SIGN UP FOR THIS TOURNAMENT PEOPLE!!!!!!! Mitch park is AWESOME!!! A lot of really cool shots and trouble if you get off the fairways! This park offers many different kinds of shots, some find thumbers to be effective, some scoobies, some like to go right up the gut... theres a few bomber shots and a few lefty/two finger friendly holes. Theres some ace runs and some good pars... not to mention there was a skill shot and putting challenge last year... I imagine Joe has something twisty going on this year. I think one of the edmond locals won free discs for 5 years and opted for lump sum payment... that box of plastic was HUGGGGGE!!!!! Not to mention there was a freaking ICE SCULPTURE there last year! Edmond Disc golf club really goes all out for this thing. I pregregged as soon as it was open, personally, I don't want to miss this one!

Even better... we are going to give away your car duff!!
(of course my wife would be happy if I got one out of the driveway)
but still more to come...
it will be a great place to bring down your tulsa bag tags, there could be some serious swapping going on. Scores on this course can vary from just one kick off a tree or grab of a disc by a cedar...birdies to bogeys await...

Apr 16 2010, 08:36 PM
It is half full, and I know a few people still planning on signing up. So if your going to get in you need to do it.
Only 2 women signed up for the earings so far...
Hopefully I will have the other suprise to post next week. But its in the works....
If the weather is nice you could camp out at lake arcadia, If you can get into the spring creek camping area you could play night golf on the course out there and not even have to drive. Just walk over to the course. Its only about 15 mins from Mitch Park.

Nice clues Mutt. I wonder what they are??? LOL.
Ok everyone it is almost TYE F Time!!! We are up to 61 pre reg'd players and we will update that as they come in. I really want to THANK those of you who have signed up at mini's or online. I will announce what spots we will have left in the divisions on Wednesday.
The Edmond club has done a great job on the course and the family has done a wonderful job of getting sponsorship. The players pack is going to be a T-Shirt (for ALL divisions) LUNCH BOTH DAYS, your choice of a Innova Star Roc+ or a glow FL, a koozie and some stickers / coupons. There will be 6 different CTP's awarded with a value well over $300.00 as well. If the ACE pot is not hit we will be throwing off for that as well! The EDGE raffle will be off the chain as usual!!!
We will all play 2 rounds of 18 on Saturday and 1 round of 27 on Sunday. We will have a final 9 for the top players. Sunday will also see the return of the TWISTED SKILLZ challenge and the TWISTED putting competition with the shootoff during the awards ceremony.
There is plenty of opportunity to WIN some cool stuff and spend time on a great course with your friends! WE hope to see you there! Sign up online or at the Edmond mini tonight or the Dolese mini Wednesday night!

Slim and the General are headed down. never played this course before, asking politely for two things:
1) directions on the easy way to get there from the turnpike
2) does it compare to a course here in tulsa?
mutt
Apr 19 2010, 01:00 PM
take the turnpike to I-35 north. go 5 miles and get off on Covell and go west (left) 5 miles and its on your right. turn right on marlyn williams and go all the way back and the pavillion is on the left. ,The park is between kelly and santa fe. I dont know what course it compares too in tulsa maybe paul or coda can help you out. maybe hunter without the creek??

hard to compare it to something in tulsa really... its got a mix of holes.
Some are mcclure-ish, some are hunter-ish with some woods. It plays like a slightly less difficult hunter when it is in the longs and in the shorts, its kind of like centennial or moose run, lots of opportunities for birdie, but not everyone will get them all.
sorry for the rough comparison, it really is hard to compare it to any tulsa course... it would be like trying to compare lions and griffin to tulsa courses... they are quite different
Slim, if you just practice hunter for a couple rounds this week, you will be in good shape for mitch. If you throw thumbers at all, you might want to work on throwing a few of those, they might help you on a couple holes out there too.

