This has become one of my favorite tournaments of the year. Not 100% sure I can go this year though.

This is a great tourney though, if you're on the fence about it, just play it once and you'll see what I'm talking about. It shows you how good the Live Oak/San Antonio disc golf community is!

By popular demand...we have changed the layout this year. Here is the plan:

On Saturday, half the field will play Universal City while the other half plays Live Oak "City Lake" blended layout.

On Sunday, Live Oak will be split into the traditional Lake and City Hall courses. Everyone will play Live Oak Sunday.

Four rounds, four different layouts. More variety should make things more interesting. Plus everyone will be together on Sunday.

Should be a lot of fun!!

FYI, I'll be running a USDGC qualifier event at Live Oak July 2nd weekend. This will be a non-sanctioned event. I'm planning to use the City Lake layout mentioned about. The winner of the event will get the 2011 Texas State USDGC spot. It will be a flex start mini, times still TBD (most likely all day). Cost is $15 the first round, $10 each round thereafter. Play as many times as you like. 50% of entry goes to the added cash for the Fly Ink Open. The other 50% will be the payout for this event. Top score gets the 2011 Texas State USDGC spot. This event isn't specifically affiliated with LOSO, but will be a great opportunity to come down and play the course. More details to follow.

Once again this year the Amateur Players Packages will be paid for by sponsors. So 100% of Am entry fees will go to payout. Most tournaments deduct $15-$20 of your entry to cover the players pack. For the past two years, we have been able to cover this so we don't deduct anything.

And for the Pros, we will have AT LEAST $500 added cash. Probably more.

Sponsors on Board so far:

Spa D'Sante
Cavender Audi
Cavender Toyota
Cootey's Kitchen and Tavern
Peanut Gallery
Rackem Stackem BBQ

Get your entry in! You do not want to miss this tournament!!

ATTENTION!!!!!

The Layouts have been tweaked, and the ISLAND HOLE makes its RETURN to LOSO.

Universal City - No change, 1-18

Live Oak "City Lake" Saturday:
1,4*,6,7,8,9,10,14,15,16,17,22,23,24,25,26,27,28

Live Oak Lake Sunday:
1,4*,6,7,8,9,10,11,11A,11B,11C,12,14,15,15A,15B,15 C,28

Live Oak City Hall Sunday (no change)
16,17,17A,17B,18,19,20,21,22,23,23A,23B,23C,23D,24 ,25,26,27

*Note: Hole 4 will be played backwards, not from 4's normal tee pad. It will be played as an island, as if surrounded by water on three sides. It should be called a peninsula hole, but we failed geography so we call it an island anyway.

Don't say you weren't warned.

Because of the large number of Pro and Advanced players, we have adjusted the flights so as to not cap those divisions.

Some divisions have been moved from Flight A to B. If your division has moved, the only thing that will change is the order in which you will play the courses.

Flight A
MPO
MPM
MA1

Flight B
FPO*
FPM*
FW1*
FW3
MG1*
MM1*
MA2
MA3

All will be explained at the players meeting.

Most of all I want to thank Jason "Ish" Smith and his wonderful wife Joni for putting my friends and me up for the weekend. You have wonderful children by the way.

I walked up to hole 24 on the City, shook the cooler could tell it was full, poured my gatorade out and tried to get water...Nothing. I took back all my praise for the group and started walking away. Decided I should go back and at least put some ice in my bottle. Low and Behold it is a cooler full of iced bottled water!! All Hail LOSO and the water bearers!

Please correct Nicole's name on the results page. Her last name is spelled caZareS not caSareZ. Thanks.

Nicole (SuperGirl) had a great time at this year's Live Oak tournament. I learned my lesson and will never try to go back to the hotel and checkout between rounds during lunch. Nicole was a little upset with me when we arrived late for the 4th round causing her to miss the first two holes. Nicole was in 2nd place after 3 rounds and had worked hard to build a 3 stroke lead over the player in 3rd place. Then she loses 8 stokes to her competitors in the 1st two holes by arriving late and taking 7's on two short birdie holes (par + 4 penalty stokes for missing a hole).

Although she was disappointed at arriving late for the 4th round, she told me that she still had a great time. She enjoyed the courses, the people, her playing partners, and said she is looking forward to next year's Live Oak tournament.

Rick

PS...Thanks for having water coolers on the course. That really was a big help.
