Why do you need 3? I'd be just fine with a Roc & Aviar.

I'm surprised to see so many people say an Orc. Is it because its the "new flavor," or do people really love it that much? I like them, but they're way too understable to have as a driver if you only going to carry 3 discs. And on a windy day you'd be doomed with an Orc.

If I chose a more stable driver in case of wind, I would be giving up 30-50' on most of my long drives. I can't normally get 400', so that loss of 30-50' would really hurt me on most golf courses. The only wind that the Orc really can't deal with is a direct and considerable headwind. And yes, I LOVE the Orc!

I often play with three discs while I run. My course is great for speed golf with lots of altitude change and it's a fun workout (Since I hate runnig for no reason). I set the record at the Montrose Course (unwitnessed) last summer with a JKValk, Roc and Z-Putt'r with -11 in just over 20 minutes. Now, the two constants are the X-Challenger and the 04 CE Roc (Blue hole 5). The driver would be the a 175g yellow CE Valk if there is little wind to worry about. Otherwise, take you pick of Viking, Orc, Talon or QJLS. In the spirit of the original question:

Sep 07 2004, 10:35 AM
Driver: Millennium JLS

I've managed more distance using the JLS than with any other disc, including the Teebird. Also, it's made of quality plastic.

Approach/Driver: Discraft Comet

Goes straight and true when thrown hard, turns consistently when thrown softly, and is made of plastic that doesn't fall to pieces when it hits trees.

Putter/Approach: Innova Aero

Mine is now warped a bit from being in the car in the summer heat too much, but it still travels fairly true to the basket on putts, and I can really make this disc bank to the right, although it doesn't travel as far as the others.

I actually walk around with these three discs when I'm practicing disc golf. I often carry a fourth disc, as well: the Innova Shark. There are situations when I need something between the Comet and the Aero. I can drive the Shark and make it turn right better than I can the Comet. Also, the Shark works out on occasion for some putt/approaches -- again, usually when I'm trying to throw a distance and to the right.

Not as true as you would think. A few posts up is someone who listed 3 putters, then another lists a firebird as their driver, then another listed a sidewinder, and yet another lists a putter and two roc's.

My vote will probably fit your statement though:
Valkyrie
Roc

Flynvegas, what is the difference in flight between the SB and the super? I have both in my bag and find a new super to be more overstable (but only a little bit). would like to know why you would pick each of them when you only get 3 discs? Have you been able to wear your SB into super straitness? The plastic is so tough that mine still looks/flies new after many a tree. I might have to take it out behind the barn and rough it up a bit depending on your reply.

E wizard

tuned 11x roc (Just started throwing the buzzz tho...)

CFR SL (tough call between the SX and SL but I would pick the SL over the straitness of the SX for its tournover ability)

It can be fun, and interesting to see what the max weight discs REALLY weigh. I know in years past, i've found a lot of max weight discs actually are 2-4 grams over max!! I mean....who's going to take the time to verify the weight that the manufacturer SAYS it is. :) Check, you'll see.

This is a pretty easy decision for me. I don't have to think about this one at all.

The 3 best discs ever are...

DX Teebird (172-75)
1st Run Z Buzzz (177+)
Soft Wizard (175)

I never thought a mid-range could be better than a DX Roc...I was wrong. 1st run Z Buzzzes are the best discs ever made. I'm glad I got 2 max weight mint ones sittin in my closet as backups. Hell if I'm gonna pay 50 dollars for a disc.

DX Teebird. Still the only driver I've ever thrown that can hold a mid-range like dead straight line forever. The best driver I have ever thrown.

Wizard. Putters are all about preference. My preference is a Soft Wizard. The only way I will ever stop putting with Wizards is if Gateway goes under. Well, maybe not. I would buy 100 to last me forever.

Aug 01 2005, 11:21 PM
well, I am extremely new to the game, but I have done well with a certain 149g tie-dyed disc I got from from someone for my birthday last month, though I forgot what kind she said it was, and I always drive with it. Aviar putt and approach 171g...and I use a stingray sometimes too that's probably in the 160+ range...maybe 170, who knows since it's not visible on the back anymore. A friend recommended the Valkyrie 150g class and I just bought one and got it in the mail today...149g Champion and I can't wait to meet with the girls tomorrow and try it out! WOOHOO!

I choose to throw Innova plastic.

If you throw Gateway , Discraft , Lightning , DGA , Ching , Destiny Discs , Aerobee ,Whamo, Humphrey Flyer , Quarter K , or even Latitude 64 () these still apply.

Choose the plastic to meet existing conditions.
Glow plastic during night time play.
Softer/Grippy material if really cold or raining.

It helps if all those three disc's being thrown are just stable.
This way you can either turn them all over or throw them with hyzer. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
