Despite the DGU registration showing that this event is full, I assure you that there are spots still available due to errors made by the event TD. The Charlotte Disc Golf Club is rectifying this at this time. If you are wanting to play this event and can actually pay for the registration, you have a chance to get in! It may benefit you as well to go through the CDGC website or contact Jenny directly at (704) 867-5309 instead of going through the listed TD contacts.

Don't miss playing an event on one of the best courses in NC!

Is this directed towards club members or anyone who wants to play? Because its a pretty common practice for a TD to allow someone who he knows will be playing to pay the day of.

Thanks Matt for identifying to the CDGC members that you don't support them! And clarify why Henry is scared because of this?

Josh, you are right that TD's can do all sorts of things. However, TD's of CDGC hosted events cannot. I hope that clarifies this for you.

And Matt, I am CHOOSING TO GROW THE SPORT by exerting physical labor to build all the new courses for 2012 Worlds in Charlotte, as well as help maintain the ones we already have. Spent four hours in the freezing rain yesterday clearing holes for Charlottes new to be gem, Idlewild Park! I consider that huge for the sport, as well as all the inner city Charlotte youths I have been teaching the sport to and providing discs to from my own personal finances.

What are you doing to grow the sport? I haven't seen you at a course in Charlotte helping out in years! Receiving a check to do work for a disc golf company may not necessarily be growing the sport more than growing a company, although I do throw EXCLUSIVELY Innova myself and appreciate what their company does to help out the CDGC sincerely.

Ask Henry directly. This controversy should not have happened if you ask me. The CDGC puts on awesome events, and in fact like 5 a week or more sometimes.

Im sure that CDGC put on good events. But as an outsider it seems that PDGA Sanctioned events seems to tire the CDGC apart. the first State Games I play in Charlotte was the best I ever played. great course Great TD. the second. I had planned to boycott due to the Controversy over that one. But most people assumed i was out due to my heart attack. It was the Controversy. every time guys! why? <O:p</O:pIf the issue is letting people sign up and pay later. and other clubs put that in across the board than I my days of playing PDGA events may be over. I don't know how I will feel in May.(other than the heart bad Ankles knees, kidney,) and I have had issues with refunds. that is out getting all my money back and /or in a timely manner. (not CDGC ). and in the times we are in most people should be able to see alot of us like to hold on to our money to the last minute.

The CDGC has always had membership privileges, and most likely always will. We are a very large club, but also need a very large club to take care of all the new and old courses we have and to pay for the needed materials to put these courses, pads, and baskets in. I will always support that certain privileges be allotted to club members here, especially if they are breaking their backs to grow the game of disc golf, and not just the sport of disc golf for a select few individuals or favorites.

Sorry for any bad taste you have in your mouth for cdgc run events. I agree that a lot of unnecessary conflict goes on which is mainly started on discussion board. We have 4 new TD's running C-tiers this year.
Like all new TD's they will make some mistakes, please be assured that we as a club will handle any problems internally. I do not feel that discussion board is the place to do so. Henry is the TD of Best at the Nest, so please contact him with any questions you may have. I am truly sorry if you have had any refund issues, I would like to invite you to give Charlotte another shot. If you have any issues money wise you are more than welcome to contact me personally. My contact info is on our web site under carolina clash on front page, which by the way I am running. If you can't get into Nest event sign up for clash.Registration is going on now & event is in March. There are things in life to bicker & squable about disc golf should not be one of them. It is a great sport which we all love, so have a great day & go play a round somewhere!

I thought it was the TD's discression on how and who gets in. I know that Charlotte has Tons of Courses and Lots of members and that thats great. BUT, if The TD wants to hold a spot for whoever it may be, he should have the right. if that person don't show, then its on the TD. So why not just have your own league, tour, players and rules while your at it in charlotte? just battle each other and forget anyone outside the area who wants to play there. some may not have the money to send out that far in advance, but would surely show. Is Henery the TD or is Charlotte disc golf? Thats really the question. I wanted to play this event, just found out I was dropped, its all good. but seems a little crappy that if Henery volunteered to TD this event and takes the time devoted to making it a great one, he should have some say on holding spots... so thatnk you Craig for eliminating me from your field of competitors. Keep it local, I"ll see you boys around outside "THE" club. Good on you henery for trying and stepping up for the cause. it takes alot to Run a tournament. I have never run one before but I have help TD's before. and even a few Charlotte Club events, when I could or if they needed it, so I know. so for all thoes that got booted by the "SS" from this event that henery may have wanted to see there, I am sorry, just as sorry for Henery, and more sorry for charlotte. and why make it sound like your gonna make Wyatt regret not wanting to play in a club event that has skunk all over it?
I may not know much but I do know a person is only as good as there word. you say what you mean and mean what you say. So.... if,... Kenny wanted to play or Barry, Charlotte Disc club wouldnt hold a spot for them either? because I know they aren't members of your club either.
anyways whatever. I will see you round craig and we will talk about this, but thanks again. I am also thankful there are other events to play that weekend as well, and I will be at the Freakin worlds with or without charlotte disc golf, with no if, ands or butt's. nothing personal but this wreak's of BS. Peace 2 my Peeps.

