Final 9? Why not just play 3 rounds and be out by 2pm?
Either that or make it 13 holes so that ratings can be calculated for the holes........for me at least I liked the original 3C idea of three rounds and then you're on the way home or sticking around for dubs.
At the moment the final 9 adds 2 1/2 -3 hours to the day with the only benefit being that you replay 9 of the holes you have already played 3 times and it isn't even rated.
Sorry but final 9's need to be good holes and not like what we played at Ingleside. It would have been nice to have played 3 rounds then head to the beach instead of staying 3 hours longer to play 9 not-so-great holes.

Originally I wanted to have 4 rounds and it was voted down. I like the format we have selected. The final 9 will give some folks a chance to move up the field a bit or falter. I still want the full 4 rounds though. It has been a while since I have played a full four round B-Tier. We are committed to 2 days of golf so we might as well get as much out of it as possible. Even with the final 9 it leaves room for a dubs round after awards, and it will be in the cooler part of the day. So are you looking for a big money blind draw dubs or what?

I would rather have four than 3 and a Final 9 (unless the final nine is Safari or skins).
Beeville is a decent course but the final 9 won't be too exciting on the original holes.

That is the point!
I knew I wouldn't win after the 1st few bad breaks and since the round wasn't rated I just let it get worse knowing it didn't mean anything.
Brad wasn't happy about playing the original course either and we both would have preferred the Gold course or just a more difficult setup besides a birdie-fest.

The thought with the Ingleside final 9 was that people had earned their positions through the first three rounds, and the final 9 gave people an opportunity to make a lot of birdies and hopefully jump some spots. If you were one of the top spots, it was your job to maintain your position by shooting well.

I like this a lot more but here is something to think about..................2 more holes (26 total) will allow you to get ratings for 2 separate rounds since the minimum is 13 holes per round.
So if you want to add 2 holes the event can have for rated rounds 21-21-13-13. Crowley does this with two 30 hole rounds broken into four 15 hole rounds.

How does that work for ratings if your first 15 holes are 1-15 and my first 15 are 9-23? Let's say I have a couple of par 4s and one par 5 but you have all par 3s.

You have to play them as distinct rounds to count as the ratings system only works if players are playing the course at the same time (one reason I argue against tee times and ratings working together). So if you had 30 holes, players should play 1-15 as one round and 16 - 30 as a second rounhd. When you are done with hole 15 you proceed to hole 1, not to hole 16. Make sense?

if the players in your division are playing the same holes/course it shouldn't be a problem. it's like the vic open this year with two courses. just need the propogators playing, that's all.

After thinking about it it doesn't matter. Everyone plays the same thirty holes and 1-15 is round one 16-30 is round two. But I agree with Scott that it works out more like tee times. Any way no one plays the same holes in the same conditions if there is any weather variances even in a shotgun start. That is just golf.

I just wanted to say that you can't really have a player start on hole 5, play 5-15, got to 16, play 16-30, then go to 1 and play 1-5. You should really seperate them out as 2 distinct rounds played at the same time by the same group (maybe use pools) so the ratings are more like for like. Who is this Scott character you speak of?

We had an unplanned CTP for $1. I had no idea how to end it but David Chapa hit it and made it stick to win $79.
So what happened with the other CTPs mentioned above?

maybe i did the math wrong, but i'm showing int. men to be short $56-$88 (one player who dnf) and rec women short $16.
is there a breakdown of how payout is calculated or entry fees are divided (pdga fee/players' pack and such)?

Here's a link to the tour standards:
http://www.pdga.com/files/documents/TourStandards.pdf
Basically take the entry fee less the ace pot ($40) and subtract the PDGA fee ($3), less the player's pack ($10) for a total of $27. Then multiply that by the number of poeple in the division (19) for a total of $513 is the minimum that can be paid out under the tour standards. They appear to have paid out $520 (per the website), so technically they overpaid or added $7 to the payout.

We has an interesting discussion about a ruling and weather a disc resting on the out side of the cage is considered in. See below, looks like the correct ruling was make.

All discs but the yellow one will complete the hole once the owner gets to the basket and removes it before it possibly falls down and out.

Great times 3rd Coasters! Glad SADC was able to come down a represent (at least some of us where able to represent) and we'll be there in full effect for Gonzo for sure. Probably at least twice as many SADCer's will be down for Gonzo.
Also, good to meet some new people and to put some faces to MB names. El Jaffe, your hat is classic and I expect to see you wearing that on the course from now on!
Oh and how about Shannon's Ace? That was classic, not sure who looked happier, her or Bret!

