The 39th Annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic, Oct 15-16, 2016, will be returning to the historic Hancock Golf Course in Austin! Hancock is the small, beautiful 9-hole ball golf course located at E. 41st and Red River, and was the very first golf course in Austin (and first one west of the Mississippi). It is just a mile or two north of our beloved Waterloo Park, and the same creek runs through it that runs through Waterloo (Waller Creek).

Austin�s original disc golf tournament makes a return engagement at Austin�s original ball golf course. We will have two 18-hole courses again this year, so a maximum of 180 players. Last year we filled up and had a waiting list. The reviews were great and it is going to be awesome again this year!

The tournament will again benefit the Austin Ronald McDonald House (RMH); last year�s donation to RMH was $9,400, and the tournament�s grand total over the years is now $107,943.

We have said for many years now that regular registration for the annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic tournament usually starts EITHER when we get to about 1 � months out (around the beginning of September) OR when we get � full with Father Dave McC-Note Challengers. Some years it has been the former, other years it has been the latter.

We aren�t to the half-way full point quite yet but we are getting close, so consider this your last-chance-notice to get your McC-Note in to save your spot before regular registration opens up for the 39th Annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic, Oct 15-16, 2016, at Hancock Golf Course in Austin, TX. Once we do open up registration, those spots go fast. Even though there will be around 90 available, they still usually sell out within 5 � 10 days.

To reserve your spot by taking the Father Dave McC-Note Challenge: send the Waterloo Club a check or money order for $100 now. Send it, payable to WDGC, to: WDGC, PO Box 33531, Austin, TX 78764. Please include your full name, email and/or phone number, division, and pdga number (if you have one).

You can also bring your payment and info to give to Gordon in person at League at Zilker on Thursday evenings. If paying in person, you can also pay with cash (please do NOT mail cash).

Below in the next couple of posts are the full details of the �Challenge� as well as the people who have already reserved a spot in this year�s tournament.

Also� while the subject line says �McC-Note Last Chance�, it is still okay to be a McC-Noter even after regular registration has opened up. Lots of people do that every year. It no longer has the benefit of saving a spot but it does help raise money for the charity, it does get you the �McC-Note Goodie� in your player�s package, and we do have CTPs during the tournament for McC-Note Challengers only. Plenty of good reasons to do it anyway.

Here are the details of how to reserve your spot by taking the Father Dave McC-Note Challenge: send the Waterloo Club a check or money order for $100 now. Your spot in the tournament is guaranteed. When fees for the different divisions are set, we will deduct from your $100: your entry fee; ace pot; ring-of-fire; and non-active pdga fee (if applicable).

All the money left goes directly to the charity. For the past three years at Hancock, we have averaged 106 McC-Noters, which added an average of $3,000 each year to the total charitable donation! You will also receive a special �McC-Note Goodie� in your player�s package.

To clarify something that comes up occasionally: this money saves �your� spot, not �a� spot. Once the tournament fills up and there is a waitlist, if you have to cancel you can�t just give your spot to someone else. As with any cancellation, the spot goes to the next person on the waitlist. If you do have to cancel, you will receive a refund of everything except what would have gone to the charity (and that money will still be added to the donation).

Registration for the 39th Annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic is now open! The flyer doesn�t really translate well to a post like this, but if you want a copy emailed to you, just send me an email at gordo @ discgordo.com or waterloodgc @ gmail.com.

We will try to get the flyer and the entry form posted as google documents or something similar that can be accessed by a link. In the meantime, we have copied the text version of the entry form in the next post below.

You must either mail in your entry, with payment, or bring it to Zilker on Thursday evenings to give to me (Gordon). Postmark or the date I receive it in my hand will determine your date of entry. If there will be a Thursday when I can�t make it to Zilker, then I�ll designate the person who is running the mini/league that night to take them. Otherwise they need to come to me, not to someone else to give to me. Sorry, but no online registration and no electronic payment is available.

