoked you to shoot better if anything.

ok, Cam, your last tournament you tied first in Pro. I've never done that. I've won 1 advanced tournament. I have 2 kids, 6 dogs and little time for disc golf. I get to about a tournament every 2 months. You'll probably beat me. Your player rating looks to be equal to mine, in fact, last year it was a point off of my current rating... 947.
You could have won your last tournament. Playing pro. Were you lucky, or does your name fit? :p

The tourney that I tied Pro was on my home course. I played another one after that (the JDGF series) tourney in Duncan, OK and won it by 2 strokes. I don't think that one is listed yet. I started out playing alot, then kids came, plus I started a business so I've slowed down quite a bit. I think what made me better was the quality of golfers I've played with, Mccoy, Coda and such. When I golfed casually, I usually golfed with people better then or equal to me. Plus I'm just a very competitive person to begin with, I hate to lose to my wife in Yahtzee or my kids in Go Fish. Oklahoma has (in my opinion) the best group of AM golfers in the country. I said "group" because I know there are better golfers out there individually.
My rating went down from that 947 cause I shanked at a few tournies. (that's why I don't smoke before golf anymore, can't stay focused, and really don't care when I'm like that) Hopefully it will go up. Whether it does or not, I'll still enjoy golfing. I just don't think I'll ever have the time to get good enough to move up...to meet my own standards, not the PDGA's. I look forward to meeting all the golfers on this side of the US, should be a great tourney to start out over here. I plan on playing the Warriors Path tourney here in Kingsport also.

I think if someone moves up they outta stick to it. (barring a car crash or something like that)Just cuz they haven't done as well lately and their rating has dropped down doesn't mean they should move back down to Adv. Where should we stop it??? Why not let your rating get low enough so you can move all the way down to rec, then you'll really be raking in the plastic. You're right though, I shouldn't have called them puzzies, I'll just call them confidence challenged golfers for now. I truely don't mean to offend anyone, I guess the ratings don't lie. I don't have any pitty for the pros that are moving down to play this.-even if it wasn't skins afterwards. What gets me is would they still be moving down to play this if there were no skins? Or would they be playing in a NT event, trying to qualify for the USDGC? The pro players at the NT are the ones that should be upset with the pros "floating" down to Asheville. Like I said earlier, it's not gonna change the way I shoot, if anything I hope it pushes me to excellllllll. Thanks for the advice though. :)

I stick to my player rating. That's the truest (if there is such a thing) measure of your competition. If you know your player rating will go up, but hasn't yet, play accordingly. and vice versa. The great thing about ratings is, you can see trends. Just like Cams slumped, mine too may flatten, or, gulp, drop. The PDGA has simply made it easier for players to play against competitive fields, regardless of division. Heck, Des Reading could drop from the Crosstown and come in and take all our skins if she wanted. It's not just us lower pros, it's anyone under 955. Remember that.
Matt (My rating is currently tied with a World Champion)
Come to Asheville, play, have fun. That's all anyone should expect from this tournament. That's all any am should expect, James runs a tournament like a Dickens novel.... And it's not Oliver's Twist.

I'm looking forward to a great time golfing and relaxation. I still don't agree with the float rule. The PDGA should change the numbers of the ratings and make another division. Don't give the fox a chance to go to the hen house.

Let's not all get provoked! :D
The point is to not call my buddies and I puzzies without knowing anything about us. You have NO idea how much Mook, Myself and Matt do for disc golf. YOU ARE DISSING EMBASADORS OF THE SPORT WHO GIVE THEIR TIME AND ENERGY TO THE SPORT OF DISC GOLF. If it were not for TD's like Mook and I, you would not get to play in any PDGA events.
We all have our stories/ excuses/ etc... on why we are not better or don't play to our full potential. My life is MUCH different than when I turned pro.
You are probably a pretty good guy like most other disc golfers, so I'll quit biaching back. It is just natural for me to defend myself and my friends when attacked.

