Yo Shag, Best Shot Format will be in effect for both rounds of disc and ball.
At the bunker we will play the short tees on the front nine.
On the back nine we will play long tees on holes 11, 12, and 14. The rest will be standard tees.

... 1st let me preface this post by saying that everyone should be playing in the (2) minis tomorrow at Riverside ($300+ ace-pot) ... I , however , cannot & I'm in need of 2-4 volunteers at Haikey tomorrow (Sat.June12) from about 11:40am till ? ... no digging or "real work" required ... no great disc golf skill required ... just being a local "disc-golfer" and knowing a little about the Sport is all that's required ... Hanover Company is having their annual picnic and have asked the TDSA for our involvement ... I'm not sure if I'll be introducing our Sport to 20 people or 150 people , but I'm gonna give it my best ... just showing the basics , doin' a little demo , answering questions , etc. ... they might want to "compete" over a few holes ... whatever their needs (used discs , scorecards , info.) , I should have them covered ... just another "TDSA community service" type thing ... 2 , 3 , or 4 of you guys (or gals) wanna lend me a hand , e-mail me or call me at work today 280-6523 ... forest

jose
Jun 15 2004, 02:26 PM
I do not know the green fees. I was planning on riding. I used to walk when I was playing once a week just to keep the cost down but now that I only play 4 or 5 times a year I usually ride. I have a pull cart so if we have an odd number riding I can walk it.
I can't remember how much it is - the last time me and carl played - we spent around 30 each -
m_conners
Jun 15 2004, 03:02 PM
Weekday green fees are significantly cheaper than weekend. I believe you can play for around $30 which includes the cart. On weekends it is $40+ to play including cart.
I'm down for Thursday or Friday. Preferrably Thurs but i'm not set on it.
Right now for thursday we have myself, jose and jerry stacey. Anyone else interested in playing then?
Friday we have the possiblility of wayne forest and tom townsend, possibly naegle.

Hey guys I have a predicament, I cant make the riverside mini tonight. I am substituting for a friends softball team.
Listen this is what I need so let me know if you can help, we have a total of 14 teams registered for the B&G this weekend. I only secured 1 hour of tee times from Page Belcher which is 7 tee times. Page Belcher can send a max of 7 groups off in 1 hour.
Leroy Finning called me today and would like to enter a team into the tournament. I initially made the max amount of teams 14. Since we can't play 6somes at page I will need another team entered in order for Leroy's team to play. I called Page and they agreed to be flexible with one extra tee time.
I would like for Leroy to play but we need another team to make it an even numbered field. If anyone knows of a team who might be interested let me know TODAY!!! If you know 1 person who wants to play let me know also.

MC - Great job on getting this thing going. I know people have talked about it in the past but I am glad you got it rolling.
I have a couple of questions that I am sure you are going to address in your next post and they can wait until you post all that information.
1) Are the mulligans going to be just for the ball golf round like last time? How many and how much can we buy?
2) What are the rules about placing you ball on the playing surface when playing in a scramble format? How close to the original lie?
Can't wait for Saturday
For those who have not played The Bunker before, it is not that bad Mike has picked 18 fun holes and the city has done some really nice work in the park.
m_conners
Jun 17 2004, 12:55 PM
Thank Jose, I love to play both sports and I know there are others out there who do as well
I was thinking mulligans would be available for the ball golf round only -BUT- A few of the competing players have expressed interest in having mulligans available at The Bunker.
I was thinking $10 per team for Mulligans. Each player will get 5 mulligans at stone creek and 1 or max 2 mulligans at The Bunker. If you don't mind, I am going to have the players buy mulligans from you since the mulligan money is going to The Bunker Bash anyway...is this ok?? I don't mind doing it but I thought it might be easier this way, just let me know what you think.
As far as where to place your lie during the ball golf round. Once you decide who's shot you are going to take first thing you want to do is mark the shot you are going to take (i use a golf tee or ball marker). You then get 1 club length in any direction no closer to the hole. Just to clarify you cannot take 1 club length from out of bounds (water, fence etc.) to make a safe lie. Once it goes OB it's a penalty just like disc golf (better save those mulligans boys).
More info later today,
mc

The Mulligan Decision has been decided:
$10 per team gets each player 5 mulligans. Each player can choose to use a mulligan at ANY TIME during the day. This means if you choose to use all 5 of your mulligans at The Bunker you will have none left for Stone Creek. Strategy will be key here fellas.
FYI: All green fees and carts have been paid for...I look forward to seeing you guys this weekend, it's gonna be fun.