So MJ and Chris..........why should people that have the money and can guarantee that they will pay be shut out of ANY tournament because they are not a TD's friend and offered favoritism in signing up? Id really like to hear how you guys think this is growing the sport of disc golf. The same guys playing for each others money each week sounds more like a local poker game. Bash me if you want, but at least I am man enough to stick up for others and not just be selfish. Chris, if you paid when the registration went open, would you be shut out?

And like I said, I am willing to advocate for others, especially when they are discriminated. This doesn't seam to concern you or you would acknowledge that the registration was not done FAIRLY. And so what if I am vocal about it. If more people were instead of perpetuating the stagnant existence of the sport, you pro's would of had a consistent national tour by now. What is it that you guys really have now? It looks like a charity fund for five or six guys. Have fun with that.

i just want to know my selfish point!!! I never said you didnt have a valid point craig, which you do have, i just dont appreciate or better said agree with the way you go about making them

So the truth isn't reasonable? Really? Why was CLee dropped over the others that didn't pay?

If you are advocating that only favorites get in the tourney, which is what it sounded like, then that is selfish. So since you are saying that I have a valid point, do you think the registration for this tourney run by henry through the CDGC was done fairly?

michaeljo
Jan 31 2011, 11:03 PM
do i think it was done fairly or correctly, at first glance i would say no, but you know as well as i that alot of events registration isnt really that fair to all involved!
And you do have an amazing talent at twisting words and meanings around.
I just dont think this is the best forum for this, but you do have a knack for discussion board banter, i will give you that. When per se did i ever say the truth wasnt reasonable?

i said nothing about how spots are paid for or held for at an event. I just dont think you go about things in a reasonable manner!

And like I said, why is the truth NOT REASONABLE? Like I also said, we as a club can choose to perpetuate the stagnant nature of the sport of disc golf which currently serves a small select percentage of individuals (you are in this group) or we can choose not to. What do you think is better for the growth of the sport? Which is more prosperous to you? Choosing to make valid points to increase awareness and perpetuate change should not be perceived as unreasonable. Unreasonable is the cause of this argument.

But can you also answer why CLee got dumped before the many others that didn't pay?

michaeljo
Jan 31 2011, 11:12 PM

MJ, since it is obvious that sugar coating the same perpetual issues is getting the sport nowhere, I am always going to stick to being direct, honest and transparent. Where would the sport of disc golf be if the governing body for it was direct, honest and transparent? Would you be on tour? If those traits were adopted by the TD of this event, would CLee be in or out (persistence is also good!)?

if u want to go that way, i doubt that half the field would be in!! transparent, now theres a word that gets used and abused to often. If all things considered i doubt i would be on tour, it would suck my enjoyment of this game out and make me quit playing!

The analogy that I read in this is that you eating a little ceasars pizza with a 2 liter bottle of soda is as unhealthy as the politics in disc golf.

because nobody likes me in charlotte I guess!...lmao. Thank you MJ for your support and thoughts on this matter and also to all who have responded to me personally about the matter. Its all good, obviously there are still a few wrinkles being Ironed out as we speak.
As for the entry fee banter, I was asked if I wanted to play the event, same as a few others. I said yes. I can only think of 2 events in 14 years I said I would attend and then didnt due to finances. I think its great if you are set, and can send money off into the future. I personally (along with others) can not, that doesnt mean I dont want to play the event. it means I dont have the money to put up that far out. this a personal matter that I have to deal with, not the public. However, if a TD wants me to show up and play, I will, because I know that TD wants the best competition on the field he can provide. Henery just wanted to make it a great tournament. And unfortunately it would appear from my vantage point, the club has tryed to sabotage his efforts. I imagine without the club, this would still be an awsome event to play. but whatever... I am with MJ on this, a mountain was made of a mole hill. And I still think the TD should be able to hold a spot or spots for whoever they want as long as they show up. to better the field, to better the turn out, and to better the sport. Henery did no wrong, and I hold no one in charlotte in contempt. just think things were handled poorly. I thought I had friends out there, but I guess nobody like Cleetus in that part of the country....lol. Its ok, I love all you basket cases out there anyways, wether you all care or not. I would love to play, if I get in. if not, so be it. Peace to my Peeps and Bro's.

As we all wish for peace as well. things will unfold as they will. life is to short so lets just play. I meant no harm to charlottes club. I know all of you, you all are my friends. I just had my oppinion on the matter. and seeming how I was dropped, I was curious. it was not an attack. I think Charlotte is one of the most refined golfing experiences in the world. the most variety, from the most technical to the most touchy then tastey. the events are awsome, and the disc golf family there is electric with hospitality. THATS WHY I SAID YES...lol. because I did want to play. Its no measure on you craig or your club, just for the record. just an oppinion. sorry everyone. craig and charlotte disc golf club. I meant no harm. just wanted to play. my last post on the matter.