<<Not that it's any of your f#!*#ing business, but My player rating has been between 940-960 for the last 5 years, right now it's 952, therefore I qualify for this tournament
I coulnt say that my rating has really dropped, I'm fairly consistent, probably shoot some 952 golf next weekend. The PDGA's the one you should be mad at, there the one's who started the float rule. Just because I am taking advantage of it means nothing. I could play down in any tournament, not just this one. Fact is then I'd have to deal with a more discourteous sort every round (i.e. yourself)
I'm coming to this tournament to hang out with some of my friends that are attending, plus I like the mountains and have never played in Asheville, thought it might be fun to play an new course, and to play with some friends that I never am grouped with at tournies. I was not going to Raleigh regardless.
So bagger, I don't have any pitty for baggers who play advanced their whole lives and put their deficiencies off on their families. I don't feel sorry that Kenny and Barry arent splitting my $125 either.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO!
I would choose to play in the Asheville MSF over the X-town 100 times out of 100. I was extremely upset that I couldn't make the AMSF last year! Now this news is devastating. It is a crying shame that ams get this spectacular tournament instead of pros.
Here, let me get you a tissue.
I'm just not seeing the logic there. It looks to me like
an outside entity wants some advertising, is footing the
bill, and targeting a market. This is economic freedom
of choice. And you're talking about chump change anyway.
If the wild wing wants to pay to see people get excited
about a couple o' Franklins, whoopdedoo and good for them.
Is that pretty much the deal or did I miss something?
Now if the PDGA was footing the bill, then you'd have
reason to beeatch. As it is the PDGA will come out
money ahead on this - right?
Oh, and if I was there, I'd probably sign up ;)
it does look like fun, pizza and Frisbee is such
an organic combination.
Why doesn't someone go out to IBM or BMW or Pizza Hut and
have them put up a little bigger prize for the Pros.
Do you think all of Tiger's winnings are out of the pockets of the boys that missed the cut? How long would that last?
And who would watch it?
I'd be laughing a lot harder if you all didn't seem so
serious for a day of $100/$200 skins. Gee, with that I could get me one of them fancy CE Valks and a 12 pack.
If the whole Pro v. Am thing is too confusing for you,
just play poker. EVERYONE is both, you just never know
which day you're going to be which one, and for just one of those Franklins you can win a couple of million next month.
Think of all the pizza and plastic you could get then...

I have a great solution to your dilema P2, since you don't wnat to play with whorley and don't know where he'll be,
QUIT,
then his "whining" will have no affect, and you'll never have to worry about being on his card, in his tournament, nothing.
this was merely a suggestion, I never implied any wish for action one way or the other, as stated...
P2, I'm not telling you to quit, merely offering the simplest most effective solution to what I percieve to be a psuedo-issue, in a humorous manner.
I just think its rediculous to go as far as not wanting to play in a tournament with someone over this, especially when you made it a public issue, instead of handling between you and whorley.

Divot is only the stickiest of the icky. While you are a good guy Kozak, you are neither sticky nor icky, nor itchy or scratchy. But you are a favorite for skins on Saturday so drop that 2nd rate plastic and throw some rocs. Same for you Clark.

I think we are stayin with Biggs Fri. and Sat., but the Wop and I will be in Casheville by tommorrow evening. We will definintly need a place to stay tommorrow. Wop and I are voyaging across the state playing wooded courses tommorrow, like wellspring and johnston st. and hopefully Hickory, which is a new course for us. Gough, if you can take a trip down the mountain and hook up with us in Hickory in the evening. If not we'll holla when we arrive. Any good bands at the peel or the stella?
Sorry about the tardiness in getting this posted. Good Luck to all!!

Jeb is defintely right about the Sticky, and the Icky; both of which I'm not sure you qualify. But also, you must be a DEP or transplant for at least 3 golf seasons therin. Also, you must have partaken in unmentionable innitiation ceremonies which I'm not sure you can handle. Sorry man, Divot is truly a way of life, not just a team to join. I recommend starting a flock of your own, Team Bagger or something to that effect.

Moneyca Livingston was leading Am womens after first round and got to play skins on saturday, she almost aced on the 4th skin on a 220 foot uphill hole with a blind green surrounded by trees. The mulch circle aroud the trees was 30 ft diameter, MAYBE. anything not in the mulch was OB. Monica was the only one in the mulch, and canned her putt in some fierce wind to win 2 skins worth $200.
There were 3 aces today, Hole 1, 8, and 10.
5 players played skins today, Marcus VerBillions, Kurt Powers, Dave Gilstrap, and 2 other folks. They played for $200 a hole. Not sure what the outcome was, but Saturday skins was a blast.
I was leading after the first round then progressively got worse and worse. I ended up 15th. Yet another great tournament James, I enjoyed it all. the food, the spotters, the prizes, the skins, the music and festival, the course of course, the excellent golf I got to play and then witness for 3 more rounds, the town, Wild Wings, local breweries, etc etc. A fun time was had by all. You set the bar for all tournaments, and you never underdeliver. Best **** tournament, and just imagine what it will be like if we get that 36 hole course! WOW.
Congrats to the winners. We'll see you next year, bigger and better as usual.