Apr 20 2010, 12:32 AM
OK we are at 74 official players! We were out at the Mitch Park mini tonight and got a good a few more signed up. The club has the course looking good! With extended Tee Boxes on a few holes, a few new benches and a bunch of mulch thrown out it is ready for us all to enjoy! THANKS TEAM EDMOND!!!
Walking the property tonight made me realize something very cool... The extra 9 holes for the Sunday 27 were designed by the club without me there. I designed the final TWISTED 9 without the club there and we all came up with 18 new holes for you to enjoy... THIS WEEKEND ONLY! They cross each other by design so they would not make another 18 there but it is well on it's way! I am sure the players will love all of the extras this weekend will have to offer them!
Thanks to Mutt who came out tonight with some donated mini flyers and "natures water filters" from his work! More PLAYERS pack stuff... never hurts! It looks like it's going to be a very TWISTED event in a GREAT place to throw!!!

almost to 80 players now...
Twisted1
Apr 21 2010, 09:19 AM
Ok folks looking at 84 pre reg'd up and ready to rock! Here are some answers to a few questions from various areas.
Host Hotel - I don't arrange host hotels anymore as the PDGA has numerous deals in place that are the same discount as they offer us TD's. By using your PDGA assigned bonus your stay gets tracked and reported to help us negotiate better discounts for ALL members at ALL times... rather than just one itty bitty weekend at a time.
Camping - Is available at Lake Arcadia in Edmond. Info available at Edmond Parks and Rec.
OB - will be CLEARLY defined. I love using my local courses and not having to count on a course TD hundreds of miles away... and YES the 2 meter rule is in effect!!!
Twisted 9 - only the top 4 in all Pro and Advanced fields will be playing the Twisted 9. The Twisted 9 is made up of new holes and will involve temp. baskets. You can't practice them until you play them.
Lunch - Is provided by Brad Workman and Mr. Goodcents Deli and is FREE to the players. Brad has done very well at past events and always keeps it fresh and tasty!!! THANKS Brad!
EDGE raffle - Yes. It will feature a basket. A real Innova basket... aka Discatcher Sport as well as the traditional gems that I offer up for EDGE. Why are we the only one's in Oklahoma supporting EDGE? Because it lives up to our goal of constantly promoting the sport and supporting youth, females and minorities in Disc Golf. Not to mention it is a REAL charity that actually does what they say they are going to do. All of the $ raised can only be spent by Oklahoma educators. In short it's the whole $ where your mouth is routine.
Saturday signups - It is looking like this will be one of the first Oklahoma events to fill prior to Saturday. We currently only have 14 spots left available, grab one while you can. The only folks allowed in on Saturday are waitlist folks who can fill gaps made by no-shows only.
Skills Challenge / Putting Competition- is included in your entry fee the first time. If you want to re take the challenge it will cost you $3.00. That $3.00 will be donated to EDGE as well.
Tonight will be the last chance to sign up at the Dolese Mini. We will be there around 5:15 and will have sign up sheets. I look forward to seeing you there!

Any projections on what time the players meeting might happen on Saturday?
Thanks
mutt
Apr 21 2010, 02:16 PM
and does the final nine include adv masters / grands? or just Adv? you have a s on fields so I guess it would include the more mature groups...
Sign ups end at 8:45 if it doesnt fill up before then, So I would say players meeting around 9 but that is joeRo's call and what he says goes...

We just wanted to wish all of you Twisted Folks a great time this weekend. We have been Jonesin' for a great Twisted Event we can make it to, wish it were this one.
Thanks for supporting the EDGE raffles as we have been working hard to get this EDGE charity program ramped up and this year is by far the best yet.
Support our sponsors that are supporting EDGE and helping bring some sweetness to these events.
KEEN Footwear, Innova Champion and Maui Jim Sunglasses!
We are growing the sport in Oklahoma thanks to all of you supporting Twisted Flyer and EDGE. Keep up the Great Work and have some fun out there!

