I just can't understand why the fields can't have an equal number of players when they are available. To take 40 adv. players, 40 int. players, and only 15 open players makes no sence to me. It makes sence if the TD is trying to make the most money possible.

Did the Open players get told there would be 32 spots for them?
Did they have til "X" day to sign up or they would lose their spot?
Or the most likely and real question - did they signup when it went on sale if they wanted to play?
Most likely it is option 3 as except for about 5% of the 1000+ Events every year that hold spots for Open players or are Open player only - Open players don't sign up for Events and so when the Event has a limited amount of players to take the TD (if smart) will take the first 72/90/108, etc. players that sign up no matter what division they are as those are the players that WANT TO play their Event - if you don't want to play, or you think because you are an open player that you should be treated godlike, and get to play no matter what, you'll find yourself making these kinds of posts or whining to your friends alot.
It boils down to simple supply and demand rules, if you want to play, sign up when it goes on sale, have a buddy sign you up when it goes on sale, give the TD CASH before it goes on sale, etc. - otherwise if you end up SOL, you have no one to blame but yourself.

So which tournament did you get shut out of because you dragged your *** about registering? Boo hoo.
Like Keith said, 95% of tournaments set up registration as first-come, first-served with no reserved places for any division. If you aren't on the ball and don't register in a timely manner, you take the chance of getting shut-out...or having your division dwarfed by a more populated one.
Of all the tournaments I've ever seen that had reserved spots for any division, it's almost always the Pro divisions that gets the special treatment. Open division spots get held for a period of time, but the rest are always first-come first-served. So if you're an MA1, you better get on the ball and register before the limited spots run out, but if you're an Open player, take advantage of the special treatment and push it to the deadline, no rush.
A TD's goal first and foremost is to fill. Period. Doesn't matter who or where they play, as long as every spot on the course is filled. If a TD was solely in it to make money off the ams, why invite the pros at all? In your example, if the TD is in it for money, why waste those 15 spots on pros at all?

Heck, why stop with the Open players? Let's be truly equal and reserve the same number of spots for each possible division. That should be, oh, about 3 players per division.

Cool. I thought I was going to have to wait till I qualifed for Senior Advanced Legends Masters Whatever division to reach the lead card.
Either that, or go ahead with the operation.
