Some important times and information for Waterloo this weekend.
CARPOOL! CARPOOL!! CARPOOL!!!
We only have about 20 spots left in the tournament, and that will be reduced by whatever is in the PO Box today and tomorrow entries that were mailed over the weekend.
Also, as it gets close to full, we may have situations where we have room in some divisions but not others. Right now, everything is open, but it could get more limited as we fill up.
FINAL CHANCE FOR PRE-REGISTRATION:
At this late date, there are only 2 ways to get pre-registered by Wednesday (the end of pre-registration).
1) Fedex/UPS your entry information and payment TODAY for NEXT DAY DELIVERY so that it arrives to me on Wednesday. Fedex/UPS wont deliver to PO Boxes but if you contact me today I will give you my work address and you can send it to me there. Replying to this email (
[email protected]) and calling the club cell phone (512-994-9508) are the best ways to contact me until early this evening. After about 6:30 pm, dont try to email (as I wont see it until wed.morning), just call the phone number.
2) one final, last minute in person opportunity has arisen: Wednesday evening, 7 8 pm (and maybe a bit later), we will be having our staff work night at Mark McCrimmons office downtown: 704 W 9th St, Austin, TX 78701.
You can bring it to me there (or have a friend bring it for you), but you may have to pitch in some while you are there
However, please note that waiting until Wednesday night to bring it puts you in line behind people who have already mailed it this past weekend, and those who will be overnighting it today.
If you cant overnight it today or come by in person tomorrow evening, then the final chance to register for the tournament is Friday at the course, starting at 11 am (see below).
FRIDAY:
CARPOOL! CARPOOL!! CARPOOL!!!
Late Registration and Check-In begins at 11 am.
IF there are still spots available, you can sign up starting at 11 am. If there are not, we can put you on the waitlist and youll need to be at HQ Saturday morning at 8:30 am sharp to see if you cleared the waitlist.
If you are already pre-registered, please check-in between 11 am and 7 pm. The more players we can check-in on Friday, the better Saturday morning will go. To encourage early check-in, we will have an extra players pack goodie for everyone who checks-in on Friday. ALL singles players must check-in on Friday between 11 am 7pm OR on Saturday morning between 7:30 8:30 am.
Doubles will start when we get both courses completely up and confirmed and are ready to start signing teams up. We hope this will be as early as 10 am, but it could be a bit later, hopefully 11 am at the very latest.
Entry fee is $13 per person (which includes $5 in greens fee for the round, and $1 to the fundraising). There is an option $2 per person ace pot. Ace pot will be split evenly among all aces. If no aces, the money goes to the fundraising.
Most teams just pay when they show up (the pre-payment we put on the form is only for convenience). The main thing is being there early enough to play. The closer it gets to 4:30 5:00 pm, the less chance there is of playing (even if a team has pre-paid) because we have to stop teeing teams off about 4:30 5:00 so that they can finish before dark. That means even if you show up before the cutoff time but there are a bunch of other teams ahead of you waiting to tee off, you may not be able to play because you wouldnt be able to start in time.
We will have both courses available for double competition, but with one small exception. All 18 holes of the Kelly Course will be playable in doubles, but only 16 holes of the Olse Course will be playable (due to the use later in the day of the small soccer/football field in the far NE corner of the property).
Both the competition and the ace pots during doubles will be course specific. So all the pro teams that play the Olse Course are competing against the other pro teams that play the Olse Course. All the ace pot entries for the Olse Course are separate from the ace pot entries of the Kelly Course.
We will have all the usual divisions for doubles: rec, int, adv, pro, plus all the master ones; and well have a mixed division (mixed division pays out in merchandise). Sign up where you want to play. If we only have 1 team in a division, well have to switch it over to another. Example: if we only have 1 Rec team the whole day, we would have to move them into Intermediate when doing the results.
You can play one course, you can play both, you can play one course more than once.
* If you play the same course more than once and you dont switch partners, then only your best score counts (just like many of the flex-start minis around town).
