Beat Up Disc Donations Needed. In talking with the new manager of about 6 months at the Casa Lago Resort he says they have no discs to loan out to guests. The better relationship we have with the Resort the more it helps everyone.

Physco Mike and I worked from 9 until about 3 on Saturday. Mike brought his riding mower from Temple and mowed and mowed and mowed with me doing the same with a push mower. General Jeff and Charles Walker work a while also. With all the previous work last weekend by Joey Whitehead, Greg Hilhouse, Cware and myself the course is mowed wider and better than ever. Of course I played a round yesterday after mowing some more and still threw into the shic.
THANKS PHYSCO MIKE. You Da Man! :D

"Schedule: Friday May 28th HCF Flex Start Dubs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday May 29th Mandatory Players Meeting at 9:30 a.m.
All other times TBA"

But it also still says there is a temp 18 planned.

jpeacock
May 25 2004, 10:26 AM
Vinnie, I'll take some raffle tickets if I can use them as mulligan tickets. :grin
There is a silent auction planned for choice stuff.
From page one on this thread Mark said,

Another idea I had this morning should help a bit also. Every event has an Ace Pot. The Flying Solo Memorial will also have a "Chance Pot," so named for Solo's son. I'm going to ask that anyone who has prizes of any sort (dg merchandise or anything cool) get it together and donate it for the Chance Pot. What we'll do, is offer CTP throws for the prizes that we get donated. $5 will buy you three throws per person. Each person will only be able to count their closest and best throw. After everyone who wants to participate has thrown, the top five closest throwers will have their names put in a hat and drawn out for a share of our donated prizes. 100% of the money raised by this CTP game will be added to the total raised for Chance each year at this event. So, if you've got a stack of plastic that you can part with, gift certificates for hotels, meals, etc., shirts/hats, or anything that you think might be a fun prize (dg related or not) let's throw it in to the Chance Pot and get a lot of participation on that.

It would be fun to throw at 3 baskets like at the Ice Bowl.

Well, I tore yet another muscle in my back yesterday so it looks like I won't be able to play this weekend. :( Mark, what day is the silent auction being held? I'd like to make it out that day and volunteer to help if you need any.

If I didn't have an event to run I would make the trip. I have herd that it is a nice course. As for players from Austin, there were a few, Justin, Juda, James McCain, Mike O, Chris A, Turbo, Joel Kelly.....but no El Chile. When you do make it you will be glad you did.

May 27 2004, 10:27 AM
We'd love to have ya Brian, but good luck with your event this weekend. Next time you're in the area gimme a holla and I'll show you how to play Lago. :)

JP and Mitch are correct. 1431 is a very nice scenic drive. Enjoy it at a safe and legal rate of speed or you will regret it. Trust them, and me, on this.

Alright, I was out of town in Temple last night, but I'm back and on it this morning. I'm making updates to the players list as we type and moving some folks to different divisions and making ready a post to the event page on this site.

If you have not registered yet, please make my life easier and do it today on titleDISC before it closes this evening.

You can also come out to doubles tomorrow and if there are any spots left, some Saturday signups will be taken. No guarantees on how many or what time I will shut them down if we get close to full and I need the time to get ready. Please register today or tomorrow at doubles if you want to play. The exception to this are the people who I've already spoken to/emailed personally regarding other arrangements. If you ain't one of them, don't assume anything.

More later...STAY TUNED! :)

Mark & Chris: We talked about it last night, and Waterloo Disc Golf Club is in for $100 cash (hopefully you have already received the $100 of merch mailed last week). I'll send the check off today or tomorrow. Who should it be payable to: Chance Ware? Chance Ware Trust? other?

Good luck this weekend. Sorry I'm going to miss it (will be out of town), sounds like it will be a ton 'o fun. :D

Thanks Gordon and Waterloo. You guys are the best. Yes we got the stuff and its sweet. Thanks again.

Make the check payable to Luann Ware Patrick and put ACWEF in the memo line. You can send it to me to give to Chris, or I'm sure chris will post Luann's addy or email it to you if you'd rather.

Whew! After much wrangling with Sprint, my cell is FINALLY back on. :) And of course, it wasn't on for 30 minutes before I received the first call on it in over a week, and it was someone asking about the tournament. :)

If you have questions or concerns or you just want to call to wish me a happy belated 42nd B-day, holla at me at 830-385-9682. :)

Okay, I've got extra squid duty tonight, so I've been a bit busy (last day of school sleep over - yikes), but I am resolved to finish all my updates before going down for the night.

