I miss the drive out to Dexter to play 48 or 96 or 120 holes of golf in a day. (The 120 was 2 rounds original long, one orgininal short and one of each on Monster. We had a small discgolfathon and raised about $400 for the A2 J&B Festival. I remember Ben Calhoun, Phil Perkins, and Dischick? being there.)

Sounds like good times. Do they still have the Three Course Challenge? I got my only pro win (division of 1) playing Stony Creek, Riverbends, Firefighters. Not as many holes as the 120, but way more exhausting.

Actually the 3-course was just last weekend.

101 works pretty well. We get there at 7 or so, and we are out by 10pm. The park rangers kick us out at 10pm, and I think the park opens at 6, so there isn't much more time for golf.

Nice pic...though this was my first year to play the Capitol of Texas Open (COTO), and I am not that experienced...still learning. In an amazing feat, with my ROGUE Proline Driver I almost O.B.'d this hole because I hit the edge of the bike path BEHIND THE BASKET (slightly visible in the pic at the center/leftside of the pic in the foilage area), TWICE in the tourney! My only blessing was that it favored back rolling/deflecting in by the angle of the path O.B. or the wind...who knows.
I only know this because, when I arrived, the line judge, who saw me do this BOTH times; SMILED, grinning about the good luck!
~FYI~
If you are not familiar with this hole, it is #11 placed at the 332ft marker that is up a hill, past a row of trees/bushes, across a creek/river, in the tall trees, surrounded by all woods.

To finish: I actually got the BIRDIE ONCE through all of the jungle surrounding me!

WOW where is that?

Aspen, CO - highest disc golf course in the world, and home of the "Kiss the Sky" tournament. Definitely one to make if you've got the time and $$ to travel to CO for a weekend, just for the fun of watching a putter go 1200 feet :D

From the course directory:
Description: Mountain top terrain at 11,212'. On ski trails, with one 1,500' hole; a bad throw and your disc is gone! Lift ticket/$15. Tremendous scenery. Basically open from May to Oct. Confirm with contact.

Yep!!! the mountain ones are from Kiss the Sky, but there is also a couple from Snowbowl in AZ (I'm in mid-throw with purple wild flowers everywhere), one from Fountain Hills in AZ at Dusk, and one or two from Circle R the MEadows course in Austin

and one from Pueblo (the basket on the brick walls) and De La Veaga

This is my favorite course of all time....private up in mountain outside of Fort Collins CO. The property is sold and baskets pulled but we still have this!!!!!!!!!!1

I am real impressed with the video skills on that. I wish all disc golf footage would look that good. It is great to see the thrower, a zoom to the location of the target and then follow the shot.

My boy Chad Johnson of Parsec films filmed most of it and did all the music and editing...I'm blow away with how good it came out.

i was thinking photoshop... you'd just have to have a tripod... take 5 pics of the person driving w/ the same disc and splice them together right? (and yeah, I know it wouldnt be just that easy)

thinking of trying to go out in a field and see if I can replicate tomorrow... of course i'll try w/ a thumber though ;) Only thing is my camera kinda sucks so I'd imagine I cant get the motion to show that clear

i am pretty sure stack it is a photo grab of a video sequence or a photo seqeunce layerd on the same photo. they do this in snowboarding magazines all the time

Thanks Chris. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I've been offline for a couple days. That link that Chris posted roughly describes the process. Basically, I setup the camera on a tripod and take between 5 and 8 shots of someone's drive (my camera will take a little over 4 frames per second. After I get the film developed I scan it, and then take it into Macromedia Fireworks (similar to PS). In Fireworks I cut out the bodies carefully and layer them accordingly. Because all the shots are done with a tripod they have identical backgrounds so lining things up is easy.

That's pretty much it. I've done this about 10 times and I'm getting a bit better at it every time I do it. Takes 1-2 hours to "photoshop" everything together.

That was why I started doing it. Fixing a form flaw is so much easier once you actually see yourself messing up. And then seeing your improvement is a great motivator. The still photos like these aren't as good as video, but it still helps quite a bit.

Everyone needs to play the DLDGC (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=125) . the end. make a weekend out of it and play Moraine State Park (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=126) and Knob Hill (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=124) as well. You will then have played three of the best courses anywhere all within 25ish miles of eachother!

The DGC at Deer Lakes Park is the newest 18-hole course in the Pittsburgh area. The par-66 layout incorporates a wide variety of hole design with lots of elevation change that includes both open and wooded fairways. The layout consists of three par 5s, six par 4s and nine par 3s. All eighteen holes utilize the "green center" concept with three pin placements to provide a nice variety of shot difficulty and will help with erosion control. In addition, each hole has three sets of tees (red, white and blue) with signs for <u>every</u> tee. Eventually, 54 concrete tee pads will be installed to complete this world class course. Did I forget to mention the two Mach III putting greens? :)
