Pease needed a couple of longer, non pitch-and-putt holes. And this serves that purpose very well.

#8 would be the new 8 to 10.
#9 would be old #11
#10 would be old #12

Chile, the star logo is the main one for the tournament. The shirts and most of the discs will have this on them.

The jester is a second logo to give people a choice if they want a different stamp on their discs or minis. I'll try to get a black soft magnet with this logo to see if you'll buy it anyway. :D

I played the new 18 hole layout this weekend and it rocks. The only difference will be that Hole #1 and Hole #7 will not be as long as they were then.

I could have had a 4 on #7 even with my drive that whacked the top of the clowns mouth and rolled behind the tree, a lousy attempt at a forehand shot from there and a nice pull to the left of where the basket will be, short #9 right now.

Mike and Dave, those are excellent replacements!!!

LouMoreno
Apr 05 2005, 06:14 PM
COTO will be 18 holes. It'll be the same layout that Dave used at his player appreciation day mini in December.

1's tee plays to 2's basket and a new tee on 7 playing to 10's basket. You'll see the flags up for the new 7 tee if you play the course.

Y'all should consider toughening up some of those holes, at least for the open divisions, or at least for some rounds. Really, think about Circle C and how people are raving about it (at least people I have talked to). I mean, Pease will never be like that, but spicing up some of the holes on a temporary basis might add some flavor.

LouMoreno
Apr 05 2005, 06:27 PM
I don't think so. Waterloo has workdays scheduled for the first 2 weekends in May to complete the project.

Dave or Suda might start on it earlier but it was still a 21 hole course last Friday.

LouMoreno
Apr 05 2005, 06:37 PM
James, what are you envisioning? Yellow rope?

james_mccaine
Apr 05 2005, 06:51 PM
Yes, and/or possible mandos. I'm not saying it needs to be used for all divisions, but 1-2 and 7-10 seem to be to be semi-easy threes, but impossible 2s for the open division. I could be wrong, and would like to see data from the minis.

You might want to consult with Olse as he has good ideas. My thoughts on the position of the mandos/ropes depends on the pin position. For example if 10 is near the creek, an island of OB on the left and behind would make that hole pretty interesting. I am not thinking about a real tight fairway, but OB placed in an area that punishes poor left dying upshots and makes people gravitate more towards the creek. Also, a little OB deep (I'm talking 25 feet, not 10) would add a cool dimension.

These is just thinking off the top of my head, but for one round at least, a little OB sure could spice up those holes.

ZCRUSHER
Apr 05 2005, 07:56 PM
This is a great Tourney and i will be there for sure

Apr 06 2005, 10:23 AM
Not sure if it will happen, but I agree James. I have some yellow rope and I'm wanting to try it out. I like the idea of OB sandtraps/circles of yellow rope deep or to the sides of some holes. Maybe in the fairways of longer shots like #19. Fun, fun, fun... We will have the 18 hole layout ready in the next week or so if not sooner. Mitch, come by the trailer Thursday and Iet's talk about our Pease committee stuff. I scheduled the walk through with the Parks crew leader and dirt drop off.

I disagree...tee times don't mean more get to play.
It means people finishing in the dark and having no time for lunch.
Sit down and do the math verses the times.

Apr 07 2005, 12:16 PM
there is the daylight savings thing to consider by may it will prob. be light till 8 to 9pm, but then how to do the shuffles and awards and get people on the road to make it home early enough to get some sleep for work on mon.

Apr 07 2005, 03:11 PM
ok V...TEE TIMES=132 players last year...shotgun=90 players...42 more players...now let us see your math...and I had over 2 hours for lunch last year...and where were you :o

Apr 07 2005, 03:37 PM
STILL HOPING TO GET TO PLAY THIS ONE........

HAD A BLAST LAST YEAR, AND THE TEE TIMES WERE AWESOME......

LUNCH WASNT AN ISSUE FOR US EITHER......

vinnie
Apr 07 2005, 04:06 PM
132 divided by 4 (1 card)=33 cards going off every 8 min =264 min or 4.4 hours for one flight to complete.
30 min to figure shuffle.
(without lunch) = 9.3 hours of play
So if you start everyone at 7:00 AM! all play will be over at 4:20 (weird how that worked out)
add a hour for lunch and we are done at 5:20.
NOT BAD IF YOU WANT TO START AT 7:00AM.
So let add 2 hours to start time (9:00am) so the end of flights at 7:20. You maybe right. start at 9:00am and finish right at dark( if nothing happens) or you get "finishing in the dark"
this is all based on 4 somes....becomes even a longer day if you have cards of 3
Then you have to worry about everyone know their tee time.
I guess I might be wrong to have a start time and KNOW exactly when the day will be over. But I am sure all will be good.....I am just glad I will not be the person the complaints will have to go through. :D

james_mccaine
Apr 07 2005, 04:35 PM
No, the 30 minute shuffle occurs during that 4.4 hours. Things I like about the tee times is that it tends to flow better, and everyone starts on hole one. Also, although you must get up early one day, the other day, you get to sleep in really late.