* If you play the same course more than once and you switch partners, then you also have to switch divisions.
*If you play one course and then later play the other, you can keep the same partner and the same division.
Like a golf course, the $5 greens fees are per round (not for the whole day); so it is $13 per person each time you play doubles.
Results will be posted as soon as possible on Saturday (probably early afternoon). Awards for doubles can be picked up after that or anytime on Sunday the 17th. Leave contact info when signing up if you wont be around the rest of the weekend. Show up early for the best chance to play, dont wait until late in the afternoon and take the risk of being turned away. Cards will be limited to 2 teams to keep things flowing smoothly.
SATURDAY:
CARPOOL! CARPOOL!! CARPOOL!!!
Late Registration and Check-In is from 7:30 8:30 am.
If you did not check-in on Friday, you HAVE to check in on Saturday morning between 7:30 am 8:30 am. Anyone not checked in by 8:30 am on Saturday will be dropped from the tournament and the spot will be filled by someone on the waitlist. The tournament is too popular, too fun, and usually has too big a waitlist to let a spot go unclaimed. If you are on the waitlist, you must be at tourney HQ at 8:30 am on Saturday. If your name is called and you arent there, we go to the next person on the list.
Please try to check in on Friday, as it will make Saturday morning go much more smoothly if we dont have as many people to run through the process.
Everyone playing the main tournament will receive a players package (but if you check-in on Friday, you get an extra goodie).
Players Meeting starts at 9:00 am. You absolutely need to be there for the meeting and you need to pay close attention. With 180 people and 2 courses, there will be a lot to cover, and confusion could cost you a lot of strokes if you end up on the wrong course or on the wrong hole!
We will start Round 1 just after the meeting, hopefully by 9:45 am.
All the rest of the times for the day will be TBA: 1 hour for lunch, Juniors 1st round, Ring of Fire, Round 2, close out of Saturdays silent auction
SUNDAY:
CARPOOL! CARPOOL!! CARPOOL!!!
Round 3 tees off at 8:30 am. There is no meeting, you must be on your designated hole and ready to play by 8:30 am. Give yourself plenty of time to park, walk in, find your hole assignment, and get out on the course.
All the rest of the times for the day will be TBA: 1 hour for lunch, Juniors 2nd round, Tayloe Toe Throw, Round 4, close out of Sundays silent auction, awards
The word of the year for parking at Waterloo is, you guessed it CARPOOL!!!
Parking is going to be very tight at Hancock Golf Course. They dont have much to begin with, plus we will have a LOT of people coming to the course.
Expect to have to park in the neighborhood and walk to the course. The more people who carpool, the better for everyone!
It will be worst on Friday, Oct 18th. Not only will there be a lot of players for doubles, but the Rec Center on sight is having their Fall Festival that day and expecting a lot of people for that. If they get too many, those folks will also be competing for parking in the neighborhood.
Saturday morning will be rough too as the rec center is open and has programs running.
There will be NO disc golf parking inside Hancock all day on Friday and on Saturday morning (except for a few staff vehicles).
It should be a bit better Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday because the rec center will be closed at those times, so there will be some spots available inside the course.
But still, there just isnt much parking onsite to begin with on Sat. afternoon and Sunday, so most people will still have to park and walk.
CARPOOL!!! And please help spread the word this week. We need everyone to be aware of the issue and to ride together as much as possible.
ALSO: please do not litter by your car or on your way to/from the course. If you are parked in front of, or across the street from, someones home, please dont hang out being loud or drunk/toasted by your car.
Be respectful! Most of this area is a neighborhood not some business district downtown like at Waterloo Park.
With so much parking being done in the neighborhoods, we need to make sure we dont give the neighbors reasons to fight against us ever coming back to Hancock.
Thanks for reading all the way through this LONG, LONG message! This is going to be an incredible Waterloo DG Classic, and we are glad so many people are going to be a part of it!!!
