Buhr, Saarinen, Brooks, Lehtomäki take 2025 honors

It's not an easy task to consistently turn in top finishes week-in and week-out at PDGA events of any size — Majors, Elite Series, A or B-Tiers — in today's professional world.
But these players did just that.
Introducing the PDGA Players and Rookies of the Year for 2025:

Undisputed.
Gannon Buhr’s follow up to his record-setting 2024 season was equally as impressive in 2025, where he added the sport’s top prize to his resume.
Highlighted by his first PDGA World Championship win this summer in Finland, Buhr turned in another dominant season to claim the PDGA MPO Player of the Year crown for the second-straight season.
The No. 1 player in the Official Disc Golf World Rankings since July 2024, Buhr added five more wins on the Disc Golf Pro Tour Elite Series in 2025 as well as his fourth PDGA Major title in Finland.

Buhr finished on the podium 13 times in 21 DGPT events, never missed the top 20 and had an average event rating of 1057.
In September, Buhr matched Paul McBeth’s record rating of 1062 and finished the season with a 1059 player rating.
Buhr becomes this 10th multi-time winner of the PDGA MPO Player of the Year honor and is the seventh player to earn that distinction in back-to-back years.
Anthony Barela finished second in the MPO Player of the Year race just ahead of Calvin Heimburg in third place.

Silva Saarinen is rising.
Quickly.
Consistency was the name of the game for the Finnish star in 2025. Saarinen took down her first PDGA Major title at the 2025 European Disc Golf Festival in Estonia with a clutch finish down the stretch and added three Elite Series titles to her year.
Saarinen had 11 podium finishes on the year, missed the top 10 just once in 24 events and averaged a 3.9 placement, all with a 987-rating average on the Elite Series to become the first player from Finland to win PDGA Player of the Year honors.
In the Official Disc Golf World Rankings, Saarinen rose from sixth place to start the 2025 season and finished ranked No. 2 in the world. She’s closed the gap in the ODGWR to just 10 points behind Kristin Lätt, who shut down her season for the year this summer.
The 2025 Finnish National Champion, Saarinen led FPO in C2 putting on the year with a 27.95% clip.
Holyn Handley finished second in the standings, 29 points behind Saarinen. Ohn Scoggins, the 2025 FPO and FP40 PDGA World Champion, finished third.

In the closest race for the 2025 PDGA player awards, the MPO Rookie of the Year came down to the wire.
And ended with history.
At 15-years-old, two-time Junior Worlds champion Landon Brooks took down the 2025 MPO Rookie of the Year honor, becoming the youngest player in PDGA history to do so, narrowly edging Logan Plake for the title.

The Maine native hit the road in 2025, competing in 15 A-Tiers as well as two stops on the DGPT Elite Series. Brooks had three wins in 32 events and was in contention in nearly half of those events with 15 podium finishes.
Brooks joins 2024 PDGA Rookie of the Year Miles Sayer as back-to-back winners hailing from the state of Maine.
Plake finished second, just under nine points behind Brooks. Kyle Krieckhaus finished third in the standings.

Iida Lehtomäki’s introduction to the disc golf world came on the biggest stage the sport has ever seen.
The 16-year-old rising Finnish star was on the first card out at the 2025 PDGA Professional World Championship this past summer and was among the last two players standing at the end of the historic event. After leading much of the way throughout Worlds, Lehtomäki finished second to Ohn Scoggins after a playoff was needed to determine the PDGA World Champion.
Two weeks before, Lehtomäki finished 12th at the European Disc Golf Festival. She added three more Top 10 finishes on the DGPT Europe Elite Series in 2025.
She becomes the first player from Europe to win the PDGA FPO Rookie of the Year title and just the second overall player from Europe (Oscar Stenfelt - Sweden - 20210) to claim the top rookie honor.
Lehtomäki finished 19th in the ODGWR in 2025 after starting the season at 114th.
Canada’s Rebecca Don burst onto the scene in 2025 as well, finishing second in the ROY race with three top 10 finishes on the DGPT, including top-5s at Ledgestone and the Discmania Challenge. Don jumped from 173rd in the ODGWR to No. 31 at the end of the year.
Chandler Reigh finished third in the standings.