The difficult thing about tee times is getting the info out to everyone about their next morning start.

tbender
Apr 07 2005, 04:46 PM
The shuffling occurs while cards from other divisions are on the course. It amounts to lighter, yet constant work by the TD staff, instead of a concentrated timeframe (halftime/lunch) to get the next round scores/cards sorted out. It ends up looking like the rounds run together because as soon as the last card of round 1 goes off, the first card of round 2 is right behind them and they've already had an hour or so for lunch.

The last two years, the tee times ran smoothly. And last year was much smoother than 2003.

The biggest issue is the communication of round 1 tee times...Hope the computer this year doesn't quit Friday. :)

Late again...need to hit submit before walking away....

The Innova Fundraiser Discs are here! :D

We have Candy Starfires with the hotstamp logo for $25 (in assorted colors/weights).

We also have the Inn Color Glow Orcs for $30. These look very SWEET!!! The picture is below, but it doesn't really do the disc justice. The area around the star is a dark blue, the blue sky is more pronounced, and the star is more shades of yellow/brown/black. It is pretty. :D

We will have these available at the Thursday Circle C minis and our board members will also have some for sale with them soon. If you see them out on the course, ask them about it: Dan Mueller, Mitch & Patty Justice, Rob Hecht, Roger Allen, Sheldon Parker, Lou Moreno, Mike Olse, Mark McCrimmon.

New from Innova this year is a special appreciation, the Sponsor Reward Program. For every fundraiser disc you buy, you get a certificate that you can send in to them. They draw some of these monthly for some great prizes. Some examples of rewards they will be giving away include: Skill Shot and DISCatcher targets, merchandise and even a Sponsors Exemption to compete in the 2005 United States Disc Golf Championships.

Also, to show our appreciation for your support, we will put your name on a tee sign during the tournament PLUS we will have a raffle of our own just for the folks who buy these fundraiser discs.

Thanks in advance for all your support!

The fundraiser discs are a big hit so far! 10 of the Glow Orcs are already gone and 6 of the Starfires too (out of only 25 of each kind). Don't wait too long to buy/reserve yours. You can contact me about it at [email protected] or PM me. You can also go out to the Circle C weekly mini on Thursdays, Mitch has some with him. He can also often be found hanging out at Pease.

For those folks up north, Ray will have some for sale hopefully by early next week (he lives in Plano).

I'll be here monday-thursday next week Jerry, so call me and we'll work out a time. I'm out of town for a while after that.

The Pro Starfires probably won't be in until shortly before the tournament, but I'll set one aside for you in the weight you wanted.

A 3-year renewal is $40 (save $5), a 5-year is $65 (save $10), 10 years is $125 (save $25) or go all out for a lifetime membership renewal of $300 - save a bunch and never have to worry about it again (you would be our 4th lifetime person if you do).

Thanks! :)

Work Days

Sunday May 1st
&
Sunday May 8th

Starts at 10:00 am each day

Pease Park Disc Golf Course

Please bring shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, weed-eaters, and mallets (for driving large nails into the ground).

We will also need a lot of yellow rope to mark OB areas around the creek. If you have any you can donate, we would greatly appreciate it. Just bring it with you or drop it off at Moodys Trailer prior to the work days.

Austins Pizza and Mustache Petes will be providing free pizza for the volunteers both days. We have a lot of work to do to get the course ready for COTO in mid-May, so please come down and help out.

We will have a 1-round mini following the workday on May 8th.

Apr 26 2005, 12:30 PM
We now have 43 or 44 entered so far. I'll get the latest group up this evening when I get home to the spreadsheet and can send out confirmations.

TitleDisc.Com (http://www.titledisc.com) will be up until Thursday evening May 12 unless we fill before then, of course. :D

This is going to be a great layout for this course and I'm sure the City will appreciate the changes that help reduce erosion

Keep the entries coming and get you a Fund Raiser disc. That money goes into the players packs for Ams and the payout for Pros. Purchasers of the Fund Raiser Discs are in for an extra treat so stay tuned

...You don't need to be present to win, but I think there was a matter of a stipend required to be considered as eligible. This would be used to cover the winners entry fee (hopefully).

