I thought this would be a good thread to have available, since we have a good number of highly rated players here in the Tulsa area.
When I was starting out in disc golf I would have paid to have a pro player walk a course with me and teach me the ropes. I think there are plenty of young players in the tulsa area that are to intimidated to ask a "Pro" for help on there game. If there were pro players that would be willing to put on a clinic or even one on one training, I think there would be people signing up for this. (It could be like Idol gives back, but not really because they would get paid for it)

Or we could just have this thread on here for free advice. "unless you ask Two-Putt a question, then you will be sent a bill"

To be fair, Dave only charges for good advice. The iffy stuff is free...

Abe, WTH? I have never billed you for anything.

I do like your idea though, for the clinic. There are enough free threads all over the net. Nothing like being there to see exactly what someone is trying to show you.

I agree, there are a lot of players afraid to ask. I have been talking to a new player here in Owasso. He feels that the better players wouldn't want him around. I told him just the opposite. We were all new players at one time. Even Devan and Coda.
He and I plan on getting a few rounds in out here just to help his game.

It is intimidating to a new player to ask questions when he sees a player launch one 500ft. But the guy that just threw it probably couldn't get one 200ft 4 years ago, if that long ago.

Abe, since it is your idea, how about coming up with your list of players you want for instruction, determine what it is the new players want to learn the most. One clinic will not be enough. But it will introduce them to the players and they will see we welcome just about anyone. Occasionaly a Hatton:D or Hinds:p comes along but we still accomodate them.

Try to have the clinic on a week night(s), as most of the pros travel on weekends. Tues -Thurs would probably work best for most of them.

I will be willing to help you with it if you need.

Carefull though you may get more people than you have instructors.
I'm sure the newbies would get a lot from a brief clinic then some one on one help with their specific concerns or questions.

Thanks Abraham!!!!!!

I know I was just trying to get your attention because I knew you would have something interesting to say about it.
I would'nt mind kicking this off. I would definitely need some input from you and others for the best way to make this happen. If I can make it to the am jam this weekend maybe we could get a think tank together. It would be nice if I could get about 10 to 20 "pros" from around the area to start thinking this way, and get there teach on.

I think that most all of our pros would be willing to do that and it will bring in more players to our events.

I didn't know that we had that many ams in town wanting help from the pros. I know most pros in town would be more than willing to help teach the ams or any interested players.
Count me in to help out with any clinics that I can make it to. I am usually off early on Fridays but have to work late most of the week.
I feel most confident in my ability to help out with putting (we have a lot of other pros that can teach driving etc better than my game). So if we want to get a group together I could do a putting clinic in my back yard on a Friday evening around 5pm, just not this Friday:)

as ive been told dont sell yourselves short.
a new player or a rec player or an intermediate or an advanced may have particular
weekness in their play that another player pro leval or not that can see and help
correct.
some players would only take classes from big names.
smart players would attend just about any clinic and would refer their buddies if success
is noticed in their game.
I,m one player that would attend clinics over playing minis.