Unless the yellow disc is leaning enough to tough the chains at which point you can argue it is being supported by the catching device

your math is good, the entries were advertised 40 for intermediate. but they raised the price 5 bucks a player for int. and rec, that morning. i even saw the player check-in sheet and the entry was crossed out with 45 over it. so that makes the payout 32 per player, $608. which puts the $520 payout $88 below the requirements.
the same went for the rec men and women as well.

If the disc was supported in any way by rthe chain (meaning that if you moved the chain the disc would also move) it, in the past, had been able to skim by although I have never seen it happen.
A disc on the top (hanging or not) is different than one hanging and touching the chains/

Everyone ion your division paid the same as you. The wrong prices advertised for MA2 were my bad and my bad alone. You paid the TD correctly. It DOES reflect in payout. When we were asked by Jackie to give the $5 back we told her that it was already calculated in payout and the entry fee is correct. I apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused. We will ensure that the correct entry fees are advertised for the MA2 division next time.

I even took my shoes off to figure this out and INT men underpaid $88 exactly. Women advanced payout is $55 less $13 fees and players pack $42.
INT men should be $45 less $13 fees and players pack $32. 19 players $608. Y'all paid $520.

That 4-4-6 finish will sting for a while but I have to bring it up when the two other DZs are marked and the only one that isn't also happened to be the least likely hole to place a DZ.
IMO the DZ on 1 made it too easy of a hole where you might as well go for it and at worst you will be able to layup for a 4. There would have been NO issue had someone marked the pole with paint or even just a FLAG

Hey all. I talked to Lance yesterday & he told me that my payout was wrong for Beeville. I checked & he was right. The payout was wrong for the Intermediate, Rec men, & Rec women divisions. The Advanced & Pro divsions were correct. Here is the breakdown:
Intermediate payout was: It should have been:
1st-$110 $130
2nd-$85 $100
3rd-$70 $80
4th-$55 $70
Tie for 5th-$45 each $50 each
7th-$35 $40
8th-$30 $35
Tie for 9th-$23 each $28 each
Rec men payout was: It should have been:
1st-$65 $85
2nd-$50 $65
3rd-$40 $55
4th-$35 $45
5th-$30 $35
6th-$25 $30
Tie for 7th-$18 each $23 each
9th-$15 $20
Rec women payout was: It should have been:
1st-$30 $40
2nd-$20 $25
This means I owe the following people the listed amounts:
Intermediate:
1st-Adam Metz: $20
2nd-Joel Santrock: $15
3rd-Andrew Wright: $10
4th-Lance Hankins: $15

5th-James Grahmann: $5
6th-Tim Traut: $5
T7th-Fernando Perez: $5
T7th-Tyler Metz: $5
9th-Jerry Coleman: $5
Rec Women:
1st-Joni Smith: $10
2nd-Lesli Trahan: $5
I am sorry this was not caught at the tournament. I apologize for any inconvenience or problems or hard feelings this may have caused, but it was an honest mistake. It was not intentional. I have a few options for making this up to everyone.
1. Give credit toward your entry to the next 3rd Coast event you play in.
2. Give credit toward 3rd Coast merchandise.
3. Give a cash refund
I have already talked to a few people on the list & I appreciate those who have been so understanding. I will be trying to contact the rest of the people on the list, but I could use a little help. Some people I don't know how to reach, so if you know anyone on the list, please have them contact me through email at crzbuldog@yahoo.com or by phone at 361-945-0280. Once again, sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Ken,
Thanks. When Smoke, Jax and I messed up payout at the Last Cash tournament in Victoria Dec. '08, no one told us about it. I found the error and carried envelopes of money around for months fixing it. I wouldn't recommend that it was a pain. This should not be a stain on Third Coast's reputation but an indication of character. If we can help in any way we will.

Matt- u are still going on about the drop zone on 1? Big red pole in the middle of the fairway is not your issue, its the fact that we didnt put a flag to the left or right of the pole? Thats my fault, I thought we were to throw from the right side when there is a teebox pole or drop zone...my bad...

Mike,
If you want to look at the time stamps on my posts you will see they are from Tuesday. I was responding to Mr. Cartwrights post that the payout was correct. You really need to learn how this internet thing works. It would be awesome if you found the character to admit when you are wrong. Not just throw out sarcastic garbage. Matt has every right to complain since he had already headed to hole two when the drop zone was announced by Chapa. Fact is it wasn't marked. If you can find a rule that says anything about throwing to the right of a post or mark I 'd love for you to point it out.
Peace

According to that you throw from near the Mando area and in that case I did what was necessary according to that write-up by taking my shot from behind where my disc "missed the mando or went OB". Also with missing a mando one assumes a DZ is in place although that was not the case with my going OB since nobody had a clue there was a DZ and the day before in dubs we played our shot from where it went OB on the same exact hole.
Even Birdshot marks their DZs.