You have to finish among the top 5 Texan scores in a B-Tier or above this year prior to and including LOSO. The winners will be drawn there. Everytime you qualify it gets you another ticket in the hat. I'll start publishing a list of qualified players soon.

Looks like there are only 4 more chances to earn your chance to get a USDGC spot. Waco NT, COTO , Big Arms on the Brazos and LOSO.

Maybe our State Coordinator can tell us what more they need to do for that qualification, Gary?

Ray...check your e-mail...I just sent you 10 more entries

gnduke
May 09 2005, 01:42 AM
As I remember:

1. Be from Texas.
2. Finish with one of the top 5 texas scores (and be in the top 10 scores overall) at a B-Tier or above in Texas.
3. Send in $20 before LOSO (or at LOSO if you qualify there) Paypal to [email protected] with usdgc in the title will do.
4. Watch to see who is pulled from the hat (box, bucket whatever they use there).

The winner will get the $20 entries to pay their entry fee and if any is left, offset expenses.

I will be compiling a list this week. If you think you have finished in the top 5 of a B-tier or above that does not have the scores listed, Please make sure the TD gets the scores to me.

There is one exception. The TWC was a B-Tier, but the women chose to play for a trip to the USWDGC in Peoria instead of a shot at the USDGC.

TEXAS

Once upon a time in the kingdom of Heaven, God was missing for six
days.

Eventually, Michael the Archangel found him, resting on the seventh day.

He inquired of God. "Where have you been?"

God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards
through the clouds, "Look, Michael. Look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to
call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."

"Balance?" Inquired Michael, still confused.

God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example,
northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth butcold
and harsh while southern Europe is going to be poor but sunny and
pleasant. "I have made some lands abundant in water and other lands
parched deserts. This one will be extremely hot and while this one will
be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land mass
and said "What's that one?"

"Ah," said God. "That's TEXAS -- the most glorious place on earth.

There are beautiful beaches, streams, hills, and forests. The people from
TEXAS are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent and humorous and
they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely
sociable, hardworking and high achieving, and they will be knownthroughout
the world as diplomats and carriers of peace."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What
about balance, God? You said there would be balance!"

God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the idiots I put in AUSTIN."

A TEXAS BLESSING

We will start Saturday morning with the Open Men then Women, then Masters, Advanced Men, Advanced Masters, Advanced GrandMasters, Inetrmediate Men, Women, Rec Men and finally the Jrs.. Groups of 4 cards with 3-4 players per card sent out in 8 minute intervals.

Hope this helps Harry,

Gary:
Can you wait and see if you make the top 5 at COTO and then pay your $20 for your chance to be picked for TX State Rep for USDGC?

I can squeeze a few more in than 132, but no more than 136 for this year anyway :D

Chris, as long as the money is received by me before LOSO, or given to the TD at LOSO before the awards.

(thanks Brian, I guess I should formally ask before volunteering your services).

Gary was 2004 states a qualifier? If so, how do those people get their names in the hat?

James,

I'm not Gary but you can check TX State Qualifiers for TX Representative to USDGC (http://www.lsdga.com/news/index.php)

James, that's a good question.

I'll have to gather some stats for B-Tiers and above from after last August.

Quite a few good events are being left out.

Thanks for the link. So now, my question is this: "Can people that have not sent Gary $20 for those old tournaments still pay for those times they qualified in the past and get credit/tickets for them?"

prairie_dawg
May 11 2005, 11:22 AM
Your tickets aren't good until you pay. And you have until they draw at LOSO to make your tickets good. $20 will get as many tickets as you have good for the drawing. That's from the link and other info on the board :D

gnduke
May 11 2005, 12:38 PM
He is correct. You get as many tickets as the number of times you qualified for $20. You don't get any tickets until you pay the one time fee of $20.

Did anyone play the Pease mini with the tournament OB layout yesterday? Anyone have feedback?

May 11 2005, 12:42 PM
what would you like to know LOU?

May 11 2005, 12:44 PM
Were there any problems with the OB lines? Is there anything that you think needs to be addressed before the tournament? That kind of stuff.

Were there any flags to the edge of the fairways by the creek?

The only O.B I noticed that i got feedback for is the one along the creek on #2. The Water is plenty sufficient as an O.B line. There doesn't need to be a string, rope, or anything there; the water line marks it pretty well. According to where it was positioned you lose a good 6ft of much needed ground on an already narrow fairway. Dump the string on #2 along the water. My 2 cents.