Hole # 3 / 12 -- Closest to the Pin -- $20
Hole # 4 -- Long Drive -- $10*
*There will be a flag marker on Hole #4's fairway which will signify the longest drive. There is no accuracy boundary for the distance drive...before marking your long drive, be sure to use the discretion of the 3 other players in your group to confirm your drive is longer than the previously marked drive.
Hole # 5 / 14 -- Closest to the Pin -- $10
Hole # 6 / 15 -- Longest Putt -- $10*
*The winner of the longest putt hole goes to whoever drains the longest shot on holes 6 or 15. Holes 6 and 15 WILL be combined for the longest putt hole. Whether it be a 40 footer, a 100 ft fairway shot or an ACE. The longest shot that lands in the basket gets the cash.
Hole #9 & #18 -- Longest Putt -- Sleeve of Titleist Golf Balls
*Same rules apply from holes #6 & #15
(Closest to the pin holes can be won from both tee boxes)
Page Belcher, Stone Creek Course -- Rules & Hole Guide for Prizes:
Rules: How to mark your lie during the ball golf round? Once you decide who's shot you are going to take first thing you want to do is mark the best shot taken(i use a golf tee or ball marker). You then get 1 club length in any direction no closer to the hole. Just to clarify, you cannot take 1 club length from out of bounds (water, fence etc.) to make a safe lie. Once it goes OB it's a penalty just like disc golf (better save those mulligans boys).
Eagle bounty on all par 4's and 5's: There will be a $20 bounty for any Eagle made
(An Eagle is 2 under par on any hole. for example: 2 on a par 4 -OR- if you score a 3 on a par 5.)
Hole #4 -- Closest to the Pin -- $10
Hole #9 -- Longest Putt Made -- $10
*The longest putt MUST be made from on the green...putts made from off the green do not count as a putt.
Hole #13 -- Closest to the Pin -- $20
Hole #14 -- Longest Drive -- $20
*Rules are simple, the longest accurate drive off the tee wins the cash. This means ALL ELIGIBLE DRIVES MUST BE IN THE FAIRWAY. If your drive is longer than the one marked but is not in the fairway DO NOT MARK IT. Get confirmation from another player (excluding your partner) that your drive is longer and in the fairway before replacing the long drive marker.
Hole #18 -- Longest Drive -- Premium Disc Golf Set
*Same rules apply from hole #14.

Sorry it took so long to post the scores guys, when I got home last night I was so tired I went directly to bed. I want to thank Jose Mendoza for printing out custom score cards and getting The Bunker ready for play (The Bunker is looking great by the way). I want to thank Julie for helping me with setting up payouts. I also want to thank all the players who showed up to play. We had a great group of guys out there yesterday, it was AWESOME!
The first round went well at Ray Brown Park the weather was perfect the entire round but we could hear a storm rumbling in the distance so we knew the rain was coming.
We had about an hour and a half between rounds and by the time we got to Page Belcher Golf Course the rain was POURING. After about a 45 minute delay we got started...the golf round was probably the longest round of my life, seemed like we were out there for 7 hours. But, when the rain clouds passed the weather turned absolutely gorgeous.
I want to thank all the guys who came out locally, I got the chance to meet some people I see at local tourneys but never got the chance to meet.
I want to thank the Arkansas boys for showing up, you guys rock. I already knew Aleksey, great guy. But I got the chance to meet a really cool pair of dudes, Fish and Heath Whitley. Thanks for coming guys and thx for bringing down the Old Milwaukee from Arkansas, that is too funny!
Ok fellas here are the scores:
Jose Mendoza/Dale Patterson 42 74 116 $90
Steve Naegle/Mike Conners 46 74 120 $30
Dave Wise/Aleksey Bubis 43 77 120 $30
Tom Townsend/Lee "Shaggy" Killian 44 76 120 $30
Heath Whitley/Fish 44 77 121
James Patton/Jeff Welsh 44 78 122
Aaron Swygert/Carl Butts 50 74 124
Mike Nobels/Brian Dolezal 43 84 127
Keith Conners/Jeff Paul 53 75 128
Chris Wagle/Howard Dine 45 84 129 $40
Rob Davis-Leaf/Ken Montalbano 50 81 131 $20

