Seems like the search by last name feature is not really working properly or PDGA no longer allows any grace period for old registered players. I've been a member for a few years but I haven't registered for 2009 yet...was just going to. I searched for my name to see my current rating using my last name. Nothing was found. I searched using my PDGA # and it shows up. Is this a bug? What's up? I really need the Search By Last Name feature so I can lookup everyone's current PDGA rating for our local weekly and monthly tournaments. Help!

Rick, I think with the new systems in Drupal, that the ability of needing to have a grace period disappears, as it as alot more backend features than the old DOS based PDGA system had, negating the need for a longer grace period.
My Event on Valentine's Day '09 went from 100% PDGA members to about 15 players on Jan 2nd.
Look at it as an incentive to get players to sign up earlier to save themselves 10 bucks per Event, as before they could have played 10-12 Events playing every weekend before they signed up "for free" if they chose NOT to join during that calendar year and they could still post on the board.
Now not the case anymore, which is why I think more players are signing up earlier, even if they are complaining, because of these changes that eliminate the "free time" they've enjoyed in the past.
This is all purely my opinion based on calls and player responses to posts on this message board.

if you only need it for your local mini's, couldn't you just get the pdga #'s from the "regular" players and just make a spreadsheet to hold on to? and then just update the list as new players come in and update it quarterly when the new pdga ratings are released?

Hey thanks. I'm already doing this...but occasionally people sign up but forget to put their PDGA # so I would be unable to look them up now. Previously I could use their last name and usually I would find them. I would even find them if they were an old PDGA player, just not current. This was nice. It helped me convince some of the older players that stopped signing up to start signing up again so that I could use their PDGA ratings.

You can still do this, what else are you trying to do?

As of just a few days ago you couldn't. By your post I am guessing you can now but I cant get the website to load to try.

i think that current members who are logged in should be able to search and look up any players stats regardless if they are current or not. it would be a nice feature improvement. something to consider anyway

The problem with that is that how do you know it is the current member logging in. whats to stop someone who is not current from logging in as a current member to check their stats. i know its probably not going to happen much but still if a non current members stats are available then they could still have access to it without having to renew.

Probably the better thing to do would be to allow non-current members ratings from when they were last current to be visible. ie. If a player was last current for 2009. Then only their 2009 rating would be visible. Any updates that may have occurred since then would be hidden.

that would work as well.

lol. really? that would such a minor percentage that its completely negligible. plus Krupicka's idea above would solve your huge dilemma.
