Fly Ink bag tags will be here March 23rd.... these tags will be 20 dollars each and the top tag in Open and Am will earn a paid spot to the Fly Ink open.. There are 125 tags comming... Every penny gose to the FIO. I am also going to pay out the top 3 tags in each division in cash or prizes. I need to come up with a rule sheet for these tags.. I have a good start on it but would like any imput anyone might have. Let me know ASAP if you have any suggestions.

1) Each time you play on a card with someone who also has a bag tag, its an automatic challenge. There is no need to "challenge" the other person, its always implied.
2) If you have a bag tag it must be in your bag at all times.
3) There should be some periodic check in so people know where the numbers are.

during a tourney...everyone should throw their tags in. just because your not on the same card as someone doesnt mean you shouldnt get their tag. whether it be everyone in one pile or an Open division pile and an Adv division pile, either way if you won the tourney you should have the lowest number bag tag in your division when you leave.

#1- very nice! (but.. what about phone/ text or email challenges someone might get into before a round challenge?)
#2- what would be the course of action if someone doesn't have their tag? And if someone "lost" their tag and has to buy another one... then later on in the year they find their "lost" tag.... what happens then? Does that "lost" number get removed from the running?
#3- use Fly Ink's Facebook page.... have everyone post their challenges, wins or losses. Everyone needs to check in once a week to post who has what number...

I do not like this approach because ...
1) Players in the lower divisions will always lose thier tags to people in higher divisions (unless further divided by division which makes it even harder to manage)
2) Someone (usualy 2-3 people) will forget to reclaim their tag and then everything's all messed up
3) Creates a lot of unneeded head ache for TD
You're already playing against the field for score in the tourney, the Tag adds some card level flavor to play. This is good when everyone is sucking it up, at least you are still playing for tags.
Just my 12 cents.

Isn't that the point of having bag tags? The best player (or the one who playes the best on that certain day) should get the lowest tag. If they are to be seperated by division, there should be a #1 for both divisions. Not a seperate competition. I would even take it a step further and make it where everyone throws in their tags every mini and they are distributed according to score every mini. How can you consider yourself as the true #1 if you only beat your card and at most one other person? Especially in the format that Dave has come up with having cash and free entries at stake instead of pride. The prize should go to the "true" #1.

Having everyone play for the same tags (no divisions) during each event (league or tournament) sounds great on paper but it has to be a headache gathering all the tags before each event and then getting them ordered right and redistributing them after the event. That's time-consuming, some people will inevitably leave before the redistribution, and the TD will be stuck with a bag full of tags that he has to try to get to the right persons somehow. Plus, in tournaments, the different divisions often play different (easier) layouts. Who gets the tag when the intermediate player shoots even from the short tees and the advanced player shoots +1 from the long tees?
I think if you keep the challenges to the players on the card and any individual side challenges (card challenges resolved first), that whole redistribution of tags after events goes away and save the TD the headache. Over time, the lower tags are going to migrate to the consistently better players.
Maybe we can work up some year-end event with players seeded by tag # and the winner gets #1, the runner-up with #2, etc.

I agree. there will be a side challenge rule for people playing in other divisions. An open player may challenge a rec player or the other way around. I dont feel that it is the TDs responsibality to manage bag tags. It should be the players responsibility. Please dont judge me on my spelling!!!:o

Yes... What about those lost tags!!! I have played and one many rounds with players that lost there tag and those same players have found there tags latter win they have won a match.... Hmmm. Its simple. You are responsible for your tag and to have your tag on you "bag" at all times. If any player is reported that they lost a tag that player will be DQ'd from the prizes awarded at the end of the challenge.
If you loose a tag you can buy a new one but you will not be allegeable for prizes:(

I would like to disperse tags randomly... lotto style. All 125 tags are in a box and you draw a tag when you pay for it. This way #1 tag could be the last tag drawn. You can Buy or "play" as many times as you like but you must turn in your old tag first. Redraws are 10 dollars. If you loose a tag you may buy another for full price 20 dollars but you will be DQ'd from all prizes at the end of the challenge. No Player may have more than 1 tag.

I am excited about these, and for the most part, I like your lottery plan. However, unless 125 people show up to the initial drawing (which would rock, but I doubt will happen), the first drawing should be for the low numbered tags. That way everyone will know they are out there and ripe for the plucking. So, for example, if 30 people show up on Wednesday, I think the first 30 tags should go in a hat (we can use mine, it won't be that sweaty yet) and have a random draw from there. After that, the remaining tags can be distributed randomly per your idea.

Dear Davey Wimer,
Can you please start a bag tag thread and spread the news that it is an unwritten rule that Fly Ink tag holders should periodically update their tag status so that challenges can be made (run on sentence, not going to take the time to fix it). Corey recently won my good tag and I am hunting for new prey.
Sincerely,

I gave Dudney the Younger #15 on Sunday, I got #51 in return. I gave #51 to Alan last night, I got #73 in return (I have had it before). I then turned around, walked three feet, and handed #73 to RiX in return for #98. I hate this game.
