We need your help promoting our sport. It's getting old having the same 5-10 people do everything for the last 20 years. Step up and help us spread the word about disc golf in the Burgh.
On May 21, 2011 The Pittsburgh Flying Disc Society will be partnering with the Venture Outdoors Festival to demonstrate disc golf at Point State Park. We are looking for some volunteers to come by for an hour or more, less is fine too, to help us show the people of Pittsburgh what disc golf is all about. We could really use your help with this event. This will be a great way for us to show disc golf to the city and is a great event for you to come out and experience the other great things that Pittsburgh has to offer. There will be free Kayaking, fishing, rock climbing, yoga, etc etc etc. Please come help out and show this city how much you love disc golf. As of now, Mark Prestopnik, Lori Merriman and myself have committed to being at this event. We will be bringing a few portable baskets and a bunch of discs for people to use. Please reply to this email if you think that you might be able to help us. We would really appreciate it. It seems we always have the same 5-10 people doing everything and it would be nice to have a few new and old faces at this event. Below is the email that was sent to us asking us to participate.
Thanks,

The Venture Outdoors Festival runs from 11-6. (we'll have to set up maybe at 10 or 10:15.) There's free kayaking, fishing, rock climbing, biking, yoga, dragon boating, capoeira....They've been doing this for years now and always draw huge crowds. It takes place right at the point, at Point State Park. Our group is having two shifts of volunteers--7 hours is a long time to table. Here's the link: http://www.ventureoutdoors.org/vofest.aspx
If you are unable to find participants on your end, would we be able to borrow/rent a portable basket and man it ourselves? Or you could have someone bring it and we'd take it back, or vice versa, if you can't find several volunteers. Just let me know--we'll pick up or drop off or whatever we have to.
Also, I'm glad you checked out our website and Marcellus information. Seems like half of what we do now is Marcellus related. Do you have further questions about our Athletes United for Healthy Air campaign, or can I put your group down as supporting it?