Which reminds me, Tonight is the last night for TITLEDISC! Please, I can't stress this enough. If you want to play, and you love me enough to make my life easier (and let's face it, who doesn't :D) register there tonight at titledisc.com before Mr. Poole (who is a great guy until he dons the confederate colors of that OTHER team), closes it down.

Post more in a while.

8:30am TEE OFF

The PDGA website calculates all the Par's etc. As far as I know I have no control over how the Par's are listed. The total score is all that matters anyway.

May 31 2004, 09:51 PM
Wow, what a weekend. I just got up from What A Nap! :)

I have many lists and a lot of info to get together to post for all the inquiring minds out in message board land, but I just wanted to get on here for a sec and say how grateful I am for all the support for the 1st Annual Tony Ware Flying Solo Memorial.

We raised an awesome amount of cash for Chance Ware's education fund, and we're not done yet. Ray asked a question a few posts back that made me want to say a little something about this fund. To answer it, I have no idea what we will be starting at next year for a total, because we can donate to this fund all year at any time. We have a few items from the silent auction that didn't receive enough attention, as they were not golf related. They will be heading to eBay this week and will raise a lot more for the fund. There is no way of telling what our starting point will be next year, since its bound to keep rolling, but it will be a very nice number.

A word about this event and our charity. There are a lot of great charities out there that receive support from disc golfers. So many, in fact, that I believe as a whole we are a very helpful group of people. Although in all these cases we make a difference and touch a lot of lives (especially in the case of the amazing work that Chris Himing and disc golfers in general do for the Lance Armstrong Foundation), but in this case, its very rewarding to know that we are personally touching the life of one of our own. Its a great feeling to know that when this young man goes off to college, it will be as a direct result of the love and support of players of this great sport from all over the country. Thank you all again, very much. I'd like to think that Tony is looking down on all of us with a big smile on his face.

Here's the link again for the results (and no, that's not a typo in Advanced Masters :D).

That would be one hell of a list to make. Donations in dollars and merchandise from all over the nation, everyone on the players list, Himing and company, Rocco, Cabo Loco, Metal, and many NSDG members doing course preparation that don't even play tournaments, and many many more.
During and after doing lots of course preparation I was wondering Why? I am getting too old for this shic. Well seeing all of the players competing and having a good time for a great charity that is why.
I thought the Resort was a championship type layout but it got spanked by some great golfers this weekend. :D

Also, I just got through figuring out the retail value of the 5 stacks of plastic we gave away (4 to the closest men and 1 to the closest lady) for the Chance Pot Throw Off from the 3rd deck of the Cabo Loco Bar. How does approximately $131 per winner and a total of $655 sound? Sounds pretty dam impressive to me!

DISC GOLFERS RULE!

You like apples?

Money added to Pro's and Am's, $655 in prizes given away in the Chance Pot and a $330 Ace Pot.

Total event value $4,509.00 - FOR A C-TIER!

How you like them apples?

:D

so next year this will be a B tier?

Do you want to pay a bigger entry fee and have money taken out of the payout? Was there anything wrong with this C-tier other than the fact that some people still mistakenly attach a stigma to that tier level because they don't understand that last year's B's and this years C's are virtually the same thing?

I'm not picking on you bro, I promise, its just that a lot of folks are under the mistaken impression that there's somehow something wrong with C-tiers or they in some way don't measure up to B-tiers.

A quick perusal of the new sanctioning agreement and terms might enlighten some folks.

I wonder how the event value of this C-tier matches up against some of the B-tiers in Texas that have taken place so far this year?

You might be surprised.

The event is for a charity and that is what it should be about.
Just having it PDGA santioned is pretty **** cool.
I had a follow up article printed in the local Lago Vista newspaper, the North Lake Travis Log about the Flying Solo, Tony Ware Memorial. I have posted it on the NSDG web site if anybody cares to read it.
It's at www.peakpureair.com/disc/tourney.htm#solo (http://www.peakpureair.com/disc/tourney.htm#solo)

Sorry I've been outta town all week and not on the boards much until today (off and on, but mostly off, with the slower AOL 'puter in Temple).

I'd like to let everyone know that when I got back into town today for the first time in a week, there was check for $100 in my mailbox from Waterloo Disc Golf Club made out to LuAnn for the Chance Fund.

WTG, guys. That's one of the reasons that Waterloo DGC is the bomb!

I'll get that to my sour friend C-dub at Lago on Sunday. ;)

Which reminds me, Great Gordo, when are we gonna see you out on the golf course? We'd love to have you at 1st Sunday if you can make it. :)
