I'd say about 20 minutes before it closes. :)

Not certain yet. We resolved some issues at Monday's club meeting, so expect the flyer---and announcement of registration time---to appear any time now.

David I thought you may know the info...keep us posted...can't wait!

Specifically, we voted to (1) not split the tournament into two weekends this year, which had been tentatively planned, (2) add two temporary holes to increase field to 100, and (3) see if DGU can split the online registration into two periods, so there'll be chances for people to register who can't be on a computer during the workday. All of this was sent on to the TD to prepare the flyer, and of course could change if circumstances warrant.

Chris and I ran into Ed yesterday and with him were looking at temporary hole possibilities.

More information, and corrections of previously-posted information, as it comes available.

I received word from Disc Golf U that we can in fact split registrations into two sessions; one in the am and one in the pm.

We would split the pro and advanced registrations slots in half (or in some other ratio to be decided), allowing a portion of the pro and a portion of the advanced slots to be filled. In the evening, the remaining pro and advanced slots would be available for registration. The advanced women slots would be available as well, but a decision will need to be made whether or not to split these 5 slots into an am and pm registration.

The basic idea is to reserve 30 pro slots and 65 advanced slots, with an additional 5 slots for the advanced women. The registration would be divided into two seasons to allow those without computer access during the day to have a chance at getting in. With the addition of the 10 slots (two additional holes) and the staggered registration, we felt it gave everyone a fairer chance to get in. At least that is the hope!

I always like the extra holes on the other side of the road from 16 and 17...Plenty of room for a couple extra holes there. Other than that there isn't much room in Earlewood unless after 9 you make a shorter hole beside the tennis courts but then that comes into play with the playground. I've retained the #2 tag at earlewood the past couple trips which is surprising. I did spot Scott W. 8 strokes yesterday b/c he was playing lefty and won by 14 so it wasn't a fair battle...I know I'll be ready when online Registration hits!!!!!!!!!!

Only 5 days away from February...Any info yet?

Registration Wednesday, February 9.

Sorry for the delay---we've been trying to work out issues with the Parks Dept. and confirm the details, at least as much as possible. I believe this entire post is accurate but no guarantees---keep checking here or, better, check with the T.D.

The plan is to split registration into two time slots; half the field to fill at 12:00, the balance at 7:30 that evening. This will allow those who can't be on their computer during the workday, fingers ready to pounce, to have a chance after work. Registration will be through discgolfu.com

We intend to add two temporary holes and allow 100 participants. With a lack of certainty, though, registration will be open to 95.

Spots will be allotted by division (a certain number available to each division).

Stay tuned; as I hear more I'll pass it along.

First 50 spots gone in under 3 minutes! I was on within 5 seconds of it opening, and STILL almost missed out as I fumbled to correct my billing address.

Gotta learn to type faster for future Earlewood Classics.

It's one of the toughest competitions in the disc golf world.

Not the tournament---getting in!

Half the field in just over 3 minutes!! You better be quick!

Looks like 19 Pro and 3 Advanced Women still open and 20 am's if the reserves were as had been discussed.

Gotta be quick to get in this. Who says Southerner's are slow??

Not sure what the story is on the reserved spots. I don't think they were specified at DGU (though I WAS rushing through!), other than to say some spots were reserved for Open and Advanced Women.

Ed had said he'd reserve specific numbers for each division, but I'm guessing that changed. I also understood that half of each division's spots would be available in the morning but, with 39 Ams registered, I'm not sure that worked.

At any rate, there should be plenty of Pro, or at least Open, spots available tonight---but maybe only 20-25 Ams.

Passing along updated info from the TD---

Coding problems, plus the incredible surge of registrants, overwhelmed DiscGolfU, with the following results

* They couldn't halt registration at 50, so 52 got in at noon.

* The limits on individual divisions didn't hold up. There are still general limits; 35 spots are reserved for all pro divisions, leaving 60 spots for all amateur divisions. (There was supposed to be a set-aside of 5 spots for Advanced Women, but that won't work, either).

* Do the math, and that leaves only 18 spots for all amateur divisions during tonight's session. There are 25 remaining spots for all pro divisions.

* It is believed that DiscGolfU will not create a waiting list for those who don't get in. If you don't get in, I suggest you contact the TD promptly to get on the waiting list.

If the Pro division doesn't fill its allotted 35 spots, remaining spots will be given to Ams on the waiting list. However, the exact timing of this hasn't been determined; almost certainly Pros will have a chance after today to fill those spots, but it may be closed as soon as Friday, or maybe later, but certainly in advance of the tournament.

(PROs---don't dally---sign up tonight!)

An additional 5 spots may be opened to those on the waiting list, at the point that we can confirm that we'll have 20 holes. (Construction at Earlewood is the issue).

So it's possible that 10-20 people on the waiting list will get in. No guarantees, though.

Awesome. That makes two of us that will be at the Mid-winter Games instead of the classic, but I'm not working. I'll be coaching the Seven Oaks team. We're aiming for some golds this year.

Sincere apologies. I saw the revised time on the club website and DiscGolfU site, but it didn't register that this was a change---perhaps because I was a noon-registration hopeful. I'd defend myself with the disclaimers in the original post.....but I do regret not including "7:00" in any of my subsequent posts.

I appreciate that David, and I should have caught the change like everyone else. I'm mostly disappointed that I will miss this wonderful event for the first time in 3 years. Good luck to all and I will try again next year.

although I will not make you feel any better, I was on the site at 7pm using a slow satellite connection ready to sign up someone. By the time I entered his info, signed up, then went back in to confirm I registered him in the correct division..it was full... however, he made it. I suggest getting in on the wait list. They may expand to 100 players and your chances should improve.

Looking at DGU it looks like they have already expanded to 100.

I'd still suggest the waitlist for all who didn't get in. For events like this, sometimes people sign up to hold a spot, unsure whether they'll actually make it. Note that two withdrew on the same day they registered. So there's no telling how many spots will ultimately be filled from the waitlist.
