This year Matt Ryan will be running the TX HS DG Championships in Brownfield on May 14, 2011 (last year in May 2010, they were held in Levelland). The newly formed club, The Basket Bashers, and the City of Brownfield are really behind the event. This year the event is a PDGA sanctioned event...so you can sign up now. There will be much added cash and many prizes. Prizes and player packages will far surpass the small entry fee. Make the trek to Brownfield! Brownfield is about 40 miles SW of Lubbock.

So, if you are a high school student, know of a high school student, or think you might have a connection to a high school student, please pass the word on about the tourney. More info can be found at facebook - Texas High School Disc Golf Championship. The flyer has rules, formats (team and singles), and entry fees. There will be more postings and updates as the date approaches.

May 14th is the TX HS DG Championships (Saturday, two rounds of 18). The Bashers (Brownfield's DG Club) are having Friday night doubles for anyone who wants to play and test the course out. The City of Brownfield is really supporting this event in the way of many dollars and volunteers. Any HS student would be crazy not to partake in this event. Dooooo it! Sign up now at PDGA.com or sign up day of event. FYI - Last year's top scoring individual (Dillon - Lubbock) is returning to defend. Who else is out there? What teams will be coming?

Just bringing this one back to the top for the young guns out there! Wish this was around (and that I was playing) in high school!

We have several young guns planning to play....Dillon (defending champ from Lubbock) and Isaac (Plainview, recent tourney winner) come to mind. We're really hoping for some 'unknowns' to show up. Tonight (Friday) we had a course ribbon cutting, free food, and beginning of registration. I think there were around 20 signed up for the HS tourney so far. We played some doubles where about 27 played. More were coming for a second an likely a third round as well. The weather is great today and is looking to be the same tomorrow. High schoolers really need to come play. Remember, you don NOT have to have a full team to play. You can play as an individual. Entry is $15...player package includes a mini, dg stickers, a tee shirt, a raffle ticket, and a disc (good plastic). There is free food and drink. Trophies will be given to 1-3 placing teams. Medals will be given to top individual finishers. Also, Terry County trophies are to be given out as well. C'mon high school players!
