I can't wait to see how good Woodley is going to be this year. Towards the end of last season he was sure looking strong. Hoping Sweed makes a difference for Big Ben. Just hope our secondary has it's problems fixed.

I haven't even really been keeping up with the Black and Gold with the Pens on the run they were on. Have they signed any of thier rookies yet?

Flacco washed out of Pitt, not Penn State. He couldn't beat out QB Tyler Palko for the starting job. (who was marginal at best in college, went undrafted, and briefly spent time as the 3rd-string QB of the Saints before being cut)

Flacco's career at Delaware was stellar however, even if it was against I-AA competition. And despite being a Steelers fan and sworn enemy of the Ravens, I drafted Flacco in three fantasy football dynasty leagues as my QB of the future. With his size and arm strength, I envision him as the next Ben Roethlisberger.

dude, you know I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, even if I live in Bangladesh or some crap, miss a Stiller game or root for anyone besides them... however, I do have the ability to look at things subjectively. Our secondary is suspect at best and Donovan is looking like his prime self. Waxing the Brownies and then hanging the whole game with the most potent offense in football. It's not looking good KP.

on the other hand, maybe the Stillers will run the ball early and control the clock. That is all I can see helping us on Sunday.

If we are asking the why questions...Why didn't they change Big Ben's drops. Seemed like when he did take a 2 or 3 step drop he could hit the quick slant or curl....but then they would go right back to a 5 step drop and get sacked again.

The D did look good. Hopefully Ben's hand isn't to bad. Maybe this whoopin will wake them up and get things going right for next week vs. the Ravens.

Worst thing is this game just had to follow Dallas beating Philly...now I get to hear all about how the Cowgirls are better because they beat Philly and we didn't....and how they are the greatest all week. :(

I never heard anything official...but just from the looks of it, he tried to pull it back at the last second and it was to late(probably some to do with his hand injury from Philly)....so he sent out a lame duck. I agree that was a huge momentum killer. I bet if that hadn't of happened the game would not have ben anywhere near as close.

Hopefully they can get through this week with a W, and get healthy for the bUNgles at home....they always seem to give the Steelers trouble at home for some reason.

None of the Ravens make excuses. If their offense scores a TD at any point of the game instead of 3 field goals, or their defense doesn't allow a 90 YARD DRIVE at the end of the game, then any questionable referee calls don't matter.

Additionally, according to the NFL Digest of Rules:

A receiver is deemed to be in possession of a catch when both feet touch down in bounds while the receiver demonstrates control of the football. Should a receiver make a legal catch of the ball with both feet in bounds in the end zone, a touchdown shall be awarded even if no part of the ball was deemed to break the plane of the goal line while in possession of the receiving player.

Was really too close to call?? YUP!
While I don't really care either way, there was not indisputable evidence, IMHO, to overturn the NO-TD call on the field. Steelers should have had the ball on the 2-3" line and THEN had to have made the decision on whether to go for the win or kick the game tying FG.
Had the REF's called it a TD, then I don't think there was indisputable evidence to overturn the call...and Steelers get the TD.

I didn't not know this rule until yesterday.....and I have already had to explain it to those( mainly cowboy fans) that work for me today.(that were giving me a hard time about it).

While I agree there was nothing that showed with out a doubt the ball crossed the line, you could easily see he had 2 feet down. By the rule above, there should be no arguments on the subject.

Besides even if it was a bad call(which it wasn't), it's not like the Steelers haven't had their share of bad calls go the other way.

All that really matters is.......

I could say the same thing of you, but won't!

From the same NFL Digest you quoted from:

Touchdown: When any part of the ball, legally in possession of a player inbounds, breaks the plane of the opponents goal line, provided it is not a touchback.

It just didn't make sense to me to over turn the call on the field with THIS rule in mind. That's all. The rule you quoted seems to contradict this one and vice versa. I don't care enough to get personal about it though!

If the implication is that the referees somehow favor the Steelers, check this out:

From: http://www.postgazette.com/pg/08355/936498-66.stm

The Steelers have not seen an opponent called for offensive holding since the fourth quarter of the Nov. 3 game against the Washington Redskins, when left tackle Chris Samuels was penalized for holding Harrison.

