Tupelo Bay is coming up and we need to start spreading the word. Based upon the fact that it's still on the PDGA calendar (and also my registration wasn't rejected), I think it's still on.
This is a chance to play some rounds of golf on an actual ball golf course and you get to use carts all day. It's a very relaxed schedule in that you play two rounds on Saturday with the same foursome and break for lunch whenever your group is ready. (At least that's been the Saturday format for the last couple of years). The weather is usually pretty good. The morning are chilly, but it warms up quickly. I've played for five years and the only issues have been a frost delay a couple of years ago and then there was heavy rain last year.
It's well worth the entry fee considering you will not be paying any more for lodging then you would for any other out of town tournament. The Viking Inn is dirt cheap and I've heard that there is a resort about 15 minutes away with very nice rooms and amenities.

I imagine it would be a hassle to try and refund the money, so I think I'll let them treat my over-payment as a sponsorship.

We have been trying to contact the tournament director via the web site and his phone to determine if we can pay other than through PayPal. We have 6 people wanting to play, but have been hesitant due to no answer and concern regarding if the tournament will be held. We heard rumors the tournament has been canceled; the entry fee reduced; and others. Will this tournament be held? What is the entry fee? Is there another method of entering versus sending in our money via PayPal and receiving a refund? Way too many questions and not enough time......

From what I've heard, the tournament is a go. This will be the 4th year in a row that I've played. From my experience, I will say that things seem to always come together last minute. The TD stays very busy throughout the year and this tournament is designed as a vacation for him and his helpers. The rest of us are just lucky enough to be taken along for the ride.
I look forward to this tournament every year and as long as it is being held, I will be there.

Yes, just looking for confirmation. The whole family is planning on it this year (plus we have friends traveling down from the frozen north to join us) - With the one Chambers and 3 Thompsons, plus 2 Canadians ... that's 6 potential registrants.
But - with all due respect to things coming together at the last minute, I'm just a little bit reluctant to Paypal 420 down for the family registrations without verification from a TD that the tournament is going to happen ... and then this weekend, the new news is that that cost is different (so is it going to amount to 4 x $75, or do we register and find out later that there's a refund ... ?).
I've been leaving voice mails with Kirk since September, and Facebook messages, and emails ... I know that Elaine King has been trying as well. However, we haven't heard anything at all. If there's anyone else we should be talking to (Mike Norris??) please let us know.

I talked to Mike Norris this evening. He said that the tournament is a definite go. The entry fee is $100. If we get more than 75 entries the fee will drop to $75 and everyone will get a refund. They plan on picking up the baskets from Innova and they will be set up around noonish on Friday.
So get those entries in and let's try to fill this thing up for a change.

This is neat. Tons of people are signing up, however the registration list isn't getting updated, so we have no idea who we'll expect to see when we get there. (Unless they happen to have said so on the discussion board)
It's almost like a blind date!

Is there a limit on the number of participants needed in order for this to definitely happen? I know the May tournament needed at least 72, which I assume wouldn't apply this time considering the tournament has never reached that number. I just didn't know if you guys needed at least 50 or whatever?? Looking forward to it!

I heard it needs at least 4 or 5 more Pro Masters. Ah crap, never mind, it's becoming sort of a tradition for me to play with the young guns at this event.

I'm thinking of going... can I go down Friday and register Saturday AM? Sorry, I don't have no plans... working a lot this week and could really use a break!
My van has room to cut that 75 person price break almost to zero. Anyone interested in leaving Friday afternoon? From Rock Hill...
