Or back the Tee box up by 50 feet that always takes care of it. Seriously either put the string close to the water or dump it. Although it doesn't effect me, i'll be going up, up and awaaaay over the top of the trees and parked for the drop in duece.

I'm not sure why you need a string where there is already water, but backing up the box is a good idea.

the string on old hole 3 is bogus. already enough punishment.
put string on the cliff of old 12. keep golfers safe and speed of play.

There is a real strategery behind it. It takes the possible 2 from you. :D
Really, that hole is too pedestrian. Most everyone gets a three. Making it tougher would produce a better spread.

The string on hole 2 seems to be a big waste of time and could cause even more debate as to whether or not the disc crossed in bounds or not. It seems easy enough to call the water and beyond on this hole ob, should be sufficient enough. To me a good idea would be to string rope along the left side of 4 along the ridge line, then running string down the right side tightening up the fairway, this string could also be used as ob on hole 5.
String down the left side of new hole 7 forcing people to bring more of the trees and the creek into play. Hole 9 (the cliff hole) could use some rope down the left side also forcing a tighter fairway and more accurate shots. The same could be done on hole 10, especially in the long. This string could also be used as ob for hole 16.
Hole 1 would be a great hole if there was ob string down the right side forcing people to play to the middle or left, rewarding accurate drives, but also forcing people to bail out to the left and bringing the trees behind 1s old long pin into play. Right now I think you're just going to see a lot of 3's on all of hole 1s positions because there isn't much risk reward, and the distance isn't really there at any of the positions to create a true par 4. You may see some 4's on this hole, but not really any legitimate 5's.
I'm referring of course, to open and advanced players. I don't think enforcing these type of ob's on intermediate or rec would be wise for speed of play and frustration factor......
It seems for this tournament we could design a more challenging course, in turn creating a bigger spread in scores and more tournament caliber play, rather then just 3 rounds of tuesday mini golf and a final 9.
I'd be willing to come out on thurday/friday morning to help string rope if it means we can have a better course for this event.

String on hole two is not a bad idea early on the hole, before the water is clearly defined. People who go o.b. early should be forced to throw from the fairway and not from the undefined creek bed. I am thinking sting the edge of the fairway from the teebox to the beginning of the water so that as you hyzer off of the tee box you only have about 40 feet till you start crossing over o.b. Just another opinion.

Tee times are great. I just woke up and still have several hours before I have to tee the 3rd round. Sleeping in on Sundays is a the best part of playing any pro division. Golden State really does have it down. Not sure I could ever figure all the hoops on the PDGA official score deal though.

For a NT, the scores are suppose to be up as soon as they can be. The PDGA even sends the equipment to the TD to do the scoring from the course.

Rec women did not play the final nine, which explains Michelle's score being what it is. She's new to Austin Disc Golf and plays Pease casually and Twin Parks. I just awoke from a long and much needed sleep.
The final nine for MM1, MG1, FW1, MA2, FW2 and MA3 was a throwback to the 21 layout. Hole 22 from picnic table to practice basket. Old #1 and #2. Regular #2-6 and #8. Michelle and Lauren FW3 didn't play a final 9.
The final 9 for MA1, MPM and MPO consisted of Long #7, #9-#17 short basket, #10-#11 basket, #12-#16 and the cliff to #18 long basket.
I'll post the results on the PDGA site when Linda send me the file.
Many thanks to the staff, Roger, Sheldon, Patty, Mitch, Gordon, Lynda, Lou, MikeO, Mark, Del, RickA and RickV and Vinnie for his computer, even if it didn't want to talk to our networks and allow a nightly posting. We couldn't have done it without these and may others that spotted. Also Kudos to Dave Moody and Mike Suida for the redesign of the course.

You might also keep in mind that he didn't shoot anywhere close to his best. His usual round is better than a -3. This was his first Advanced run and he put on a tournament face. He took strokes where he needed the safety.
Based on what I have watched over just the last 3 months, 2 years from now he'll be close to or pass a 1000 rating. Maybe that's just the proud [@$%^ he beat me again] parent in me, but watch out. The boy is coming for all of you.

Yeah, I was having a really bad time of it that day. I had a terrible sinus headache...anyway, I would have liked to play the final nine, if I had been feeling better, but when given the option, Lauren and I opted not to. Maybe next time! I am looking forward to getting a chance to throw with the other Austin ladies that I met and hooking up with Dee when I visit Houston. The tourney was a great time! I had alot of fun! Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming and I WILL be around!

Thanks Martin,
There was certainly stuff for us to improve on, but then there always is and always will be :D
Way to go Ray!!! You did a great job again.
Thanks also to the rest of the staff, everyone worked very hard to make it a good tournament.
Playing and staffing is rough, but I had a really good time too. I can't believe I made the finals and cashed :D.

Thank you to everyone who came down and played, staffed, or just watched COTO! The weather held out for us (thank goodness there was no rain!). As soon as we have the final numbers about how much was raised for EDGE and how much was raised for course improvements, well let you know.
Does anyone have any photos that they took of the tournament? I have some from the awards ceremony, but not from during the days on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. If you have any, or if you know of someone that has some, please email them to me at
[email protected] If they are regular photos (not digital) and you have 2nd copies that you would be swilling to send, you can mail them to WDGC, PO Box 33531, Austin, TX, 78764. Be sure to tell me who took them so we can credit the photographer.
Thanks!
Gordon

Man, I wish I could go! I have family stuff going on this weekend!! I won't be able to even think about another tourney until mid June, at best. Gotta get myself free of all these other obligations! I have not even thrown a disc since the tourney!!! Tragic!!!