FOR TOMORROW NIGHT (Thursday, August 18th), I will be at Zilker Park for a little while to collect tournament entries even though league has been cancelled. I will be there from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, either by the hole #1 teebox or in the parking lot by #1 if it is raining (in which case look for my blue Toyota Sienna mini van).

We have about 90 Father Dave McC-Note Challengers right now (half-full), so that leaves about 90 spaces available. But don�t wait, the tournament usually fills up within 5 � 10 days; mail your entry in ASAP to secure your spot in this fun, awesome tournament.

Also, even though registration is now open, you can still take the Father Dave McC-Note Challenge. It no longer has the benefit of saving your spot, but you will still be helping out the charity plus you�ll get a cool McC-Note goodie in your player�s pack and you�ll have an extra CTP each round that is for McC-Noters only. Every year a number of people do this, you can be one of them this year.

Hosted by Waterloo Disc Golf Club, this is a PDGA �C� tier event at the historic Hancock Golf Course at E. 41st & Red River, just north of downtown Austin. All Singles players MUST check in at Tournament HQ either Friday between 3:00 � 7:00 pm or Saturday between 7:30 � 8:30 am. Anyone not checked in by 8:30 am Saturday morning will be dropped and the spot filled with someone from the waitlist.

Doubles will be on Friday; Bring your own partner, $13 per person (includes $5 greens fee for the round); flex start tee off begins at 11:00 am and continues until around 4:45 pm. Play either course, or get there early and play them both.

I have uploaded the first set of names to the PDGA tournament page. IMPORTANT NOTE: These are only the players who are currently confirmed as in the event. They sent their entries ON or BEFORE Wednesday Aug. 24th and they were in the PO Box by yesterday, Friday Aug. 26th (the last time I checked the box).

If you mailed your entry on Wednesday or before and your name is not on the list, please let me know so I can keep an eye out for it.

If you mailed your entry on Thursday, it either arrived on Friday or today or isn't here yet. It should arrive by Tuesday Aug 30th at the latest.

The player list for 39th Waterloo on the pdga site has been updated. It now includes all the confirmed players: those who entered ON OR BEFORE Thursday, Aug. 25th. I have sent out confirmation emails to all of these players. If you are on this list and did NOT get a confirmation email, get in touch with me RIGHT AWAY (but go check your email account first!).

Also, be sure to check that your division and pdga number are correct. It is very important that your division is correct because it may not be possible to change it later.

I have sent out all of the confirmations for the people who made it in except for a few that don't have email; and except for the last few players. I need to wait another few days to sure there are no more �slow envelopes� that just haven�t arrived yet before I can confirm the last few.

IF YOU SENT IN YOUR ENTRY ON OR BEFORE THURSDAY AUG. 25TH OR ENTERED IN PERSON ON THURSDAY NIGHT AUG. 25TH AT LEAGUE, BUT HAVE NOT GOTTEN A CONFIRMATION EMAIL THEN I NEED YOU TO CONTACT ME RIGHT AWAY AND LET ME KNOW. (but go check your email account first!)

Otherwise, the only thing you have to do is be there Saturday morning at tourney HQ when check-in closes at 8:30 am. Tournament HQ is by the Golf Course Pro Shop. If anyone drops out at the last minute or hasn't checked in, we'll drop them and fill their spot with someone from the waitlist.

If you are on the waitlist, don't despair. Even if you are far down on the list, there is always hope. Some years we get a number of cancellations and/or no-shows; and a couple of times we had everyone on the list who chose to show up Saturday morning actually make it in. However, to be fair in expectations, we have had other years where not many folks (or none) have cancelled and so not many on the waitlist made it in.

Just a heads-up that Waterloo's Fall League Finale is THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING at Zilker (Friday, Nov. 4th, 3:30-5:30 flex start time). It was postponed until today because of all the rain at Zilker yesterday. We will have our merchandise set up by 5:30 or 6:00 pm so we can pay out anything still owed from this year's Waterloo DG Classic, including raffle, silent action, and CTP prizes, and/or from other Club events from the last two years (leagues, minis, Ice Bowls, raffles, etc).
