The GCC was the number 1 Pro A-Tier event (based on Pro Purse Payout) for the last three years. Our 2011 NT application was denied, but I am positive we will be the #1 A-Tier event again in 2011, and doubt we will ever be an NT unless the NT schedule is expanded.

Last year Am payback was 134% with 137 players. We changed the 2011 Am schedule to be a three-day event, via tee time. Friday and Saturday rounds will be around 24 holes, while the final round on Sunday will be the 18-hole Pro layout. We can accommodate 175 Am players this year! Around a $30 player package, including two discs you can't buy!

Pro payback last year was 152% (excluding player packages values and other goodies) with 149 players and 185% payback with all goodies included (CTPs, Aces, ect.). Format the same as last year (one round a day of a super long course, over three days).

Ace Pool for the longest Ace each round for each weekend. Also have a putting contest and a mini CTP contest each weekend on Sunday before you tee for a mini basket.

Am raffle is growing (over $500 in the pool so far) and pro Silent Auction is huge so far (will be posted soon at lvbagtag.com). Also, Escorted by a Pro is happening again, so place your bids!

Thanks again to DiscGolfValues.com and Innova for stepping up and supporting the PDGA's #1 Pro event!

We will likely fill up a few weeks before each tournament, so sign up sooner than later.

Oh ya...the caddie book is better that any other caddie book I've seen...except the USDGC (of course).

Any questions, please post here.

More sponsorships. $100 from Dr. Kenneth Cox (dentist located right across the street from teepad #17)!

Silent Auction bids coming in! (Thanks "The Chad" Francis, PDGA 30662, for the $100 bid on two 1970s Star War frisbees!) Go to www.lvbagtag to check them out. Some collector items being listed!!!

Escorted by a Pro bids coming in. (I am pretty sure I heard all the Pros who volunteered last year say they'd do it again...especially since it raised $600 for the Pro Weekend!) You'd tee at Noon the Thursday before the GCC.

Entries updated.

More sponsorships! Christian Cullen (turns 50 this year) $40. I hear huklab will be sending $300 in merchandise...and if the new daddy can pull it off (congratulations Jay!), might be at the Pro weekend of the GCC to sell his goods. Also hear Sierra Nevada donating some goodies (thanks Arek!). Don't know the details yet, but last year was a lot of cool items...including 24 cases of beer!

Escorted by the Pros will be updated soon. Paul McBeth and Will Schusterick are being added to the list. Other pros are being removed until we verify that they are still interested. Place your bids now!!! You'd play at Noon on 2/24 at Sunset Park, front 18 holes.

Pro layout is looking awesome! (Thanks Cary & Steve!!!) Hole 11 an island hole, with an elevated basket. Also, like the Memorial, lots of ob lines being added to clearly separate the fairways. Only the pin placement will change each round Pro weekend. I don't think anything else will change.

Sunday round for the Ams will match the Pro layout.

Any questions, post here for all to see.

Looking forward to coming back to play the GCC and hopefully play better than last year. One question though: There is conflicting info on how many holes the Ams play. The front page of the website says 3 rounds of 18 but here it says 2 rounds of 24 and one round of 18. Which is right?

canonico69
Jan 29 2011, 02:01 AM
as i understand the latter is correct. 2 rounds of 24 normal layout with sunday being 18 holes of the GCC pro layout.....pretty long par 60

Hey all.
The Gentlemen's Cup is the first big event of the 2011 touring season and we would like some great pictures from Nevada for the next issue of DiscGolfer.

If you have a good camera and are going to be there then please contact me and I'll give you some info that will help in securing magazine quality images.

Thanks

Is there a map of the pro layout? Just to have an idea of what it's like.

lvdgc
Feb 01 2011, 10:00 PM
Map might be available within a week or two. Both weekends are playing a very extended 18-hole lay out each day. The Ams will play almost the same layout as the Pros last year. Each weekend will also have their own island hole (just like USDGC). Pro weekend almost same layout as last year, BUT will have many O.B. lines added separating fairways (just like the Memorial).

I screwed up on the entry fees for the Am weekend. Each Am sign-up will get $10 back at check in.

More sponsorships...the LVDGC is kicking in another $500 (for a total of $1,500), Jon Canonico for $40, Francis Albanese for $40, the Doubles Crews for another $120, another $250 add with our quick sales of the first run Star Vulcan.

Escorted by a Pro list up at lvbagtag.com. Barry Schultz will be here for both Pro and Am weekend, so all you out-of-town Ams can bid on playing with Barry Schultz the Thursday before the Am weekend (2/17 at Noon).

Silent Auction bids coming in. They also are being updated at www.lvbagtag.com.

Feb 06 2011, 01:33 AM
Maps posted on lvbagtag.com. Course designers made an NT layout for the Pros, and a pretty competative layout for the ams.

Looks like total sponsorships will be around $20,000...if we can sell all our fund-raiser discs.

Looks like total costs to run both weekends is around $12,000.

So, looks like around $8,000 or so added to the GCC.

The MPG field will likely exceed the Memorial after this weekend local sign ups.

More sponsorships...$300 from the Blue Ox, $100 from Fat Tuesdays, $40 from Jimmy Daughenbaugh, lots of goodies from Sierra Nevada (and I mean a lot); huges discount on tournament needs from IFA Country Stores for hay bales (yes, another island hole each weekend), Millennium awards (wait until you see the wine and pilsner glasses you can bid on or win in the raffle), La Quinta (donating a room for the raffle), and Cazadores Tequila (shot specials by the girls at each award ceremony).

Over $800 in raffle goods.

silent Auction will grow after am weekend...like crazy.

Escorted by the Pros is coming along great!!!

Get you sign ups in now. #1 Pro A-Tier event for 2011...I'd bet! (And I do live in Vegas so I am a betting man!!!)

Pro weekend - We will have a MPL division! Might only be two, but we will have a division!!!

Feb 13 2011, 09:54 AM
And more sponsorships!!! Steve Berger $40. Ameya Leitera $40.

Saturday Night Adult Player's Party - Crazy Horse 3 (near Russell and I-15) from 8 PM to 11 PM. Free entry with wrist band, 1 free drink with wrist band, 1/2 drinks thereafter with wrist band. Free limo services to Crazy Horse 3 if you call them and ask. Dress code is business casual. No baggy jeans, t-shirts, hats, or jerseys.

I know there are a few "pros" in town that probably qualify to play for the AM weekend. Why don't you guys sign up and play AM and then maybe you might actually cash in the open after an extra weekend of practice on this LONG layout.

Just wanted to say thank you to all the staff and to the competitors. It is true that it takes a LOT of volunteers to help make an event a success but without the competitors who came out to play there is no event. So thank you to everyone that played but especially to all of the out of towners who came to Vegas play this past weekend at the AM GCC 2011!

Hey I was down there last weekend for my Wife's Birthday and her parents 40th anniversary and it was the coldest I remember it being in February. There was no disc golf for me but I did win on the craps table, thanks Bills Gambling Hall and Casino.

It was windy last weekend but no where near 50+ winds. What time of day was it the worst?

Oh yeah the Blue Martini is awesome bar, many many beautiful people. However there was a dress code enforced while we were there.

Feldberg got sick.

Winds were not as bad as Friday, but still gusting up to 30 mpg.

We lost two tents on Friday.

At 6:30 AM on Saturday, there was a bit of snow falling, but melted right away.

Most staff have bad wind burns on their faces and hands.
