I first want to start off by thanking everyone involved who have put forth time and effort into all of the artwork we received. All of your work is much appreciated!
There were quite a number of options available and we have finally narrowed it down to 7 choices.
Please take your time to look through the following choices and pick the hotstamp you feel you would like to see on our ION putter.
Few things to keep in mind. Every option shown will have our MVP Disc Sports logo added to the artwork if not already done so. Also, the size represented in the pictures does NOT represent how large or small the hotstamp will appear on the disc... this will be determined afterwards.
Once again, thank you everyone involved. Good luck and have fun voting!
The winner will recieve $500 in IONs bearing the hotstamp.
~Chad

Ion's aren't "strictly positive". Ions can be positive or negatively charged. Anions have a net negative charge, while cations have a net positive charge.

Thank you mike for posting Option 1. Not sure why its not showing up for some of you.
As for the strictly positive text on option 7, we can always exclude that and have our MVP logo placed under it.
EDIT: I went ahead and hosted the same stamp for Option 1 again to see if that would help.

I like that idea. I think it would look better with your MVP logo under there instead of it saying strictly positive.

I've still had a few people tell me they can't see #1. Don't know what the deal is.

I took the designer to mean that for this incarnation of an Ion (as a disc you are throwing) it is strictly positive (with pun intended). I like it.

#7 looks like a computer logo. #1 is ok but just needs the ions on the rings to be balanced top to bottom and left to right(i.e. 1 on top left, 1 bottom cent, 1 top right) and without the dots on either side. number 6 is the most well done of them all. wish i had had the time to make a design. good luck to the choices!

first off, thanks to chad for giving the artists here the opportunity to have their work possibly chosen as the stamp for the ion!
i like and appreciate all the work shown here, and wished that i had had more time to submit something that should have been better, (family matters arose) however, i definitely agree that the finalists here were all worthy.
as a graphic artist, i pretty much make a living designing logos and debating what works with editors and what doesn't work as well.
with that in mind. my two cents on some of the entries:
logo number 2: i love the stylized lettering and the atom structure, however i feel the atom structure as it stands, interferes with the word 'ion', almost to the point of looking like a stylized letter 'a'. it would work very well as a seperate color from the lettering.
logo number 4 and 5: my least favorite of the entries. the 'o' in ion keeps reminding me of a fruit juice icon or something related to that. i realize what the 'o' represents but i don't feel it comes off as intended, however the overall structure of the logo is pretty strong.
logo number 6: my favorite! very strong and suggestive and in keeping with the circular nature of the disc and the name of the disc also. very clean lines and strong light source on the particles which in itself lends a bit of depth to the finished art. very strong logo.
great entries overall.

(even though i had to rush it out, there are some elements of it that i kinda liked!

Hey Les, Thanks for your input. It's always good to get critiques from other artists and designers in the field. I couldn't agree with you and shteev with what you had to say about some of the entries.. Here's my thoughts as well with what was voted on:
#1.. Agree with shteev's comments about the dots on both sides. It could stand alone without them. keeping the spacing on the ions as well on each ring is an easy fix.
#2.. Make the white outline a couple points bigger and make those loops really look like they're weaving around each other.
#3. With the thickness going top to bottom.. continue that on the ION box'd outline.
#4&5.. Agree with Les as my least favorites out of all 7. Too cartoony. The ring coming around the front of the ion makes it look weird as well.
#6. While I like the overall positions of fonts and the balance of it. It reminded me more of a solar system than an ION or chemical structure.. if that makes sense.
#7. I liked that he listened to some posters on the initial ION thread about not making it too big ..keeping the design to a smaller size. I thought the "strictly positive" was ...o.k.. and dug the transition with the plus signs.
What I and probably a lot of the voters liked about 6 and 7 was the presentation of the logo. Great job superimposing those onto a disc.

Oh.. and Les.. your image you posted. I tried thinking of bringing a character into one of my concepts too. It has a cool "retro" feel to it. You could have continued that 50's style to the ION text below it.

You could have continued that 50's style to the ION text below it.
yeah, initially i had considered that but ultimately i liked the idea of adding a 'modern' element to the design.
best of both worlds!

Voting is finally over!
I must thank everyone once again for all of the hard work spent on all of the submissions. It was a lot of fun going through all of the artwork, lots of creative designs!
The voting has been fairly close the entire week with #2 and #7 battling it out. But alas, #2 pulled ahead the last day and now has won the art contest!
Congratulations to MikeInscho for the winning ION art submission of design #2!
We additionally liked artwork #6 so much that we are going to be using this in combination with the art of #2! So with the combinations of text/art between #2 and #6 the prizes will be split accordingly. We will be sending each of you $300 in IONs bearing the new hotstamp when released!
In conclusion, a huge congratulations to both MikeInscho and Zach for submitting the art and text that are going to be used for the new hotstamp!
As for all the runners up, we will be sending you each a stamped ION as well for participating.
Thank you all very much for participating and I will post up a preview of the final hotstamp once finished.
Thanks,
~Chad
