Emerald Isle is proud to announce our First Monthly

Every 3rd Saturday at Noon beginning April 16 2005 :D

Green fee rates will be the same as 2pm twilight rates

This will be new to us so any help organizing this will really help

and as some of you know, people who help us get comps in return :D

the 3rd Saturday is normally the weekend that Morley has thier tournament. Plus Sun Valley is talking about doing a tournament every other month when Morley doesn't have Advanced and open playing. You might pull more of the San Diego Players if it was on the 2nd or 4th Saturday.

Well looking at that line up I would go for 1st Saturday of the month.

One thing to take into consideration, Morley only does advanced and Pro's every other month. Those are your main player base, so perhaps start with an every other monthly?

Just a thought, I will make it up for a few no matter what.

I think 2nd Saturday would be better. Ventura is a long ways away and La Mirada's thing is a handicap event. Plus 1st is HB and I know there are a few guys from there that really like Emerald and would probably try to come down when they could. :)

Skip, you know that the term "monthly" implies a two round deal around here, right? If we got 40 players that could be pretty hard to swing logistically on the ball golf course, so we should get together and brain storm about it. And invite everybody that is interested in helping out.

Due in part to having an afternoon off with 1 month free pass in hand and very few BG to get in his way :D

All is right again with the world of Emerald Isle doubles.

We had a bunch of military families and kids out at Emerald Isle yesterday, and it was a blast. "Salute Our Services" has a thing called "Kids Serve 2", and they had an event with those blow-up jump things and hot dogs and cotton candy and snow cones and stuff.

Ping was doing ball golf demos/clinics, and we had Joel Rogers doing a nice little show with his partner where they demonstrated basic throws, catches, and then did a freestyle routine. Then all heck broke loose as we let the kids throw 150-class DX Leopards and Sharks on the driving range at the course. There was only one casualty, a little girl conked int he back of the head, and she was back for the second show and throwing drivers on the range. Hopefully that means there is no lasting trauma from that. :o

My wife and I took about five or six of the more die hard kids and played a few holes on the course with them. One 13 year old girl dropped in a 100+ footer on hole 18 by crashing the top of th etree on the right, deflecting to the top of the basket, bouncing up once, and then dropping through the top! We all cheered wildly for that one, and I'm sure they will all remember it. I think we had two boys and that same girl who reallty seemed to "catch the fever". I hope to see them out at the course in the future. :) All of the kids had plenty of fun and got a pretty nice intro to discs.

Hey Rhett , welcome back.
Opps.........clarification...........6 total players.

Dave and I were going to play singles for each others money.

Since there was 6 players , I suggested , Dave and I play against the other 4 players. 2on 4 deal.

The whole group decided on just regular doubles by flipping discs. Probably a little more fair , unless Dave and I some how got teamed up together.

I'm spreading the word out down here about Emerald Isles and hopefully some of the guys up north will come down too !!!

It is kind of tough with everyone's schedule. I'll keep trying though. :D

Just talked with Snapper here today and something has come up and I'm not sure I'll make it up on Tuesday.

We are going to the Veterans Hospital to visit a Frisbee Friend of ours , who is dying of bone cancer. He has had it for awile.

He called Snapper yesterday and I don't think he has any time left.

I have got to go see him. :(

There was a great turn-out yesterday for EI singles. A total of two Pros and three Ams showed up to participate in the event.

Earlier in the day Dave and I were talking on the phone about the fact that we haven't had a chance to play head to head in a long time. So I guess in odd irony, that is why we were the only ones to show up, we needed to battle.

Anyhow, Dave had a rough start and I played solid on the front nine. We ended the front with Dave at even par, and I was three under par. On hole 15 Dave had a chance to nip at my heals, but he had a putt fall out of the basket, and from there, all I had to do was par out to insure the win. The day ended with me at -5 for the day, and Dave with -2.

In AM news, Daniel Lichtman beat out Cheese and David(last name?) with a score of one under par.


Dave graciously thanked me for kicking his �ss :) And we had a lot of fun competing head-to-head.

Nice shooting yesterday...Man, that double and single bogey on the back nine killed me. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Who got the CTP though? :D

$4 is all that is required (green Fee)
If you want a cart, buy beer or any bets are up to you.
I just provide the venue and throw in a $10 credit for ctp Pro and Am.

I'll do my best to answer some of your questions.

Skip does an excellent job ,in helping us Disc Golfers play at his Ball Golf course.

Doubles on Tuesday nights , I think.

Singles on Thursday nights. Yes , $ 4.00 greens fees !!!!!!
Pretty Dang cheap to play on a Ball Golf course.

The Pro shop , also has Food and snacks.
A restroom , actually a couple of them.
Cold Drinks a place to sit down and GOLF DISCS for sale.
Yep , Golf Discs and cheap too !!!!!!

Tourney prices are what ever we want to make them !!!!!!
Nothing there is set in stone.

Normally about $ 5.00 a man to $ 10.00 a man, depending on what the folks agree on. That's the variable part. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Carts are an option and are not mandatory. I do recommend though. Very nice option for about $ 8.00 I think.
Ask Skip at the Pro shop. I maybe mistaken.

Yes , the Carts hold YOU , you bag and all your Stuff , and as many BEERS you want to purchase from the beer cart and/or the Pro shop !!!!! 2 cases is kinda max per cart in my opinion though. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Two guys can usually share a cart , and trust me it is well worth the extra cost.
Saves walking time, works as a rolling caddy , beers don't spill over and a excellent place to sit down , while waiting your turn to throw !!!!!!! :D

Skip, thanks for the hospitality this afternoon. It was fun to get a round in at EI. Rizbee Jr. had a tough round but I played pretty well (#&@$! baskets). The cart was a good choice - we started about 6pm and finished 18 just as it got dark. Rizbee-ette had fun searching for bunnies.
