You must have upgraded to iOS 6. Unfortunately, that was not a good move at this time. Apple ditched Google Maps for their own map app they bought. They took a step backwards when they did this.

Is there going to be an update to the PDGA app that addresses this issue?

Hi
I've been using the iPhone app for a few months now and I can say it's my go-to app for keeping score! I am a former Android user and had a sweet app called Easy Scorecard Pro. It had a few features that I would love to see implemented on yours.

Players - when creating a new player, have a field for their email address (or better yet, pull it from your contacts if available). If they're PDGA, it would be great if you could just enter their number and have their info pulled from your online PDGA player database.

Scores - after the round, if you choose to send the scorecard, you already have their email addressed entered (from suggestion above), so you don't have to do it again. Easy Scorecard Pro also sent a nice html version of your round that was easier to use than what your app currently sends. I've attached a sample scorecard.

Courses - i've seen a few suggestions for course updating, so I look forward to those, like renaming holes, multiple layouts, etc.

Keep up the great work and I look forward to using this app for years to come. If you need any iPhone beta testers down the road, I would be interested. Thank you.

colonel, thanks for the feedback and suggestions. We are getting close to finishing up the Android app. Your suggestions have been added to our future feature list. We are all very excited to finish up the Android and getting back to adding cool new features to both apps in parallel. ;)

Hi JenniferB, I am working on getting the 'directions to course' working in the new native maps application. You should expect to see an update to the app store in the next couple of weeks which addresses this issue along with some other minor bug fixes.

Expect to see new feature implementations once we finally launch the Android version of the app.

Thanks for the reply. I look forward to getting this feature back because it is the best part if the app, and while there are other scorecard apps, there's nothing else out there that I know if that provides this feature.

I know Mike replied in general to your post, but I wanted to add a few specific comments.

Hi
Players - when creating a new player, have a field for their email address (or better yet, pull it from your contacts if available). If they're PDGA, it would be great if you could just enter their number and have their info pulled from your online PDGA player database.

I like the idea of adding the field for the other player's email addresses, but we can't auto-fill it from the PDGA database. I'm sure you understand that that would be a significant privacy issue, as it would allow anyone to easily be able to get any other member's email address. In our current climate of privacy and security concerns, that wouldn't be considered a good thing!

Scores - after the round, if you choose to send the scorecard, you already have their email addressed entered (from suggestion above), so you don't have to do it again. Easy Scorecard Pro also sent a nice html version of your round that was easier to use than what your app currently sends. I've attached a sample scorecard.

We're working on the scorecard representation in HTML for the Android version. We'll continue to improve the scorecard, and we'll incorporate the upgraded version sent via email.

Courses - i've seen a few suggestions for course updating, so I look forward to those, like renaming holes, multiple layouts, etc.

Upgrading the functionality of the course directory, including adding support for multiple layouts, partial rounds, etc. is at the top of our priority list!

Keep up the great work and I look forward to using this app for years to come. If you need any iPhone beta testers down the road, I would be interested. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the great feedback! We're working to get an Android version out, so we can keep that platform in sync with the iPhone. After that, we have lots of great plans for feature enhancements.

A lot of people agree. However, we will be updating the app to use the native directions, rather than using the downgraded links to the web mobile version that Apple provided as a default in the new version.

I use this app everytime I play. I like it. It could be a bit more accurate I guess. That doesn't affect me much, I can always find a course. I would like it to average all my rounds so I can keep my own running rating...
Thanks though!

When will the app stop assuming every hole is a par three?

I played Moraine yesterday and shot 70, which is +4 but the app (as it always does) reports it at as +16. I'm not sure if the round ratings are correct either (I know they're just really rough estimates to begin with).

You can modify the par and distance for every hole yourself. Just click on the Edit Hole Info button in the lower right hand corner of the scoring screen.

Will there be any feature updates for iPhone version? SO far it seems that only bug fixes were deployed and even those way behind they were reported by users .. Still waiting for anything that will show that PDGA is not US only

Pretty sure they are only working to complete the Android version for release to the same feature set as the current iOS version before adding/fixing features for either version.

Would it be possible to have the temporary courses, along with pars, added to the course directory for Amateur Worlds 2013? As I am reading it, there would just be 4 courses added, Red and Blue for both Emporia Country Club and Municipal Golf Courses. This would also serve in the future for the Glass Blown Open.

That is a good idea. I have contacted Jeremy Kindy and will work with him to list the temp courses at the Worlds as you suggest. Once we have those listed, they will show up in the PDGA App. Thanks, Cliff Towne, PDGA Course Directory

There is some weirdness with the courses listed within the PDGA App. I downloaded the courses and can see the same information posted in the course directory EXCEPT it is in the wrong order. For example, the link above lists the Municipal Course as having 4 Holes Under 300, 4 Holes 300-400, and 10 Holes Over 400 ft. In the PDGA App, the same course is listed as having 4 Holes under 300, 10 holes 300-400 Ft. and 4 holes over 400. Also the Pars are incorrect within the App as every hole is listed as a Par 3.

I appreciate the effort, truly I do, but it seems the App is not reading the course directory correctly.

Sorry, folks. Limited resources and competing priorities mean a slow road for the Android app. It's close. Functionally, we're complete. It really just needs some spit and polish work.

The iPhone app will be updated to fill the larger iPhone 5 display on or around the time we launch the updated website which will hopefully be in the next few weeks. That's the #1 priority right now.

How do we get courses added to the PDGA database (for use within the app)?

For example, I'd like to add Oil City DGC: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=4645.

Annoying little bug. I had recorded rounds at a course in the PDGA database. Since those rounds were played, the course has changed from an 18-hole layout to a 20-hole layout. I could not use the saved course option for a new round as the app cached the course as an 18-hole course. I searched the PDGA database for the course, it showed up correctly as a 20-hole course. Even though I picked the course that way, when I went to choose a starting hole, it only gave me 18 (essentially using the prior saved info on the course). The only way to get the app to use the new 20-hole information was to delete the old course (and all of the associated rounds).

Easy way to test it without having to update the PDGA database.
Create a course locally that has the same name as a course in the PDGA database. Give it a number of holes different than with is in the database. Start a round with it. Now pick the course from the PDGA database to start a round. It will use the local version of the course rather than the one from the PDGA database.

Suggestion.
Easy Scorecard for the android phone has many cool features that the PDGA app needs
It tracks players scores by hole over multiple rounds so you can see your improvements
Better sharing features. The stats by player and course are very nice. You can also ale custom course set ups to reflect different tees, and onus when the Pdga database doesn't have that particular setup.
Worth a look