Just wanted to says thanks to James,Queen B and the rest of the cashville crew you guys have one great tournament see you guys in 2006 if not before to help with the new course.
I had a great time in Asheville this past weekend at the Mountain Disc Golf Experience...... Without a doubt this is one of (if not THE) best ran disc golf tournament that I've ever played in...... and I will be back next year, hopefully bringing some more of the DC (Durham County) crew with me!
A big thanks to James, the WNC Disc Golf Club, the many volunteers & everyone else that was involved in putting on the tournament. It was nice to see so many people I've played with in before and it was great to meet so many new people. I had a blast playing with my fellow "old guys" in the Masters division..... Chris Tuten, Don Wallace, Tom Holbrook, Mark Beasley, Scott Crouch & JR Ghosthorse.... I definitely enjoyed playing with all of you and look forward to getting together again in the future. If you're ever in the Raleigh/Durham area and want to play some disc golf..... look me up and I'll gladly show you around the local courses.
And finally a big thanks to Donnie Murphy for letting us party & crash at his place.

May 03 2005, 12:38 AM
Hey guys, thanks for the great great tourney. I'm grateful to have been able to play the course, forget Cam Todd. The course is brutal, not unfair, there's a difference. Skins were amazing, the food was muy bueno, and all you WNC peeps are great hosts! I'm definitely makin a trip or two up there before you change the course. Thanks again and we'll see you round Kakalaki this summer. Peace!!
ditto what RD said, except the part about playing Masters and crashing at Donnie's place. basically, it was the best run tournament that i've seen outside of the MSDGC.
all the leg work in getting it set up was evident and the TD was The Man. the local club impressed me with active participation in the form of spotting on the tough holes, moving the pins between rounds, etc. we could use more clubs like this one b/c it takes more than a handful of people to pull something like this off. i don't say this to the people who played, b/c you all saw it for yourselves. this is for the people reading this who want to know how they can do the same thing: get help from your club!!
despite getting my skinny ***** kicked, i really enjoyed the tough course and all the peeps i played with: JR Ghosthorse in doubles Friday night, John Grant, Millsie, Cambagger, Marcus, RJ1, etc.
my first taste of being at the top of the lead card was not at all tainted by the fact it happened in 1st round.
A little birdie visited me in a dream,
Speaking of things that seemed utterly extreme.
"The Largest Free Outdoor Street Festival in the Southeast,
And you won't even need your Eagle, Orc, or Beast.
Just a stack of Aviars should do the trick,
And you'll win a stack of cash, if you just get them to stick."
where do i start????? the most amazing tournament of my life......it was such an awesome tournament i am speechless when it comes to explaining it.........that was by far the most challenging course i have played.......required every shot in my bag.......and the tourney was run to perfection......great big leader boards, no confusion, ran smooth, lunch was always there, the pay outs, ace pool, players pack, a few dozen other things, and last but not least the random draw for the 5th spot at the skins on saturday night........ive never had a real gallery of people watch me play disc golf......to hear the reactions when i hit the massive head wind putt and then the unforgettable 40-footer on top of that green thing......something ill never forget.......asheville hooks it up and you can count me in for next year..............if you play in just one tourney next year......this would be the one......thank you to everyone that made the weekend possible and thank you for making it my personal best weekend of disc golf ever!!!

i most definately agree millsie.
big thanks to James and Meredith, as well as the rest of the WNC discgolf club for getting everything together so nicely. the course looked great, the pads were a big help, the sponsorships were ridiculous, and everything ran smoothly. special thanks to Ryan B., who wasn't able to play, but got tons of nice pics of the event. urban skins was the most fun i've had playing golf in a long time, just wish i coulda pulled one. K.P. had the most amazing shot on the last hole, certainly a 1000$ drive. almost as nice as Jebs drive on #4.
it was good to see all the greenville kids....
thanks again for a great time.
good times in A-town WNC put on a hella show see you guys next year
HUGE KUDOS here also on the tourney. This was only my 2nd tournament, as I've only been playing for about a year. I had a blast. It has to be well organized and awesome for me to say that even though I came in dead last I think. The course was tough but I learned a lot playing on it. Many new shots that I had never even attempted before.
Thanks to all who organized the tourney. It was great to meet everyone. Tuten, Dickie, Tom, Scott, AJ, and all the others I played with and hung out with, it was a blast. For you three masters players who were stuck with me on your card for the last round, I learned a lot by watching you play and I appreciate all the advice and encouragement you gave.
Hope to see many of you during the Lakefront Open here in lovely Kingsport in about 2 weeks from now. Take care and keep tossin'!
Okay, I just woke up. It has taken me two days to clear from all of the excitement and great disc golf. James and I had a blast and the wheels are already turning for next year. Although, you might not have to wait 'til next year for some more $$ in downtown Asheville. Check in wth us soon and we'll let you know.
Thank you to all of the great people that came to the event. Disc golf is our passion and we hope to pass it on!
Did you all hear that we made front page of the sports section in our local paper!! It was even bigger than Nascar!!!
I look forward to MDGE '06.
