$0.02 - It would be nice to have Whittier back on the SoCal tour. The island hole is still a nice signature hole, as well as the Power Tower hole.
It is still a nice course in a nice setting. I don't know if it got too expensive, but if not, I would love to see an event or even the SoCal Championships at Whittier...if they cannot be at LaMa.
Any thoughts?

No volunteer TD = No event!
Anyone out there? Whittier is a great venue, used to be one of the toughest with a lot of low ceilings.
Being a TD can be very cool; there have been a number of new TDs in recent years doing a great job...the Rico's & Gary, Dan Duron & Eldo crew, Cliff??? (Elysian Park), Chance/Bert, Ventura Crew, Justin-n-the-Santa-Marias, Wylot & Risley, SVO crew, and the list goes on.
I will help with scorecards, or basket moving or whatever if someone will take the reigns.
Represent.

You all know if my assistance is needed to make a SoCal event happen, I will do my part. Even if it means not playing. Let me know what I can do...

There has historically been little interest in running PDGA sanctioned events by Whittier locals, with the only events I can remember from 1999 on being put on by "road warrior TD" types. :)
Hopefully that can change. Does anybody even know any Whittier locals? I'm not sure who claims that as their home course these days. I too miss the WN course. It's one of my favorites and it's where I learned to throw a roller. (Back before the 30-year tree trimming.) I'd love to play another event there. Laurie isn't a big fan of the course so I rarely get to play it casually.
I think the last sanctioned event there was a Cliff Towne Fling prior to Chavez going in.

So I'm planning on running an event there. Since I moved to LB I'm no longer the TD in Bako and could run an event here, but I don't want to run a regular event I've got something different conceptually planned out.
First off, I need to find out who the local guys are so that I don't step on any toes by running an event on their course. I also need to talk to PDGA about the type of event I want to run, pass the Officials test, talk to DTworld about doing prizes, find out what the parks dept wants, etc. etc.
So anyone have a # of the guy that runs the weeklys out there? I work so I can't go there personally. BTW anyone that's interested in helping me out can get in touch. :)

I'm all the way down in San Diego, so I have no clue who the Whittier locals are. Anyway, like I said, I can volunteer during an event.
Without letting the "cat outta the bag," would you run a PDGA sanctioned event? I travel for those ;-)

*Dirty rumor spreading time*
I heard a rumor that the baskets have been pulled at Whitter Narrows. Is this true, and if so, why?

Sweet. I will be close enough to check where I am working at this week so I think I will do so. I heard it from a local at Prado this week so I figured they knew what they were talking about, but it's best to check on these things yourself. I'll report back afterward...

I just played Whittier yesterday (May 21). Baskets are still there.