Spots will be given out on a first call basis so leave a message if we don't answer.
Thanks Jay & Des we wish you could make it here as well but rest assured we will be doing it up in Edmond. The EDGE raffle wil be chock full goodies!!!

screw u buddy, i am back in. Excuse me for having to replace some car windows after visiting the Buccaneer for 20 mins ! I got a sweet deal on windows in a salvage yard so I was able to save some money and follow through. Kiss OFF WISE, I am taking over for Geiger who dropped out as well. Maybe you can go yell at someone else. I always say: "Get your Facts straight".
BTW....My car was not the only one busted up. Beware of this place, also happened to my friends jeep with tire slashings on NYE. Had 3 very pricy discs in back seat and they weren't taken so it wasn't about disc golf.

Wow.
this was a
[email protected]$$ tournament. The course, to me, was... McClure length, Moose Run tightness, and Duncan landscaping. Very well kept course. some holes the pins only moved 40-50 feet but made the hole play incredibly different. I had an absolute blast. Cannot wait for next year. More T-town players need to show up for this. I only saw a handful of familiar faces from the 918. It was well worth the drive for me.

Thanks to all that worked hard helping, donating and played

That cours Kicked my @ss. I agree somewhat with slim's course assesment but he forgot to metion the wind, lol. I think it had a Pineywoods feel to it but maybe that's because that is the last time I was gut punched bye a course. When you throw in the water on a 220 'ish ctp hole and take a 5 that pretty much sums up the weekend :).
Over all had a great time road trippin' w/ Conners and seeing Coda, Big Nic and Slim, Dorries too. Joe threw a great event and had scores up by the time we got back saturday ! OKC and Norman guys, you rock and I am glad I am getting to know more and more of you.
P.s. While on this course, STAY IN THE FAIRWAY !!! at all costs !

I'll make this one next year. The timing was off this year, just coming off all weekend at Emporia, I just couldn't pull off another all weekender.:(
It was nice just sitting around chillin all weekend though. First time in over a month.
Need to look at the calander closer next year. :o

yeah the course ripped me to shreds this weekend!
I did enjoy the tournament, free lunch and a well run event. Joe and Danielle did an outstanding job running this tourney.
Thanks to the edmond club for all your work on the course and getting the pins moved and setting up extra holes, those 9 holes on the last round were fun. Can't believe I only missed final 9 by 3 strokes, makes me hate that 2nd round even more!
Gotta love a course you can shoot better in the long pins than the shorts! haha.
Thanks again for a fine event.

Apr 26 2010, 10:53 AM
also...
I lost 2 discs that I would LOVE to get back... if they turn up anywhere in edmond/okc let me know!
Pinkish/Clear champion teebird, stamp removed, 3 sparrows died in the circular pattern on top.
Eco green star wraith, 175g with a tournament stamp in the middle on the front in silver.
Lost the teebird in the fairway of hole 3 (left it there pre-round warming up)
Lost the wraith in the short right part of hole 1 either in the short trees or it went through and made it to those pines or cedars whatever they are on the right side.
Thanks!
mutt
Apr 26 2010, 02:21 PM
paul I will check tonight, I would think someone picked up the teebird. I will look for the wraith. Is it dark or light green? We also have our mini tonight and maybe someone will find it then. If casuals find it, its probably gone :(. Til they lose it and a player finds it..
FYI to players, in the spring and summer dont throw green or tye dye at mitch. they blend with EVERYTHING...or stay in the fairways.
The short course took a few names this weekend...

Ok... getting ready for the SE Committee meeting in the morning means digging up the notes anyway! THANKS to everyone who participated in this event! We had players from 4 States and all over Oklahoma come out to celebrate this year! The club and Cunningham family did an amazing job prepping the course out and getting the extra sponsorship to make sure we all had a BLAST!!! This years skill shot winners were...
PRO - Jarred Pennington with a 65
AM - Bill Slim Moyers with a 71
Both players won an entry in to the Jeremy Martin Memorial THANKS to Jason Schwake!!!
We were able to raise $513.00 for the EDGE Program which will hopefully be used very soon in the Edmond area. See you next year!