That's six games -- 24 quarters -- without a holding penalty against the best pass-rush team in the AFC.

well, the STEALERS certainly had the refs on their side a few SuperBowls back when Seattle kicked their butts all over the field all day in everything but the final score. what a sad day that was for the perennial battle of the $how vs. the Game...

if Arizona can play D like they did against Dallas earlier this year they will win. Big Ben is tough and had a lot of crucial breaks go his way in the AFC championship, but if Arizona's pass rush can hassle him all day, Warner & company will triumph. Go Arizona! :D

Texas Judge gives 7 year old right to decide custody.

Dallas, TX, December 31, 2008

A seven year old boy was at the center of a county courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy had a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Dallas Cowboys, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

You are correct Mr. Warlocks00, it is always Steelers season here in da burg. Only when another Pittsburgh sports team is in the playoffs does steelers season stop. Good thing for us that only happens with the Pens!

Make no sense at all that she would wait a full year before doing anything about it. The story sounds kind of fishy to me.....

A lady tried to accuse Bettis of this a few years ago as well, she figured out she wasn't going to win so she dropped the charges.

Again I'll point out the Bettis deal a few years ago.....there are all kinds of people out there that will do and/or say anything to try and get rich quick.

Your smear campaign against your team's archrival QB is about as lame as it gets. Ray Lewis is a villian too (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/7300688), but you don't see me crowing me about it. I'd rather focus on the results on the field, which in the last two years, speak for itself.

realITY aside, your schedule is easiest on paper based on last year's records. Quit living in the past. Some teams get better, and some teams get worse.

I don't wager with disc golfers anymore...McCoy, Tyson, Schwebeger, and MTL are the only REAL gamblers as far as I'm concerned. Not only do 24 players owe me from winning fantasy football 2 years in a row, Frederick Doot jacked me too.

I can't believe I missed this...No, LT is not in danger of losing his job to Sproles, Bennett, or Johnson. He will carry the rock 300+ times and easily put up 1,200 yards and 10 td's. Willie Parker on the other hand is in danger of losing his job. Sounds like Mewelde will surpass Mendenhall and Parker on the depth chart.

I was just telling a buddy of mine that very thing this morning. He had sent me an email telling me that he had drafted Willie....my reply was, "you better pick up Moore cause I can see him taking Willie's job this year". I've always like Moore, even when he was in Minn., then when I heard he was coming to SteelTown, I was very happy....as he is a very versitile back. Willie is a 1 dimensional back, if he can get to the corner he's gone, but not good at catching, and really not that good at running between the tackles. Especially with our run blocking this year. .

And I was more joking with you about LT losing his job....Sproles is Ok and all, but he's no LT. But then again no one is......

how about joe flacco? 300+ yds passing, 3 tds, at least 2 completions to 7 different players. joe cool is the real deal. ray rice very quietly ran for 107 yds and willy mcgahee looked somewhat dominant on his carries as well. heap had a big game too! granted it was against the chefs.

md21954

we all know you are genuinely worried about the ravens' D with good reason.

there were a few wrinkles to be worked out (not nearly as many as the men in yellow) but the D played pretty solid. all teams are dangerous on opening weekend, even the chefs.

despite what the score may lead you to believe, the ravens held the chefs to under 200 yds total offense. 1 chefs td was scored off of a blocked punt, another was set up on a 70 yd interception return off of a bobbled pass (joey flacco made the tackle at the 5).

you can doubt the ravens' D all you want. we know it's simply just fear of the legendary 'play like a raven' defense. ask big bennifer who he fears the most. the greatest D of all time ('00 ravens) gave up 36 pts to jacksonville in week 2 but won the game with 39 pts. they went on to set records and win the super bowl. mind you that was the only defense in super bowl history to not allow pts.

haloti ngata'nother yard, t-sizzle, ray ray, trevor pryce and ed reed will lead this D to dominance ONCE AGAIN!

terrible towels are yellow for a reason.
