The Oak Hollow Open is a US Doubles Championship Qualifier!

The TD will award 3 captain spots to the qualifying players. The
qualifying players are those Amateur players with the lowest total
score regardless of division. They cannot be registered Pro, and
they must accept the invitation to enter the US Doubles
Championship immediately. If a qualifying player declines, the TD
offers the spot to the next qualified player. Only players within the
top ten scores can qualify.

Registration information is available at Charlottedgc.com.

I run a singles event on Tuesday nights that will run to the end of August. It is a 6:00 start, $5 entry, $1 ace pool.

Notes:
- We will be moving a few logs by truck starting at 5:30 this Tuesday, if you could make it early.
- We will be having a workday this Saturday, the 14th, from 10 am to 1 or 2 pm, to finish a few small projects.

Finally, the oakhollowdgc.com website has been updated!

If you have been there before, be sure to hit the refresh button for the changes for the tournament info...

Also, the new tee signs have been installed at Johnson Street. Special thanks to Trey Williams, Phillip Lawrence, Eddie Garmon, Tim Spurgeon, and the High Point Parks and Recreation Dept.! They are awesome...

Also, a special thanks to Don Murphy for the old tee signs. They lasted over a decade and several of them were still in good shape!!!

Good luck with y'alls tournament this weekend. Wish I could be there, but I've committed to helping my club pour the remaining concrete tee pads at our world-class, par-66 Deer Lakes course near Pittsburgh.

Great tournament! Really happy that this is my club that puts on this show!

Festival was awesome, great layout!

Johnson street looked better this weekend than I think it ever has. Tons of people commented on how well the course has been kept up!

Ratings look a little low, are we gonna provide in the TD report the actual par for festival? Right now its set at 54 and I thought it was a 55. Also I think it should be noted that the baskets were a little off in setup just to account for some missed putts that I think everyone had out there. That should clear up the TD report and help out the ratings a tad.

Thanks,
Trey

Aug 23 2010, 05:59 PM
Does it mean anything that the ratings are different from the 2 groups that played the courses on different days?

Ratings for Pro/Intermediate fields are higher. Just curious. Maybe it shows I still don't understand how ratings work.

here's chuck's answer when I asked:

Unofficial Ratings are always based on the group of players playing the courses that round. However, we combine the scores from rounds on the same layout if the weather was similar so everyone will get the same rating for the same score when the official ratings get posted.

thanks time to go back into retirement

Another fantastic event, played on incredible courses and put on by a top notch club. Festival and Johnson street looked as good as ever and I really liked the new layout at festival. The tents and water jugs every couple of holes were nice touches made playing in the open alot easier. Great payout. Sweet CTP's. Maps and rules that could almost be framed. large competitive fields in every division.

I could go on but you get the idea of why this is a must play event every year for a number of folks. Special thanks to Super Dave and his crew. It was really nice seeing a new generation of golfers step up to the plate and take control. Eddie Garmon, Phil Lawrence, Trey Williams, Lynn Gibson and others showed this past weekend that the tradition of excellence in High Point will continue for years to come.

Looking forward to the 2011 OHO. Thanks again High Point Disc Golf.
