Position Title: Full Stack Software Engineer

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to the promotion and sustainable growth of disc golf, sanctioned close to 5,000 tournaments in 2019. The PDGA is headquartered in Appling, Georgia, and serves as the international governing body for the sport of disc golf. The PDGA seeks a skilled, full stack web application software engineer who loves the sport of disc golf to help design and develop the next generation of web based mobile and desktop applications for event directors, competitors, and fans of disc golf around the globe. You will be joining a passionate, solution-oriented, results-driven, and highly motivated team who lives, eats and breathes, “Grow the game.” 

Reports to: Director of Technology

Position Responsibilities

  • Developing front end architecture.
  • Designing user interactions on web pages.
  • Developing back end website applications.
  • Creating servers and databases for functionality.
  • Ensuring cross-platform optimization for mobile devices.
  • Ensuring responsiveness of applications.
  • Working alongside graphic designers for web design features.
  • Seeing through a project from conception to finished product.
  • Designing and developing APIs.
  • Meeting both technical and consumer needs.
  • Staying abreast of developments in web applications and programming languages.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, React, Angular or Ember.
  • Proficiency with server-side languages such as PHP, Python or Ruby.
  • Experience with Laravel or other web frameworks.
  • Proficiency with relational database technology such as MySQL.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Interact professionally with staff, members, volunteers, fans.
  • Effective conflict resolution with diplomacy and kindness.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications

  • Passion for disc golf.
  • Degree in Computer Science.
  • Understanding of user interaction and user experience design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of SEO, website management/optimization reporting and analytics tools.
  • Experience with Drupal.
  • Interest and/or experience in statistics.

  • Position is open to local and remote candidates.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings if needed.
  • Aptitude and desire to learn new skills and technology.