Wayne Forest/Mike Click 47 95 142

The Bunker and Stone Creek were in great shape.
The funniest thing I heard was Bagmaster needling Cupcakes

he didn't take the bet but he didn't hit it in the fairway either.
I am really shocked we pulled off a 74 in ball golf.

Looking forward to BNG #3.
But please no more 6.5 hour ball golf rounds,

I had a blast, even if it was the longest round of golf I have ever played in my life. It was amazing that the three way tie for second was decided on the last hole of the day.
The fact that the teams were so close to each other kept the competition level up there to the very end.

Mike - Great Job!!!
I will not miss one of these events. I got rained on watching the other groups tee off on Hole 1 but by the time we teed off there was no rain.
The funniest thing I saw this weekend was on Hole 18 Patton and Welsh on their second shot were down the hill to the right about 60 feet behind a medium-sized tree. Welsh steps up and hit a burner that hit the tree about three feet off the groud and rolls 20 feet straight up the tree and then vaults 100 feet behind us all. Patton steps up and proceeds to hit the tree about 15 feet off the ground and it shoots his ball about 100 feet backwards. It was the last hole and it was FUNNY!
Dale and I played good golf all day. I think the main difference was that we never both had a terrible shot at the same time. If one of us had a bad shot then other one picked it up.
I hope everyone enjoyed The Bunker and I would love to hear opinions on the course. I do not plan on changing anything for this weekend except smoothing out a couple tee boxes, lowering hole 3 a little and raising hole 7 a little.

Thanks again Mike, you the man.
that round was the longest of my life as well....i am glad the course was slow or we would have been pissing some people off....wait...i think Jose got yelled at once by one guy on hole 5 but that was a good laugh for us standing on the tee....this guy yelled..."hey it's not the us open!" everyone behind us finished nine but the entire back side was to ourselves the entire time. schwaggies was a putting fool! he drained 4 clutch LONG putts on the front nine alone...MONEY! jeff and i will be at the next one. my advice is ONE mulligan for golf and ONE mulligan for disc golf per person...that will speed things up on the ball golf course

I don't think the # of mulligans was the factor for the slow-play issue ... to the contrary , I think ... think about it : if a players sends his shot out of the easily-spotted fairway into an un-seen lie of rough , trees , possible-water , etc. ; the xtra 20-40 seconds to re-tee or shoot a "mulligan shot" takes a lot less time than the "searching" for an unseen ball you may have to use ... I think the rainy weather was a large factor ... umbrellas over the clubs , rain gear , etc. ... this also caused (understandably) the "cart-path only" rule for 2/3 of the round : I guarantee ya , we could have walked the 18-holes quicker ... merely an observation ... I still had a great time

I can tell you one thing for sure...the next B&G will have the ball golf round in the morning and the disc golf round in the afternoon.
One thing that will change the most for the ball golf will be the mulligan factor and max score per hole. More details coming soon...

