I always find it funny when players cheer at players meetings for the lack of or enforcement of a two meter rule.
Let's take Manor last weekend, a prime example of why the two meter rule is not the best for players. Many times especially with Cedar trees, you get a one stroke penalty for being above two meters and then you get a theoretical second penalty stroke when you mark your lie and you actually have no option but to pitch out due to your lie in the undergrowth below the tree. Wouldn't the theoretical penalty be sufficient?
How about the fact that two discs could potentially hit the same exact tree and one sticks, but the other does not. Did the players discs that didn't stay up in the tree deserve a penalty stroke as well?
Some argue that without the two meter penalty some players will intentionally crash trees to drop their shot to the basket to which I find comical because in the end players that intentionally throw at trees really aren't much of a player in the first place.
Something to chew on, go Team Justice:p

Maybe we should play 2 meters except when we get stuck in trees. That would solve everything. But your right about pentalizing some with unnecessary strokes. It's one of those debates that will continue to tickle your chuckle. I stopped playing traditional golf for that reason alone...I got so tired of getting my balls stuck in the trees. Just saying...
And Yeti(Master Jedi) I congratulate you for a tournament well played last weekend. For not knowing much about disc golf you sure can play your A** off. We really do need more players like yourself to promote the sport of disc golf...the fact that you can play and promote speaks volumes...thanks again.

Losing battle Jay. Patty takes her two meter rule seriously. :)
How about this: no OB line on the far side of the creek on 11, it's far too random. This plea never succeeds either.
If there is a functional creek crossing on 11, thank Lou; if it is dysfuntional, blame Lou. :)

Good point but...... throwing a thumber into a clump of trees above the basket is a big advantage. Hole #2 at Pease, you can bomb a power hyzer into the trees by the basket then play the shot from underneath the disc, making the hole a reachable 2 or a pretty easy 3. With the 3 meter rule you might consider playing a lower shot and taking the trees out of the decision which will cut the percentage of getting a 2 on that hole.

The way I look at it is: is it fair to the player that didn't throw his into the cedar that it only cost the guy 1 stroke instead of 2 for not only throwing off the fairway, but also in the top of a tree? It's not the guy that landed in the fairway's fault the other guy(btw-this guy would be me!) can't control his disc.

A 2 on hole 2?! I think I know of only 1 birdie on hole 2 in the 5 years I've spotted there during COTO. It cost me $100 too for the bounty I put on it. Darn Casey!

If you're short on hole 1 at peace, when the basket is on the left, the low route can be a challenging shot. That is the only time I've spike hyzered in to guarantee a putt for three. As long as everyone plays by the same rules, bring it:) Oh and ever since the willow at the end of #2 fell, the deuce happens quite often these days. There's no more risk of the kickback to the water. Looking forward to a great weekend, and thanks for putting the list up!

There can be if the creeks are high after a good rain. Hole 12 can have water behind the basket and hole 18 crosses a creek 60 feet before the basket. I thinks that's it..a few other creek beds that essentially could fill but would have to really rain hard to get to that point.
For those who haven't played Circle C this would be a great opportunity to play it. Rarely are there any tournies played here because of the 'soccer mom' community it is nestled in. So come out and treat yourself to one of the best disc golf courses in Austin!

Well, unfortunately you will be forced to play the 'wtf' Circle C course during COTO. But a simple fix for future tournaments would be not play them. Curious why you don't like CC?
You would be the first not to like CC that I've heard. Or is it, you just don't like the idea of a tourney there? Maybe Patty will use Wells Branch next time...JK for those who don't know WB.
Huggy. Let me know what you think after the tourney(please don't judge on what place you get or how you score at CC..ha ha). We will make the final decision up to you. Is CC a good course? Is it a good course for a tourney? Tee times are not my favorite but for CC it makes more sense.

I understand how you feel guy, but COTO has been moving toward this for over 5 years.....we didn't mean to overstep Lou....it was a mistake ( i didn't realize his event was in june, i guess i'm out of touch)...but like i said, there has been talk of COTO adding Circle C to the venue for over 5 years & COTO's date hasn't changed in at least 5 years. It really shouldn't be that big of a surprise. We're lucky to even get to use Pease this year, and have the chance that it won't be there next year (that's the last official word i've heard...from the Parks Director).
I know, change is hard, and best delt in small doses. This year, the Pros & MA1's just get a bigger dose than the other divisions. Take your medicine, big boy :).and aim for that Vibram spot!

Cool. I thought you were saying you didn't like CC. I want everyone that hasn't played CC to know that it is a great course if one has to be played along side Pease.
So, it's possible that last year was the last true COTO as we know it.
What we all wish for are concrete T-boxes at Pease. And we know that ain't happening.
And Guy, the way you were manhandling Pease last time I played with you...I to would be upset at the change up. You were totally kicking a**! And then there was Brad...

Huggy. Let me know what you think after the tourney(please don't judge on what place you get or how you score at CC..ha ha). We will make the final decision up to you. Is CC a good course? Is it a good course for a tourney? Tee times are not my favorite but for CC it makes more sense.
I would be honored to be the course judge! Also I never judge a course in how I score, I love our bEast here in Waco but I have never been able to score well on it. Hope to get to Austin early Friday to check in and go see the circle. A couple of our locals claim it to be very challenging so I expect a treat either way. Can't wait to get there !

