Charity Competition Endowment Program from the PDGA, one of the better things I've seen the org do in awhile
charity must be a 501c3
$2 PDGA C Tier Fee donated to charity, must be matched by event
25% of entry must be donated to charity
this allows the option of no $10 non-member fee (TD may charge and donate also if they wish)
pretty cool program to allow a charity event to get sanctioned - same program I've utilized for to sanction the Ft. Smith Ice Bowl - all required from the PDGA is normal sanctioning fee ($50) plus you can get the insurance for 50 more if required/wanted
http://www.pdga.com/files/documents/2009CompetitionEndowmentProgram-Details.pdf
LS Discs event is offering a "Casual Division" - non sanctioned div., not a bad idea to attract new players with a low entry that wouldn't care about ratings, ect.
wforest
Mar 30 2010, 06:31 PM
.. .Evan 'nailed it' ... Hicks' tourney in May covers all-divisions (like Evan's Icy Bowl) ... the LS Discs tourney in April has one 'special' Division (casual) offered to enter-and-compete for non-pdga-addl-fee ...

The Am Jam team is drumming up sponsorship for the tournament!
News flash: Hobbytown USA at 71st and Memorial is the presenting sponsor for the tournament. They have a great inventory of discs - pay them a visit and be sure to thank James or Ellen for their support of the Am Jam.
The Oklahoma Disc Golf Foundation has also thrown down some cash, and is the first Ace Sponsor.
Here are some sponsorship levels that are still available (and the perks that go with them):
$200 Ace Sponsor: Full page recognition in program. Banner displayed at tournament site. Booth or table at tournament headquarters. Name/logo on back of t-shirt.
$100 Birdie Sponsor: Half page recognition in program. Booth or table at tournament headquarters. Name/logo on back of t-shirt.
$50 Par sponsor: Recognition in program. Name/Logo on back of t-shirt.
$20 Am Jam Friend: Recognition in program
Come on! You know you want your name on that t-shirt! And you pros could set up a table and sell signed, autographed photos, highlight dvds, and collectors item discs! You can't play in the tournament, but maybe you could still make some cash at your booth.
Support the Am Jam. I predict that in 2015 it will draw more players than Bowling Green! This is going to be a first class event.

Jim is doing a great job on getting us sponsors for the Tulsa Am Jam and I have had people from Dallas telling me they are coming in for this tournament, so I am very excited to kick this thing off!
I also visited the Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals shelter in North Tulsa before making them the charity for this event and I can tell you personally that they are doing good work on saving abused and neglected dogs and cats. They gave me a tour of their facilities and were over joyed that we (disc golfers) were going to help their shelter. This is a win win situation if you are an amateur disc golfer.
Also be sure and make Dave Wise' all amateur one day tourney, The Centennial Cup, on May 1st. If you know Dave, you know he will make it worth your while for coming out and playing.

I will be taking sign ups on Friday at McClure from 5pm to 9pm across from hole 17 (MC's front yard). Big Nic's Friday night doubles will also be held there that night (8:15pm sign up).
The order of play will be Haikey (sign ups that morning from 7:30am to 8:15am), Hunter Saturday, then Dovillio and McClure for the final rounds on Sunday. The TSPCA will be out at McClure at lunch time on Sunday with animals for potential adoption (I think Furdog needs a pal).
We have HobbyTown USA as our presenting sponsor and other sponsors include The Oklahoma Disc Golf Foundation, TDSA, The Line, Twisted Flyer, and Wayne Forest.
Now we can only hope that the world doesn't end on 2012, or if it is then make sure you get in this year or next!
Online sign ups at pdga.com. First 50 players to sign up will recieve a tournament t-shirt.

I was out at haikey briefly on Sunday and they had freshly mowed the park.. it looked beautiful... and I only played the first four holes (the ones that are normally wet'n muddy).
This got me thinking, when is the next time you can play this sweet course in a tournament format???
TULSA AM JAM... not only that, but there are already multiple sponsors contributing to this tournament. AM ONLY means this will be a treat to all of the amateur players in the surrounding area!
Don't let it sneak up on you and just at the last second have to make other plans... SIGN UP NOW ... http://www.pdgasignup.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi?CMD=011&PROD=1269369391 ... that way when someone asks you what you are doing on May 15 and 16th... you can respond with "playing is the first ever (of many to come) Tulsa Am Jam!"
How cool would that be... in 15 years when all the new up and coming players are just getting involved with the biggest AM event in the midwest, you could say... yeah.. I remember the very first one!

Also Jason Schwake is providing a free entry into the Jeremy Martin Memorial tourney in OKC to be given away at the Tulsa Am Jam. So thanks to both those guys!

Thanks again to all the players that made it out to the first Tulsa Am Jam. We didn't get rained on, it looked like everyone had fun, and you all helped donate $520 to the Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals! That's a good weekend in my book.
The tournament paid out $3,402 worth of merchandise, giving the players (like Paul said) over a 200% pay out. Here are the sponsors that helped make that possible:
HobbyTown USA, Oklahoma Disc Golf Foundation, Dr. Jim, TDSA, The Line, The Lodge & Jeremy Taylor, Treat and Family, Furdog & Lil' Moose, Twisted Flyer, Joel Woody & Crow Creek Tavern, Cool Daddy Slick Breeze, Wayne Forest, Westport Apartments, Tom's Bicycles, Paul Dorries, Jason Scwake, Dave Wise, Dale Patterson, Tony "Sky" Walker, and Bill "Slim" Moyers.
Most of all I would like to thank my staff for making this tourney run so smoothly and making me look so good on my first try as a TD! They are: Jose' Mendoza (if you played in any of his events in the past you know why this one was on time and well run - he was for all intensive purposes my co-TD) and his family Rebecca, Connor, and Miranda, my wife Mary Beth (always supportive), Wayne Forest (always helping disc golf in our area), Michael Treat, Dale Patterson, Dan Bougher, Paul Dorries, John & Carla Barton, Gary Nail (for taking some great pictures), and Doug Dough (thanks for lending us your generator).
I will keep people posted on when the DVD is coming out. Let's make this even bigger and better next year!