What a great time Saturday was.
Never played in a competitive ball golf event like this before, it was tough. Even tougher when the team, well who are we kidding here it was all MC, you are losing to is playing lights out.
I kept telling Tom if he doesn't slip up we we're screwed. Thank god conners couldn't play perfect the whole back nine with no mully's left, although he came pretty **** close. Tom and I, as well as Dave and Alexsi got great pars on the last two tough par 4's to tie them up. My partner came up clutch calling his tigger woods slice within 25 feet from about 230 yards out with a 3 wood. It was a great finish, with MC and Nagale barely missing a 15 footer to beat us at the end, and sealing the 3 way tie for 2nd.
It was a fun round, but oh was the shiat talking in full effect. Neither team was wanting to lose. Especially my poor [*****] who couldn't afford to lose all the side bets made.
Anyway good job Mike it was a great time playing with you guys, though i'll never make another side bet with you involving golf clubs. I still can't believe we shot what we shot.
I was honestly figuring we had a shot at the B-pool title. I guess every dog has his day.

Sorry Wayne. I wasn't there but I'm sure there was some that took muligans and still took the time to look for their lost ball anyway. I would not have had to worry about that because as bad as I play, I would carry anywhere from 50-60 special balls in my bag. :D Some people call them "Range" balls because the colored stripe is supposed to give them extra distance. ... the same does not hold true for "disc golf" , where players with boocoo mulligans will lead to slow-play and longer rounds ... but the dynamic differs in "ball-golf" where instead of 200-400 ft.shots with a big plastic disc ; you get 600-1100 ft. shots with a little white ball ...
.
also , the disc golfer won't leave his xtra shots on the course ... a lot of $ value to pick up all your scattered golf discs ... during ball golf rounds , if the ball isn't clearly visible right away : leave it go (not that much $ value) ...

one other little example was at the 1st B & G at Li'l Links ... it also was rainy ... we were walking with our carts ... we (most of us) didn't know the course or the layout ... unfamiliar with ball-golf or format (next time much quicker, I think) ... still , playing 4-somes with all individual shots up to and into the hole could have lasted a lot longer than it did , but most players had 12 mulligans each (that was 48 per group) and this sped things along ... it seemed like our pace slowed when the mulligans ran out ...

I would have to disagree with your opinion.
Yes, mulligans take the time of hitting another shot, but the opposite would be for the player to take the time to look for a possible lost ball and determine where his ball last went out of play or you would have to wait on the player (Forest) to hit all eight of his shots down the fairway and wait on all five of his putts.
I think that the difference in saving time between having mulligans and not having them to be minimal. You have to also consider that we were playing cart path only which as you know can be slower than walking. The biggest factor would be for the groups to speed up their play or we could have a volunteer marshall of our own to nudge them along.
I heard someone talking about a sign they had seen somewhere that is very appropriate towards our problems this weekend. It reads:
"You should be directly behind the group in front of you, not in front of the group behind you."
:D

you make some good points there Wise ... sometimes I think your last name might be descriptive ... NAH ... since when do I hit eight shots in the fairway ?

all day ?
mulligans from anywhere not on the green take longer because of the circumstance. there are times where you go and check to find your ball is in the water and you have to drive back and re-tee or re-hit. both of the teams in our group did it and i saw other groups do it....the time factor is not so bad when you are using putts on the green. i like MC's idea for the next basket and greens...sounds fun :D

After the first 2 B&G's experience I know what to expect when running a tournament, this is gonna be FUN!

Baskets & Fishing
There's an idea that's kind of absurd but absolutely hilarious. I would love to see the weigh-in.
Wayne's fish would be smoking a Backwoods stogie stick.
Wise's fish would be ... still in the lake.
Big Dave's fish would be nothing but bones and scales and already on the grill.
and Boobs' would have a baby tennis racket glued to its fin.

Just so everyone knows, Wayne Forest presented the idea of implementing Bowling into our Baskets Tournament Program, thanks Wayne :D:D:DThis will be a solo event, no dubs for this one unless I hear interest from you guys to do so. I'm pricing different Bowling allys now, but I'm leaning towards McClure and the Rose Bowl.

It would be sweet to have two outside events.Old man winter is just around the corner and we'll have plenty of time for inside events.Dude baskets and croquet (dubs).Or we all could wear speed-os and play volley ball
