Did I read the registration right or is it a misprint, $60 for a one day tournament?

nope, you heard it right. Lots of added cash and a decent player pack. It's your money, spend it where you see fit.

First, if anybody has questions about our registration fees and how it is broken down please feel free call Shawn Wanamaker at the Shack 512-653-4309.
Now to directly answer your question, Admin Fees is the money used to help with permit fees for the course, players packs, tournament insurance and marketing.
Wanna Play Disc Golf's goal for our events is to have great players packs, and big payouts.
55% of all registration fees goes directly to payout. $5 more the ace pot and $3 that will be paid out directly to the Open players CTP payout. In short more than 60% of a players registration fee goes directly back to the overall payout.
Wanna Play Disc Golf is also actively fundraising for added cash and prizes through local sponsors. We currently have a total of $650 in added cash that will go directly to the overall tournament payout. We will divide the added payout between the Open, Adv and Int divisions. You can see the exact breakdown at www.dukebragg.com.
Every player registered in the tournament will get a tourney stamped dri fit and a Glow KC PRO Aviar in their players pack.
All this I still have not mentioned the bonus payout for the player in each division with the most deuces or the $2500 Ace Bonus hole.
Now with that being said Wanna Play Disc Golf is a for profit company and we do plan to make a profit from our events but never at the expense of the players payout.

You mention that 60% of the reg fee goes to payout. Just an FYI, PDGA standards dictate that you must payout at least 85% of the registration fee in a c Tier. Also the maximum event management fee (which essentially what your $10 admin fee is) for a c Tier is $100. I'm not saying you are in violation of this standard as I am not sure how all the math playes out for your event. Just providing this information as an FYI.

Also in my limited experience as TD (approx 12 events as a TD) Open players are never OK with tourneys taking money out of their purse for any reason other than perhaps a park entry fee & PDAG fee.

One last peice of info, you mentioned you are for profit which is great. I fully support these events as for profit. That's how I run my events too. That said, you buy discs at wholesale and sell discs at retail as part of the AM payout. With that model you are guaranteed to make a profit.

I fully support you and this tourney and hope it is a great success! It sounds like your events are going to be really fun and you are trying to make these events top notch! Can't wait to check it out.

Duke Braggs Deuce Run is Wanna Play Disc Golfs first PDGA tournament and we have put a lot of time and effort into this event. I know our tournament is a bit out of the box but we feel that we have a strong recipe for a great family event and huge payouts for our players. There have been some concerns about our registration fees so I called the PDGA and confirmed we are in compliance with their standards.
Duke Braggs Deuce Run is a C-tier tournament that will consist of two full rounds for each division, with a final nine holes for the top card in Adv, Int and Open.
We will be running several side contests within tournament to award additional prizes and cash to the players.
 ACE POT
CTP(Closest To Pin) hole per round for every card
 Dukes Dropping Deuces Challenge
 $2500 Ace Bonus Challenge
We will also want to focus on turning our tournaments into family friendly events and will be hosting several games, contests and entertainment throughout the afternoon to keep the players between rounds and their families engaged while they are waiting.
 Ring of Fires
 Mini Kan Jam Tournaments
 Random Raffles
 Long Putt Contest
 Bowling for Aces
 Disc Golf How To Clinics
I want to thank everyone for their ideas and help over the last couple of days. I am very excited to see there has been some good interest in our tournament and look forward to seeing everyone out at Steeplechase. We will use all your ideas to continue to improve our future events and welcome you suggestions both before and after Duke Braggs Deuce Run.

any details on the $2500 Ace Challenge; is it an insured hole where no one is going to have a chance or is it a normal hole on the course?

mfcastillo17
Feb 15 2011, 05:02 PM
Just registered for MPO as well.

I did have one question though. I noticed on the schedule of events that the players meeting is at 7:00am. Does everyone need to be present at this meeting even if your tee time is not until later? Usually at tournaments with tee times the TD has a players meeting for each individual group before they tee off so that you don't have to attend a 7:00am players meeting if you are not teeing off until later. Just checking! Thanks!

Duke Bragg
Feb 15 2011, 06:16 PM
No the Players meeting is not mandatory. We will go over all the info and hand every player a sheet with all the OB, course and CTP INFO on it before you tee off.
We will hold the meeting for anybody that has questions before the tournament begins.

Duke Bragg
Feb 15 2011, 08:10 PM
In regards for the $2500 Ace Hole - It will be insured but it is not a crazy hole that nobody has a chance at. We are keeping the exact hole a surprise for the day of the tournament. I will say that If nobody aces the hole I bet there will be a ton of deuces on it. Now to qualify for the ACE Bonus It will need to be a clean shot. If it is a skip shot or bounces off a tree you will still earn the tournament ACE POT but not the ACE Bonus.

No because you took a bogey on 14 in the final... that pretty much takes you out of the split!!!

I know he shot better on the Final 9 by 1 stroke, but we were tied overall at the end. Unless Shawn did it differently, I assume we would split the combined 3rd and 4th place $$$.

just want clarification because it seemed that things were changing while we were out on the course. Like top 4 only instead of top half of division like we thought.

Kessler you are correct The TD report has you tied but our little self made report did not all allow for ties we figured it out and you both get $115. His name came up first because he "J" comes before "M" Jess already took his split in payout. Come by the shop and you can grab yours. So in short yes you did tie and it was reported that way to PDGA and you have $115 in payout waiting for you and your better half has $30 coming her way as well.

Just a quick FYI concerning our tournaments registration fees to payout for Duke Bragg's Deuce Run.

The Open players payout percentage for cash only was over 180% if you add the retail value of the players pack it was well over 300%.

The Am players payout percentage was over 150%
