I have a quick question. A buddy and I plan on signing up he is unranked and I am 907. Does that mean we must sign up for intermediate, or is rec an option since one player is not currently ranked?

Sorry, but both teammates have to be eligible to play in the chosen division, so with a 907 rating, you'd have to play Int or Adv. (just like both players would have to be over 40 to play in advanced masters).

Normal doubles etiquette is to play up to the higher player's division, though there are some exceptions to that.

But in a sanctioned event, we have to follow the ratings restrictions.

But you probably wouldn't be alone. If I recall, several players in Int. last year either weren't pdga members at all (so no ratings), or were members but without ratings yet.

Thanks, this is what I thought. I was actually hoping this would be the case.

We are only 1 weeks away from the Texas State Amateur Doubles tournament (this will be the 16th year of this great event).

REGISTRATION
We are getting close to half full, so get your entry in soon. You can sign-up online here: http://www.discnation.com/2011-Texas-Am-Doubles-Disc-Golf-Championship.html or you can mail it directly to Josh Rippie at 6803 Mini Circle #A, Austin, TX, 78745 (but checks payable to WDGC). You can get all the info at that Disc Nation link as well as on both the Waterloo Club’s website and Facebook page, and here on this thread.

This tournament will be very similar to the past events, only it is being run by Waterloo Disc Golf Club instead of Dillo’s Leap Productions (and Josh will be the TD instead of Gordon). It is still at the Snow Farm in Round Top, it will still have a lot of great competition, good CTPs, fun camping, some free beer, player’s packs for everyone, plus more.

The club will have our full inventory of discs, shirts, and other merchandise out there, plus some great tournament stamped discs, including CFR Glow Champion Gators and CFR Glow Champion Firebirds. It will be “pick your own payout” and we’ll have plenty of stuff to choose from.

SPONSORSHIP
We are trying to round up some more last-minute sponsorship. If you, or someone or some business you know, can sponsor, please contact Josh directly at 512-653-9338 or jrippie@hotmail.com.

For only $75 you can have your name/logo on a tee sign and in the tournament program. For $100 you can be on a tee sign and in the program, plus you’ll receive a tournament towel. Sponsorship can be in cash, merchandise, or any combination of the two. Our full sponsorship request letter is below.

Thanks!

Dear Sponsor,

Waterloo Disc Golf Club is proud to announce that, for the first time, it is hosting Texas State Amateur Doubles Disc Golf Championship at The Snow Farm disc golf course in Round Top, Texas. The tournament is a PDGA sanctioned XB tier level event and will be held March 4-6, 2011. The tournament is two days (Saturday and Sunday) with a choice of playing an additional doubles round on Friday afternoon. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward renovations and maintenance of Austin disc golf courses such as Zilker, Bartholomew, and Circle C.

With your help, we can make this tournament a great experience for the participants and spectators alike. Waterloo Disc Golf Club is accepting both monetary and merchandise sponsorships for the events and would be proud to prominently display your name and logo as a supporter of this tournament.

All sponsors for $75 or more will receive a tee sign and their name/logo will be in the tournament program. Please send logos to Josh Rippie at jrippie@hotmail.com at least one week in advance of the event in order to be included in the program. For $100 or more, sponsors will also receive a tournament towel, and the sponsors banner will be displayed (if provided). However, any help and support in any amount would be greatly appreciated.

We thank you for helping us create a successful tournament and we look forward to the continued development of our partnership. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Josh Rippie

There are still some spots left in Flight A for this weekend and Josh is working on moving some things around to free up some spots in Flight B too, so come on out to the Snow Farm tomorrow to sign up. The spots are first come, first served though so come out early.

Josh is already out at the ranch, you can reach him (probably) on his cell, 512-653-9338. If his cell doesnt get good service / connection out there, you can try calling Randons cell we know it works: 979-451-2069. He will probably be with or near Josh or can at least get a message to him. Texting Josh might also work, but if you dont hear back from your call or text, then try calling Randon.

We will be collecting used discs this weekend out at the Snow Farm to be given to the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. The school needs these discs for their kids to use they have a disc golf course right there on the campus. So bring out your extras and drop them in the box.

If you arent coming out this weekend, you can also bring them to any other Waterloo club function like the Bart minis.

Speaking of the Waterloo Bart mini this Saturday is cancelled. It will resume next weekend, March 12th.

Also, dont forget that this Saturday is also the Into the Lions Den tournament in Temple. For more information, contact Kevin Eldredge, 4 The Chains Disc Golf, 325.423.4295, 4thechains@gmail.com

Signup was still available on www.titledisc.com as of a little while ago (9:30 pm Thursday evening) but Im not sure when they may take it down. There is also a lot of info on the tournament there too.
