I would like to propose a new tradition at tournaments. During the players meeting I think it would be a nice touch for the TD to recognize by name current and former would champions at least in the pro divisions at NT / A tier events. Nothing to say the TD couldn't recognize the current Am World or National champ if they had moved up for the event as well. Perhaps this could also grow to include 1000 rated players for smaller events.
I think this would be good for a couple of reasons, recognition for player's success as a result of a lot of hard work and to introduce them to all the players who may not know who they are, especially in the Rec/Intermediate divisions.
Maybe this is already done at events because I only go to regional events but if not, what does the community think?

I remember when I first became familiar with the touring pros at events as being pretty monumental for me and my friends. Thanks for mentioning this and guys or gals if you read this post mention it to the TD that is speaking at the next players meeting you attend.
Very cool!

The top players generally get acknowledged during the awards ceremony when they collect their winnings and trophies! ;)

We've recognized Hall-of-Famers in attendance before.

Interesting topic....not what I thought it was initially.....I had just sent this off after the NT here in KC to ask for this information to be shared in a BIO for all NT winners, Majors, etc. When we do tee-times here in KC some people know the history of the players. But when Kenny comes up to tee, it's be nice to have a quick stat sheet to say, 12x World Champion, 150 straight top 10 finishes, with a total earnings of X. I would like to have this information available for all the players so that we announce them to a galley of people they may want to take note that even though Ken Climo is on the 3rd card, with a history like that, I want to see what this guy does.
I try to get location, where they call home, and then I did call out people that sponsored the event, but in afterthought, having this information should be done in advance so that this information is toggled when I look at the tee times from the PDGA with the BIO ready to go at a click, and I could have the information to inform the public.
Since we did tee times on Sat/Sun, it would have been great.
Its something that is needed in our sport, and every event that passes means playing catch-up to get the information instead of simply adding on to the existing list.
This should be for all World Champs, AM/PRO, Mixed, Doubles.....

if it was a real LAZY effort, make it so that all touring pro's have to provide this information initially, those with "world champion" next to their name, need not do the work (that would need to be done by our tireless PDGA staff).......then if there is not any information on the person, well......its on them for not doing their homework on themselves....
