Thomas Gilbert leads the way in MPO with a 1037-rated nine-under opening round. Gilbert punctuated his round with an eagle two on the par-four eighteenth hole.

Five eagles were carded in the MPO division, two of them by Roni Rönkkönen. His first came on hole two, where almost everyone was laying up. Rönkkönen threw a huge turnover onto the green and made a six-meter putt for the eagle two. Three eagles came on hole 18, which is an absolutely reachable par four, despite the out-of-bounds surrounding the fairway and green. Fireworks are sure to continue to fly on the dynamic finishing hole where players can go for that eagle if needed as a last-ditch effort in their round.

On the FPO side, a duo of Estonians lead the charge. Kristi Unt and Eleri Pastak both began separating themselves from the field as Unt opened her tournament with a 953-rated two under while Pastak’s tournament kicked off with a 930-rated even par. They are followed by Jarmila Havirova from Prague, Czech Republic, who sits at four over after one round.
