Prepare now to register for one of the biggest and best tournaments in North Carolina. The King's Cup V,( May 15-16 2010 )will be open for registration on March 17th 2010 at www.kinstondiscgolf.com. This tournment has filled every year and every year it fills faster. Paypal and snail mail are available. This is a North Carolina Points Series event and all Open and Advanced divisions will be required to pay $2 with their entry fee. There will be players packs for all particpants and we will be wroking very hard to raise the Pro Purse as we have in the past. Please consider being a sponsor for this event. We will be sure to spend it on the players to make this years King's Cup V the best yet.

An official event flyer will be located on the kinstondiscgolf homepage. We will have some course changes ready for you to enjoy as well. Look for the technical front nine to become even more technical as hole seven slips across the creek towards hole ten where it is closely gaurded by a few large trees with attitude. Will you go for it or lay up and try for a three. Hole 8 may very well be 75 farther around the corner than its usual placement adding the need for a controled anyhyzer. We had a great group of volunteers on the course last year spotting for us, if we are as fortunate this year we will likely play 15 in its alternate pin location.

All recreational and intermediate players will play a modified layout consisting of two rounds from the shorts and two from the longs. Lunch will be on site both days, please make plans to eat at the park.

Please use this post as a tournament discussion thread and contact me personally for specific questions not related to the tournament. Thanks and we look forward to having you at the King's Cup V!!!

So far the response has been great - well beyond what I expected for the first afternoon. There are still plenty of spaces. The list of registered players should be up soon, but don't worry if you don't see it for another day or two. If you registered, and did the PayPal payment thing, then you should be ok.

Thanks for all the interest and support. That's what makes the King's Cup so much fun.

it's good to see we don't conflict this year. NC has been missing from the lakefront for too many years. it's not the same course you last saw. may 22,23.

Workday this Saturday, meet at 8:30 in the parking lot, look for my truck and trailer....we will be doing many projects so bring cleaning tools, drills, brush clearing tools. Also don't hesitate to get on the waitlist, there have already been a few to get in and though the list is long, I know there could be more. Be ready to pay if your name gets called to confirm your spot. Hope to see a big crew on Saturdsy. All play and no work makes for a ugly course.........

Hi everyone, thanks for signing up. We're really excited about next weekend. We're filling some spots that have come open, and really appreciate the quick responses on that.

If you happen to know that you cannot play the King's Cup V, it will be helpful to let us know in advance as a courtesy to players on the wait list, and so we can solidify the field. We'll post updates as soon as we have them.

Please let us know if there is anything you need, directions, local info, etc., to help you have a great time here at the King's Cup! aloha :)

Please be prepared to pay if you are on the waitlist. If you get a call, you must be ready to pay or we will have to go to the next player. Please purchase a Katana and support the tournamnet, see link above for details. There is a lot of activity at the course and we will try to have everything in postition by this Saturday. If you are available, we are having a workday Saturday starting at 8:30 and any help is appreciated. Come out and work a little and then throw a practice round. We are looking forward to having you and we hope this year to give you our best tournament yet. Please PM if you have any questions.

There once was a girl named Holly
that I met on hole sixteen
I kissed her with my chainsaw
and her bark began to scream
I kissed a little longer
and on the ground she fell
now the ace route looks real tasty

Every King's Cup V player will get 1 free "Flex" ticket to a Kinston Indians home game at Grainger Stadium. You trade it in for a general admission ticket when you go, or call ahead to reserve your ticket for a specific night and then pick it up at will-call (good plan if it's a weekend).

So you can go to a game on King's Cup weekend -- the K-Tribe is playing Fredericksburg at 7pm on Friday and Saturday nights, May 14-15, and at 2pm on Sunday afternoon (something for your significant other non-player to enjoy?). Or you can come back to Kinston for a game any time this season. If you want your ticket for the Friday night game, you can get it from me at Barnet Park, 5:30pm that day, at King's Cup warm-up doubles (please let me know in advance).

Thank you, Kinston Indians! aloha,

Christian

Please remember to support the tournament and eat lunch at the park both days. I can't officially drop names but I can say we are having a great chicken sandwhich on Saturday and locally popular BBQ sandwhich on Sunday. We will include chips, cookies, and drinks in a combo package for $5.

New baskets have arrived and will likely be in this afternoon after 4:30.

Mandatory players meeting at 9:30 on Saturday....don't forget!

Be sure to sign in to lock your spot before you do anything else the day of the event.

Well said Christian, I couldn't agree more. The amount of work that Joe & KDGA puts in every year is so apparent at each year's King's Cup. Not only on the course but on the amount of sponsors and volunteers helping. Top class event always!!

Another thumbs up! The tournament was very well organized. I counted over 4 spotters during each round which was great! Thanks for the water coolers and especially the cookies that were on hole 9 going into the last round. They were the best! Can't wait for next year!

I would have posted this sooner, but it took a little while to resurrect the account.

I want to thank Joe, Christian, Joel, and all the rest of an amazing Kinston crew that never fails to bring out a top-shelf event every year. This course has become what it was intended to be, but not without all of the hard work from that disc golf family. Every disc golfer in or out of this area, who is lucky enough to enjoy this course, owes you all so much for your efforts.

Due to the fact that I have little experience with acceptance speeches, I feel like I should address a glaring omission from Sunday.

I never rightfully acknowledged the guys that I was fortunate enough to play with all weekend. Without guys like them, there would be no point to play the game. I especially want thank Joe Noble, for those extremely kind and humbling words.

And Schweb; It's always a pleasure to golf with you. I've been looking up to you for a long time, not only on the leader board. Awesome battle, for a while I definitely felt a bit like a fish, getting slowly reeled in... I look forward to some Farm Livin'

Thanks for all of the kind words from everyone. Joel has posted some photos from the tournament at the kinstondiscgolf.com. Also, if you have not e-mailed your comments from the tournament......course, event, sponsors, T.D., volunteers, etc. ...please send those to [email protected] our commnets will be saved and shared with our sponsors and other supporters of disc golf.
