Time to register for the South Carolina Disc Golf Championships!

The flyer and online registration link are now available at:

www.columbiadiscgolfclub.com
or
www.scdgo.net

This is Columbia's crosstown tournament, played on both Earlewood Park and Owens Field. The combination of two very different courses is a good test of all phases of your game---long, short, tight, open, hilly, flat. The Columbia club reports a tremendous amount of work done at Owens Field in the past year, and ongoing construction by the Columbia Parks Dept. is sure to result in a few new wrinkles.

It's also a B-tier and SCDGO-points-series event.

This is the original championship tournament in South Carolina, now something like 20 years old. Not to be confused with the South Carolina Flying Disc Championships or the South Carolina State Disc Golf Championships (it's a little state, but we love our champions here!).

If you're coming from out-of-town, you should know that the State Fair is, too!

You can add the Fair to your weekend and make it a real vacation. We're not claiming it as an amenity or some kind of super-players-party, but if turning upside down after eating deep-fried-anything is your idea of fun, check it out!

On the other hand, if you're not a State Fair type of person, at least be aware that it's occuring near Owens Field, and be on the lookout for traffic jams as you practice or travel between courses.

Passing along a course change at Owens Field.

Hole 16 was lost to parking lot construction; the new hole 16 is described as follows:

249', slight left-to-right bend (but with an alternate RHBH skip-shot route), teeing out of the woods, over a dirt mound but under an archway. I haven't seen it but it sounds pretty cool. As you walk from the 15 basket to the old 16 tee, there's a pathway on the left leading to the new tee.

Reminder that this is a B-tier so should have the standard $500 cash added for the Pros. Most of the early registration has been Ams, so you Pros might want to jump in; you may be looking at a pretty good return on the entry fees.
