Great News All

I talked with the Live Oak Parks department today and they've cleared all the downed trees from the most recent storm. All the fairways have been mowed (including 11A & 11C) except for 11B. 11B will be mowed prior to the event. Also they are working this week to open up a few of the trails between holes on 15A & 15 B. The course is in prime shape and ready for practice!

NOTE: Course will be unavailable Saturday Oct 2 (morning only) and Wednesday Oct 6 (event only) due to a high school cross country meet.

Hey Scott, can you tell me how many rounds the Ams divisions(INT to be more specific) will play each day? Thanks!

Sounds like fun...hope I can make it down. I've only played Live Oak once and that was in the middle of July...hot, hot, hot and we didn't take enough water with us! December sounds like a much better time!

The specifics about which divisions are playing where and when won't be available until a day or two before the event. I need to stay flexible so that I know how many players are in each division before assigning them to pools. That said, all divisions will be play all 3 courses once. I plan on posting the course layouts as soon as they are finalized.

Um, have you tried contacting the TD before the open forum callout? I know that Scott as well as the San Antonio Disc Club are doing everything they can to make this the best event possible.

Every other event they have had they have been open to making divisions as long as there were a minimum number of players in that division (3 I think).

Besides, I don't know why you think that your problem has anything to do with the title sponsor. Fly Ink is not running the tournament, SADC is...

The Pro Grand Master is not on the list is becuase I've never once had a single player ever offer to play that division in the 3 years I've been running tourneys. That said, if there are 4 of you I'll offer the divsion. Please feel free to sign up up using the form online amd mail it in with a write in of Pro Grandmaster. Same price as Open, $80. http://www.sanantoniodiscclub.com/flyinkentryform.pdf

Is this your first A-Tier Event? I thought so.

I have been getting offers of sponsorship and people wanting to help on this event, so I think there is some confusion out there.

The Fly-Ink Open is an SADC (San Antonio Disc Club) event. Although it will take place at the Live Oak Course, it is not connected with the Live Oak Disc Golf Alliance (LODGA). LODGA will help sponsor the event just as we do other events in our area, but we are not running it.

There is no need to read anything into that statement, I just think it is important to clarify.

It really depends on your division. We'll have 2 pools and depending on how fast different divisions fill will determine what pool those divisions are placed in. My recomendation would be to get in within the next few weeks as we are alaready up to 40 with several entries coming in daily.

We are at or close enough to sea level to not have that be an issue. Haven't heard from Robbie so don't know if he's playin or not. Just a heads up on the courses, although distance is key on many holes, Live Oak is a John Houck designed course so course management is key. For those that may be wondering, there is doubles and player check in on Friday Dec 3rd @ Live Oak. Players are strongly encouraged to check in and get their players packs on Friday as there will be limited time for that on Saturday due to the time constraints. If you can't check in Friday, no worries, you can pck up your players packs through the end of the day Saturday too.

Time, Resource Contraints, & to make you ask questions. :D

It is subject to change based on who signs up and the numbers in each division. My goal is to make this run as smooth as possible with minimal "backups".

Also it is highly unlikely the MPO and FPO divisions will get capped. More than likely that is reserved for the amatuer divisions.

The Player Info Booklet has been updated again: http://www.sanantoniodiscclub.com/playerinfo.pdf

Updates include the distances on the Hill Course and an update to 8 & 9 on the Hill Course. For those that have played 8 & 9 on the Hill Course in the past (I think these where numbered 17A & 17B in past LOSO tourneys), I've put in a variation on those two. 8 is now shorter and playing to an even more protected pinn position. The basket for 9 has been moved to the ledge near the street. Any long shots/putts are likely to go OB. I've changed the tee position on 9 with the long position forcing a RHBH Anhyzer or RH flick shot. The short position on 9 is a dangerous but fun shot. Hopefully you all like these changes.

Today I also met with the LO Parks Manager. The courses are in tremendous condition right now. All of the Lake Course holes are being mowed today and will be mowed again the week of the event.

just and FYI, on the Hill after you play hole 7, you'll walk across and up enchanted oaks and past hole 9 to hole 8 which thows toward the school building. Hole 8 & 9's tees are right next to each other, one throwing one way to the 8's basket and one throwing to the death basket #9.

Jeerrrrrrry! You are throwing a party over there in San Antonio. Thanks for the heads up. If you don't make noise nobody will hear you. You are one noisy disc golf TD...now..can you handle it? Now put down the bongos and get dressed, your about to throw the biggest disc golf party SA has ever seen.

Thanks Scott for working so hard on this event. We (SADC) are very blessed to have people like you in our club. I know how much work goes into running a 1 day event. I can't even imagine putting in the work for a 2 day A-Tier. Thanks again to all others who helped out with this one.

Apoligizes for not getting these up last night. As soon as I got home last night I slept for 12 straight hours.

Skins Match was really fun to watch. Micah Samuelsen won the skins raffle and was able to force a couple pushes but in the end the skins where dominated by GG with Anthony Daman grabbing a few skins too. GG got $700 in skins and Anthony got $300.

FYI, the payout includes the series bonus payouts.

Total purse paid out was $11,007!

Thanks again to DiscGolfStation.com and Fly Ink!

Thanks to all who traveled from near and far to attend this event. For the most part I think it went very smooth. Other than some grumblings from the Pros about the 2nd round shuffle (we'll correct that next year) I didn't hear any complaints. We are looking to get better so send your feedback to me @ [email protected]

Just finished the financials for the FIO. Here's some summary info.

Pro Event Value = $5,866 which was 170% payout!
Am Event Value = $9,971 which was 221% payout!

Total Event Value (less Ace Monies) = $15,837
Ace Monies = $875

That doesn't include the raffle which was valued at $1800 or the Fly Ink / EDGE CTP which was values at $700.

When its all said and done SADC paid out $19,212 in cash & prizes and took in $7,949 in net entry fees.

Thanks again for coming out!