I have played all over the US, well over 100 courses, for 15 years. I played Circle C for the first time on last Friday. Its a GEM! It went immediately went into my top 10 all time.
Circle C is a perfect mix of challenge and fun. Manor is great but sometimes that is just too hard. Pease is nice, but it isn't even in my top 5 options in Austin. Circle C is at the top of the list when it comes to course in Austin (no disrepect to Manor, Austin Bible Ridge, Round Rock South Course, WilCo, or MetCenter). You won't be dissapointed. :D

I like the course and its a great test but I wouldn't see myself playing there every day if I lived in the area. I would play Circle C all the time if I lived there. Also, if you check my stats, I kill at Manor as my game is predicated on keeping it in the fairway and not boming shots. Manor = Leopard of tee all day.

Pros & MA1 will play Circle C both mornings.....yes, you will check in at Circle C on Saturday, unless you check in on Friday at Pease. We'll have a HQ substation set up at Circle C on Sat. & Sun.
All other divisions will play Circle C the 2nd round on Sat. (only one round @ Circle C)
Will update the list in a little while.....over 20 to add.
For Pros & MA1's
Sat - 1 round at Circle C & 1 round at Pease
Sun - 1 round at Circle C & ???

Played CC today...looks great! 64 or better will keep you in the race. I shot a 61 today in the wind and it felt good, but I left a lot of shots out there. If you've never played it, make sure you do before your round. You definitely NEED to know where you can make mistakes and placement is key. Mike G killed some great shots with a leopard (pured the right path of 6) so you are not mistaken with that disc. Stay low...or Justice will be served;)

I never thought about it till you asked, but it is similar to the Meadow in some ways. You don't need a lot of power to play well, bad shots are punished but not like Manor. Like Michhhah said, CC does need to be played beforehand; placement is is important and is not always obvious off the tee.

Great point sir.
Yes, the ace pot will be separated.
Pool A - All Pros & MA1 = Ace Pot #1
Pool B - All other divisions = Ace Pot #2
If no ace is hit during the 1st 3 rounds (no ace for final 9), each pool will CTP for their Ace Pot after the Final at HQ. Throw it in during the CTP & take it all (unless someone else throws it in too, then you gotta split it). If no one throws it in during the CTP, 2 closest will get paid (60/40 split).

Your guesstimate is correct. South on Mopac until you get to Slaughter Lane. Go west (take a right) until you see the park entrance on your left shortly after the 3rd World consumer plantation you can't miss;) Go past the bridge until you see the restrooms in between two fields on your right (2nd parking lot on your right). The first tee is about three hundred feet behind the R'rooms. Hope that helps.

I did a search on my GPS and it looked like Slaughter ln. is right off of I-35 so looks easy from I-35. Hmm maybe I should use another word other than easy , driving in Austin isnt easy anywhere . So looks like slaughter lanes exit is right off I-35 as you go south , may be able to exit onto slaughter lane .

Disc Nation is on the same street(Slaughter Ln). If you keep their number with you I'm sure they will be happy to help a fellow disc golfer. And if you punch in Disc Nations address your lady can get you there and then you can get directions.
Ultimately...look up Circle C neighborhood in Austin and find Slaughter Lane that goes by it. One of the entrances where the soccer fields are is where the course is. Baskets are quite hidden so...you know you have the right entrance when you cross a small low water crossing bridge and see a kids playground to your right as you enter the park. The course is just past the 1st soccer field immediatly after the kids playground on your right. Near the bathrooms about 100 feet behind them you will see two practice baskets.
Enjoy!!
Shoot...call me if you really get lost. 512-801-TIME. I'm off Friday. Just me hanging with my kids.

Once you exit Slaughter Lane from 35, turn right off exit. stay in the middle lane for a while, about 14 lights will be Mopac 1,... continue thru that light and go thru 2 more lights, once you pass Escarpment Blvd. ( where HEB is ), get in the left lane and take the next left into park. travel thru park to 2nd parking lot on the right. 1st tee is there.

This year the fun event is a putting contest, but not just any putting contest; this time it is a Jump-Putt competition! :D
We will also be giving away door prizes for our current club members plus anyone who joins the club during the weekend (or renews their membership). So be sure to come by the Waterloo Club tent to get your ticket. Well be there at Pease all day Saturday and Sunday.
This is a great chance to join the club at a discounted price: just $10 for a Player Membership (normally $20) or just $25 for a Supporting Membership (normally $40).

Way to go Dave!!!!!!!! Mooooooodys! I watched most of thier third round , as they were rounding the corner Dave made a great placement shot. Jay shook his head and says " man I just can't shake him today" . I wish I could have stuck around to watch the finals.
This weekend was my first look at circle c , that course is awesome !!! A little crowded in the parking area but well worth playing anytime!

Great weekend! Awesome to be able to watch the duel between Dave and Yeti!
Oh and by the way..anyone who walked up to ME and said ANYTHING about rain.....nuff said. Create your own world, think positive! Like my 3 putt on ten...what can I say..I am also human;) negative energy is best at a minimum.

Micah, you are correct sir....a cup half full works. I had fun playing heard golf after the awards last night. Never made it to Red Rock. Thanks and love again to the "Justice League" crew for doing a great job. I really did enjoy seeing everybody, worth crawling out from under my Rock. Someone please post, facebook, email a link if the final gets tubed. Someone said they had it all ready to go? Too many kind words for me to take in last night...big smile today.

Great tourney Justice. You can tell people the big fish got away from ya.
Fish...from Texas to Ohio...really...you know they can't play football...probably can't even chew gum and walk up there in Ohio. I did like Colombus though: ).
